As we think about Spring and all the beauty that God is going to pour out on this earth I can t help but stop and thank Him for allowing me to enjoy all of it. Spring is a time for new growth as the plants start to bud and new shoots begin to sprout. Speaking of new things, did you know that our chapter has a new Facebook page and a new website? Jean has included the links in the newsletter, check them out. I hope this will be another way we can keep everyone informed of upcoming events and happenings both in our chapter and in the biking community. As we think about Spring we also think about the fact that it will soon be time to get out on the bike (I can t wait). I am looking forward to all the opportunities we are going to have to both share Christ with others and to enjoy fellowship with one another. I am sure that James is going to give you some pointers about getting the bike ready for this riding season (see the Road Captain Report). One thing is to get our witnessing bag ready which means restocking it with new tracts and Bike Blessing Stickers. I will bring tracts and stickers to the next meeting. Since we will soon be on the bikes I want to remind you to always be ready to share the Gospel and always wear your Colors. It s All About JESUS! David Smith, President

2 Spring has sprung, the grass is ris, I wonder where my motorcycle is! Yes, indeed, Spring has sprung, or will be soon, so that means more nice weather days for riding. James always reminds us to be prepared when we are going to ride and at the beginning of riding season that means a little more thorough inspection than the usual quick once-over we often give them. Here is a brief rundown, and more info can be found on the VR webpage linked below. A quick rundown of the 7-point plan to Winter recovery, in order of importance: Manual Labor - Dust off your trust service manual and skim through it Fuel First - Why you shouldn't use fuel that has been sitting Battery Maintenance - Lead-acid or lithium, you probably need a charge Tires - Will they be good for the whole season? Oil & Filter - Now is a good time to change them The Forgotten Fluids - Don't forget your brake fluid and coolant Spring Cleaning - Days are getting longer, make your bike shine! On February 2 David, Jean, Wyndell, Virginia and Rita visited with residents in Woods Haven Nursing Home in Pollock and had prayer with some. I had to work late and was unable to attend. They enjoyed supper at B.J.'s Pizza in Ball. Rita attended the fly-in breakfast at Buhlow Lake with son Chad and they visited with several people. On Valentine's Day, we visited with and passed out valentines and candy to veterans at the V.A. Nursing Home in Pineville. We prayed with many of them and thanked them for their service to us and our country. Those attending were David, Jean, H.O., Paula, Donnie, Jeanie, Dillon, Rita and me. We were joined by 4 members of the Circuit Riders of Olla. After our visit to the V.A., we rode to Buhlow Lake Recreation Area and had a picnic and enjoyed great fellowship. On February 16, Donnie, Jeanie, Dillon, David,

4 Jean, Tyler, Juliet, Rita and me enjoyed Bikes and Burgers at Rick's Pizza in Jena. Bible study on February 23 was cancelled due to inclement weather. SAFETY TIP: As upcoming riding season approaches remember to perform maintenance on bikes. Check tires, change oil, tune-up. Be sure clutch is adjusted properly. For bikes with drive shaft, check u-joints and oil in rear end. It s all about Jesus, James Dedman, Road Captain Chaplain s Corner Living in Lo-debar 11 Then Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so will your servant do. So Mephibosheth ate at David's table, like one of the king's sons So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate always at the king's table. Now he was lame in both his feet. 2 Samuel 9:11,13 The Bible tells us that when David sought out Jonathan's son to show him kindness, Mephibosheth was living in an out-of-the-way place called Lo-debar. The name actually means "the place of no pasture." You didn't want to live in Lo-debar. It was a dry, parched, crummy place to live. But where were we when Jesus Christ found us? We were living in Lo-debar, a parched, driedup place. And just like David sought out Mephibosheth, Jesus Christ sought us. It is worth noting that it was not Mephibosheth who looked for David; it was David who looked for Mephibosheth. That might not seem significant, but it really is. David wanted to have a relationship with him. We read in 2 Samuel 9:5, Then King David sent and brought him (Mephibosheth) from the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar. ESV David was persistent. He would not give up on Mephibosheth. This is a reminder to us that we need to reach out to our friends, neighbors, and even enemies who don't know Christ. They don't realize it, but they are living in Lo-debar. They are living in a parched place separated from God. So we need to ask God to place an urgency in our hearts. We all know people who need someone to reach out to them. That is exactly what David did. And that is what we need to do. 6 Victory Riders meet the 2nd Monday of every month at Maw & Paw s Restaurant on Highway 84 West. Come early, (around 6) to eat and fellowship and we will begin the meeting at 7:00 P.M. James & Rita March 26 CMA Day of Prayer is Sunday, March 1. Our chapter will meet at Sonic on Highway 84 in Jena after church for lunch. We will then ride to the Jena Town Hall, LaSalle Parish Courthouse, and the town halls in Olla, Urania, Tullos, Georgetown and Pollock before returning to Jena for ice cream! In the event of thunderstorms, we will travel in our boring vehicles!

7 MARCH is National Nutrition Month, so TRY to eat healthful foods, at least for a month! The SECOND WEEK of March is National Bubble Week! Do you prefer Double Bubble or Super Bubble? Or maybe you just like soap bubbles! Whatever just HAVE FUN WITH BUBBLES this week! March 3 Is National Anthem Day. The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States of America. As you all probably know, the lyrics were written by Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships in the Chesapeake Bay during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of What you may NOT know is that the poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith. National Anthem Day celebrates this song, and the rich history behind its creation. The song officially became our national anthem on March 3, Why did Mr. Smith have to make it so hard to sing!?! Celebrate today by proudly flying the flag and listen to and sing the Star- Spangled Banner. March 14 - National Potato Chip Day celebrates the ever popular potato chip. Potato Chips are America's #1 snack food. But, it s not just a snack food. It s the potato of choice for many lunchtime and dinner meals. Regular (or plain) potato chips are by far the most popular flavor. Potato chips were first made by Chef George Crum in Saratoga Springs, NY on August 24, Americans have been in love with them ever since. March 23 - National Chip and Dip Day celebrates America's favorite snack duet. If you re holding a party, it is almost certain that chips and dips are on the snack list. The only possible exception would be for an Ice Cream party. Important Note: Since we celebrated National Potato Chip Day on March 14 th, for today's celebration, the "chip" is more generic. It could be corn chips, or tortilla chips. And, the dip is any kind that goes well with the chip of choice. 8 *In honor of National Potato Chip Day: Homemade Potato Chips Peanut oil, for frying 2 potatoes, thinly sliced Salt In a large heavy saucepan, fill oil no more than halfway and heat the oil to 350 degrees. Add the potato slices in batches. Fry until light golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels, season with salt, and serve. Recipe courtesy of Paula Deen from foodnetwork.com *And in honor of National Nutrition Month: Homemade Baked Potato Chips 3 medium red potatoes, peeled salt and pepper 1 or 2 tbsp oil Preheat oven to 230 C (450 F). Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut the potatoes in thin, round slices. In a pot of boiling water cook the potato slices for 3-5 minute. Drain well and combine with oil, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Place potato slices on prepared baking sheet in one layer and bake for about 15 minutes until crisp and golden brown. Gently remove the chips and place on a cooling rack or parchment paper; let them cool for few minutes and they are ready to serve.

In other words, just because something is permissible for a Christian doesn't mean that you ought to do it. It is not a matter of asking, "Is this allowed?" It's a matter of asking, "Is this going to edify Christ and His Kingdom?" If the answer is No, then just don t do it! It could hurt you or your witness. Let's run as lightly as possible in this race of life. We re on Facebook Thanks to Jeanie for starting a Facebook page for our chapter! Our Blessing of the Bikes on Saturday, March 21 will be held on the parking lot of the Woodmen of the World building on Highway 84 on the East end of Jena. Please tell all of the bikers that you know so that they can come by and get those bikes blessed to kick off the beginning of the riding season. A yard sale will be held same time/same place and all funds raised will go to Run for the Son. If you have items to donate, please have them at the Woodmen building before 8AM so that we can get everything set up and ready to sell at 8!

10 Run for the Son is Saturday, May 2. We will leave Wal-Mart in Jena at 7:30 AM and ride to Pineville to the Fly-in breakfast. After breakfast, all those who want to will ride to the Confederates Rally near Arcadia to help the Minden chapter with whatever they need us to do. Those who do not go to the Rally will ride elsewhere TBD. Valentines for Vets February 14
