2 A word from the President Rain, rain go away come again some other day. I am sure you learned that as a child just as I did. Not really sure why anyone would teach that since I m pretty sure it never worked. I don t remember a summer when we had so much rain. Not that it s an entirely bad thing, just kind of puts a kink on bike riding plans. I am just wondering that if we have had this much rain in the dry season what s this winter going to be like? Perhaps James needs to give us some wet weather riding safety tips. I don t mind rain too bad as long as it s not so hard that I can t see. In fact I have seen some summer days that I would welcome a little rain to cool off a hot ride. Speaking of cooling off, fall is right around the corner which means that we will get some great days for being on the bike. Along with fall also come opportunities for us as CMA members. We have State Rally and Changing of the Colors Rally coming up. The Louisiana State Rally and Homecoming is only a couple of weeks away and the National CMA Changing of the Colors Rally is but a little more than a month away. I hope you have made your plans and have registered to attend. There are so many blessings to be had through the sharing of God s word by those in CMA leadership. Thinking about CMA leadership reminds me that we have Chapter Officer nominations in October. I have asked Jean to include in this newsletter the CMA guidelines and requirements for participating in nominations and being nominated for an office. I want to encourage you to be in prayer for who God wants to lead our chapter next year and what God wants your roll to be. Philippians 4:13 says: I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. So, as Christians we have no excuse for not doing what God calls us to do. There is a quote that goes something like this: God doesn t call the equipped, He equips the called. I want to encourage you to be like Isaiah and say "Lord, Here am I. Send me!" or in this case Use me! Ride safe and always Wear Your Colors. It s All About JESUS! 3 Victory Riders meet the 2nd Monday of every month at Rick s Pizza on Oak Street in downtown Jena. Come early, (around 6) to eat and fellowship and we will begin the meeting at 7:00 P.M. September is here and hopefully we'll have a few days of cooler weather this month. The fly-in at Buhlow Lake was on August 2 nd. Those enjoying a great breakfast and fellowship were Bill, Norma, their niece Betty, Wyndell, Virginia, David, Jean, Rita and Lisa. Bikes and Burgers was held at the Burger Barn in Olla on August 4 th. We enjoyed a variety of food and fun conversation. Those attending were Mike, Pat, David, Jean, Bill, Norma, Betty, Rita and me. Rita and I thank everyone who attended the wake and funeral for Rita's brother, J. W. Your presence was a comfort. On August 23 rd, the state CMA picnic was held in Ruston. Those who were able to make the ride and attend were David, Jean, Bill, Norma, Dennis, H.O. and Paula. We had a great discussion at Bible study on the 25 th, along with a great meal. Looking forward to future rides when the weather cools. SAFETY TIPS: Never assume others see you. Always try to make eye contact with drivers who may be about to pull into your path. Watch for right turning vehicles at intersections. Getting hit by an oncoming vehicle that's turning right is the most common type of motorcycle crash. Chaplain s Corner Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. If we obey this verse the world will dislike us. They want to hear about God s love. They will even say that we are trying to be self righteous and that we are judging others and we should judge not lest you be judged. We know that God is the judge and that His word is true. Mathew 23:13 says Then the King said to his aids, Bind him hand and foot and throw him out into the outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. These are woes against the scribes and Pharisees. We are to tell them the truth and not sugar coat it. We know that we are saved by grace and that we are to share the good news, but we are also to warn of the wrath to come in God s judgment revealed in revelation. Even John the Baptist came preaching repentance and turning away from sin. As children of God we are to warn others. H.O. Berry, Chaplain It s all about Jesus! Bring a dish to share and we will enjoy a meal and fellowship at 6, followed by a time of studying God s Word at 7. We are currently studying the book of 1 John. Nov. 1 Car & Bike Show BRHD Nov State Camp out Donnie Stevenson Sept. 13 Pat Boyd Sept. 21 Peach Cobbler Dump Cake: Ingredients: 2 (16 ounce) cans peaches in heavy syrup try it in lite syrup or juice 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix sugar free works well 1 stick butter Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Empty peaches into the bottom of one 9x13 inch pan. Cover with the dry cake mix and press down firmly. Cut butter into small pieces and place on top of cake mix. Bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes. # # # # # # # # # # # # # # Can t wait for State Rally and that cochon de lait! I sure hope that suckling pig doesn t turn into hot dogs before the 19 th gonna be a lot of disappointed CMAers!

5 Holiday Insights September 5 Be Late for Something Day I swear I did not make this up I found it on the Internet, so it MUST be TRUE! September 19 POW/MIA Recognition Day is a day of remembrance and hope for the speedy and safe return of American Prisoners of War, and those still Missing in Action. It also seeks the return of the remains of fallen soldiers. Please take a few moments that day, to remember our missing soldiers, and those held as prisoners of war and say a prayer for them and their families. Louisiana CMA State Rally Don t forget to be collecting the following items for delivery to the VA Nursing Home during State Rally: mens' bodywash/soap, spray deodorant, aftershave/cologne, shaving cream, disposable razors and socks. Norma has quite a bit of stuff she collected from her church, but we don t want to be slackers and let her do it all, so let s get busy! As I was reading the September edition of The Reader s Digest the other day I came across a section entitled Someone should invent Here are two that I found interesting. Someone should invent pants that actually catch fire when you lie. Raymond Portalatin Someone should invent a phone line to heaven. Tina Gagne I found the first one funny how many times as a kid did I say Liar, liar, pants on fire! But I found the second one sad does she not realize that we already have a phone line to heaven it s called prayer!

6 Elections Coming Soon CMA State Picnic The following should have been received by all chapter members by from Clayton & Vicki, via David, on September 2. It is included here for those who do not have, or may not have received, . October is the month we nominate for new chapter officers. In order to nominate or be nominated, members must be color qualified for at least six months, attend at least three meetings from April through September, and their vest MUST be in compliance at the October meeting. If vests are not compliant, those members cannot be nominated for any office. Girls trip to Destin Good food, good ride, good fun! Looking forward to next year.
