2 December 2010 Top Wings of Amarillo GWRRA South Central Region H Chapter A CD S CHATTER-RAY LATTA-C HAPTER DIRECTO R Page 2 CD Chatter December 2010 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We made it through another year. The holiday season is now upon us and riding time is at a premium. Please share your time this season with your family and your good friends. There is nothing more important or more valuable than your time and attention. I want to say thank you to everyone for helping me through my first year as Chapter Director. It is a pleasure to be a part of such a great group of friends. I am looking forward to next year and even more fun. So tell me, why do you ride? For some it is the freedom that comes with being one with nature instead of being in a container passing through the sights, smells and sounds of the outdoors. Sort of the difference between riding in a boat and scuba diving. The act of really experiencing your surroundings. Or perhaps the exhilaration of speed and carving your path as you ride. Calculating the maximum lean angle and the coefficient of friction considering the thermal condition of your tires and the road surface accounting for g-force and ground clearance. For some of us it is even more complicated: For the FUN of it. So I say, a resounding Thank You and Happy Holidays to all of my Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge. TOP WINGS FRIDAY NIGHT DRIVES Time: Friday evening at 6:15 p.m. Meet: At the designated restaurant. Dec. 3: Christmas Light Parade Dec. 10: Country Pride Dec. 17: Country Barn Dec. 24: No FND on Christmas Eve Feel free to Contact Ray Latta for details; Cell Home ; ray.latta@suddenlink.net
3 December 2010 Newsletter Educator s Corner Page 3 We are offering the Horizons Program for GWRRA members. Please put this notice out to your chapter participants by discussing it at chapter gatherings and advertise it in your newsletters. This is an excellent program and we expect it to fill up fast. How do you grow a chapter? On February , Chapter C of Baytown is sponsoring the GWRRA s Horizons Seminar directed by District Leadership Trainer Lynn Heene. The seminar will be held at the Deer Park Masonic Lodge 1362, 2809 Center St. in Deer Park. (located next door to the police station) We are inviting Texas GWRRA Chapter Participants to join us. Learning is one of the important ingredients for personal growth and this is a day and a half of learning that can be used not only personally, but more importantly, to grow your chapter. Some of the topics that will be covered will be Team Building, Expectations, Meeting & Gatherings and Communication. These, as well as other skills that will be learned, can be used in all aspects of your life and are basic skills for any member who is involved in a local Chapter. The program is fun filled and fast paced with exercises and games. We are asking for a small donation of $10 for each person attending. This will cover the building fee and pay for the motel for Lynn and her husband. We can only have people, so let us know as soon as possible that you want to be included. Sincerely, Phil & Annette Lockler Chapter Directors Region H, Chapter TX-C annette.harrington1@verizon.net (cell)
