1 President The Heritage Heartbeat Painting News for Members of Palomar Heritage Painters Vol 36, Issue 1, January 2019 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE At this time of year many of us look back and reflect the past years events and anticipate the future that continues to move forward. This time last year I was just getting the dreaded flu, trying to plan numerous winter trips which I cancelled anyway, watched Leslie put on a marvelous MPI and with anticipation marked my painting calendar for all of the upcoming beautiful projects. Those incredibly talented teachers helped our chapter keep focused on why we love to paint, and how much it soothes the soul to be with people who feel the same. So, thank you to Bobbie T for both times you shared your talents with us, for Onya who proves every time strokes are fun! Loved the beautiful autumn project taught by Donna Carpenter, and of course the always whimsical projects Lori Hillsead creates. The year would not be complete without Sandy Garcia s gentle touch and the multi-talented Carol Ganzi who not only did a class but guided us through that amazing technique with metallic powders at the MPI. As the year ended, we strolled through Paris in the rain with Jack Ragland and coming up a little party line with Terry Holte. And before the new calendar comes out, Ramona Jacobs will once again offer her Cup of Blessings and finally Sandy will surprise everyone with a fun and exciting MPI. What a Year! As a reminder, we still need positions filled for 2019, Ways and Means and Christmas party. There are always things to do in a chapter, so I hope you will reach deep inside your heart and say yes to helping. Marilyn has passed the spatula to Candy, so she can organize hospitality. Please let her know what you would like to bring for January s class. And on a final note, there will be board openings for the 2020 year. I have completed my term and look forward to the next member to step up and guide our chapter. This is not a difficult job and I can help transition. So, you have a year to decide. Fold plastic cloth and put in the holding bag for them. I am passing Pot Luck duties on to Candy Sciarretta.. Please know when you bring a dish to share, it is your responsibility to bring a serving container and large spoon or whatever for serving. We should NEVER use the center's kitchen items. Please stay out of their cupboards and drawers. Keep the floor around your table cleaned up. All trash goes in ONE trash can by the kitchen door. Please plan to stay after painting once in a while and help clean up. The same ladies should not be left to clean up after every meeting.. We do not want to lose this meeting space. Thanks everyone for your help. Marilyn D. imtwincrazy@gmail.com Marilyn Dixon Page 3 The Heritage Heartbeat January 2019

10 Sunshine January Another new beginning. Each January feels like a new beginning. But as my birthday looms on the horizon, it feels like time is passing way too fast. How did I get to be so old? Why do I still have so many things only partially painted? How can I possibly still have so much wood to paint, so many patterns I want to paint, so many painting books to reread? As I look at the list of members who will celebrate their birthday in January, I remember the conversations we have had, the classes we had together and the hope that there will be many more of those memories made. The two zodiac signs associated with January are Capricorn and Aquarius. Capricorns, who are born from January 1 - January 19 are one of the zodiac's most energetic and hardworking of signs. Those born under this sign are sure to always reach towards great achievement. Those born January 20 February 18 are born under the sign of Aquarius. Often the witty, clever, humanitarian, inventive and original person that she truly is, an Aquarius female is also often described as stubborn, unemotional, sarcastic, rebellious and aloof. More often than not, she is loyal and at the same time a tad detached and not overtly expressive in her emotions. The birthstone of the Capriorns of January is the garnet which is mined in a variety of colors, from the fiery orange of Mandarin Garnet to the rich green of Tsavorite Garnet and to the most widely recognized color of Pyrope Garnet, it is considered a great gift to symbolize friendship and trust. The Zodiac sign of Aquarius includes five stones: garnet, amethyst, moss agate, opal and sugilite. Birthdays Marilyn Winder Virginia Davies Dee Bristol Sherry Choquette Barbara Bank Mary Mitchell RoseAnn Linsley As I look at the list of famous people born in January, I recognize fewer and fewer of them. But I do know that Marilyn Winder, Rod Stewart and Pat Benatar were all born on January 10. Virginia Davies celebrates her January 12 birthday with Kirstie Alley, Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern. Dee Bristol and Bill Maher and Lorenzo Lamas celebrate their birthday on January 20. Stacy Bablewski-Meredith and Sherry Choquette celebrate their January 23 birthday with Mariska Hargitay. Barbara Bank celebrates her January 25 birthday with Alicia Keyes and Etta James. A happy birthday song by either one of them would be very special. Mary Mitchell celebrates her birthday on January 27 with James Cromwell and Bridget Fonda. And last is RoseAnn Linsley whose birthday is on January 31 along with Kerry Washington and Justin Timberlake. Jeanne Robert Welcome New Member!
