Everyone is invited to bring a pre-sliced loaf of home-made or bakery bread and a spread to share. Please indicate the type of bread and spread. Coffee and cider will be served. CHRISTMAS THROUGH THE EYES OF JOSEPH By Adam Hamilton He started his journey as an unknown carpenter, but Joseph became the earthly father of Jesus. For his part in the nativity story, he faced a situation much like our own-- encountering life circumstances he didn't choose or understand. In Faithful, Hamilton encourages readers to follow Joseph's example during this Advent and Christmas season, and exchange doubt for courage as we learn to accept and glorify God's will. 5 Volume 23, Issue 11 Page 5 You re Invited to Attend November Charge Conference is being called a Church Conference as we will meet with several other churches in our Atlantic Central District. They are asking as many of our church to attend as possible, not just the Leadership Council, as they are trying to promote connectiveness in our District. Our Church Conference date is: Sunday, November 12th at 3 PM. We will be meeting at the UMC of Palm Beaches. They are located at: 900 Brandywine Rd., West Palm Beach, FL UNITED METHODIST WOMEN All women are invited to attend our United Methodist Women meetings. Mission Team Meeting - Monday, Nov. 20th - 7:00 PM - Library UMW Holiday Bazaar Nov. 11th, 8 AM 1 PM Fellowship Hall Contact Nancy Gettys if you want to attend ( ). UMW BAZAAR is coming! November 11, We will look for your donations of jewelry, baked goods, plants, and Love it Again collectibles that can be sold at the bazaar. Contact circle leaders or Nancy Gettys for more information. There will also be a luncheon and hot dogs. All Saints (November 1 or the first Sunday in November) is a day of remembrance for the saints, with the New Testament meaning of all Christian people of every time and place. We celebrate the communion of saints as we remember the dead, both of the Church universal and of our local congregations. For this reason, the names of persons in the congregation who have died during the past year may be solemnly read. If you have anyone you would like to have read (Immediate family, like mom, dad, sister, brother, or grand-parents) please give the name to Carolyn by Tuesday, October 31st.

If you have a family member in the service, contact Teresa Wilhelm. We will have a special card for everyone to sign for your relative. There will continue to be the regular cards for everyone to sign to send to our fellow church members needing some Lakeside Cheer! Thank you for your faithfulness toward this ministry. You are a Blessing to others! DOWLLs: The regular date is Tuesday, November 21, 2017, 2 days before Thanksgiving. If enough ladies are interested, we will go to Rotelli s in Boynton Beach. Contact Teresa , by Sunday, November 19th if you are interested. Gleaning will not be starting until December due to the problems from the hurricane and flooding. Daylight Savings Time ends next Sunday, November 5th. Don t forget to turn your clocks back. Mission Jar Focus The November Mission Jar Focus will be CROS Christmas. We will be collecting donations of cash in the Mission Jar to help CROS provide families with help for Christmas. Cash or checks accepted. Lakeside blesses our community with a hot, cooked meal on a Saturday at the end of every month. Why not volunteer to help with this ministry? Food prep begins at 2:00PM. The food is boxed in carry-out containers and given out at 4:00PM. Please prayerfully consider joining in this ministry. There is a place for you to help! Saturday, November 18th will be the next Matthew Meals distribution. For more information, see Sally Chennell. FOOD PANTRY MINISTRY FOOD PANTRY UPDATE We often hear the comment, I would like to donate to the Food Pantry, but I don t know what they need! Here is a list of items that are always needed: Baby Food Baby Diapers Baby Wipes Peanut Butter Jelly Big Boxes of Cereal Canned Pasta Rice Spaghetti Canned Soup Canned Fruit CLEAN plastic grocery bags Remember Buy One, Get One offers are a great way to help without spending a lot of cash! Put your donations on the stage nearest the Food Pantry closet. Thank you so very much for your help! Volunteers are needed to assist with this ministry on the 3rd Friday of this month. While the pantry hours are 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, volunteers are needed 9:30AM 12:30PM. For more information, see Sally Chennell. The next date is Friday, November 10th. We are slowly re-stocking the pantry and freezers. We are so thankful that re-stocking is our only concern; so many areas were hit so much harder than us. We are blest to have friends like all of you. We pray for all of your personal concerns as well as the church s needs. I have been questioning whether God wanted me to continue with seminary as the obstacles have been great. You provided the confirmation to keep my head up and to preserve-he will provide.
