Fortunately, we had a packed house at the noon meeting to brighten our day! President Jim Rosenlund rang the bell at approximately 12:05 pm. Members greeted one another and then settled down to listen to Gordon Bidner s Invocation. We then said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the first verse of America, led by Sam Fuller. This week was Bring Your Children to Rotary Week with five children in attendance Addison Taylor (daughter of David Taylor), Kennedy and Payton (daughters of Stephanie McClellan), Morgan Bishop (son of John E. Bishop), and Debbie Lappu (daughter of Art Runyon). Robert Porter was happy to introduce his fiancée Stephanie Chung to the club. David & Addison Taylor Payton, Kennedy & Stephanie McClellan

However, two of our November Students of the Months were in attendance despite not having school today: Alex Rich (Normal West) and Bradley Rozario (NCHS). 3 Judge Bruce Bergethon John E. Bishop was this week s Mystery Host. He gave the $2 bill to John A. Bishop for sharing his name and getting him to join the Normal Rotary Club. Two John Bishops are better than one! Rod Weigelmann won $17 from this week s Lottery. Although he pulled a spade from the deck, it wasn t the correct one so the $466 rolls on to next week. Rod Weigelmann Heather Wagner Judge Heather Wagner fined a few club members for their appearances in The Limited Magazine Sans Rotary Pin. While some were fined, it should be noted that the Judge exercised leniency toward a fellow Judge. The photo on the right might be fodder for next week s Judge.. Steve Dobski & Ryan Fleming If you look closely you ll see that these two were caught once again without their Rotary pins! Congratulations again to Linda Healy on winning the Athena Award and to Ray Ropp on being named an Extraordinary Ordinary Man. Several Rotarians were happy today and shared good news and celebrations with the club. We were especially glad to welcome back Rob Cranston and Larissa McIlvain. Congratulations to Rob on the birth of he & Mary s 1 st grandchild, their trip to Finland where he got to hold his granddaughter, he & Mary s 32 nd wedding anniversary and good medical news! 4 Program: This week s speaker was Sam Fuller, ancestor of Rotarian Art Runyon from about 14 generations back. Sam was 11 years old when he sailed to this continent on the Mayflower. Sam's annual Thanksgiving visit to Normal Rotary is a time to reflect on the bounty in our lives and in our country. Sam observed that the original Mayflower colonists drew up a compact that was a basis for the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. And those colonists suffered through a tortuous first winter before planting 20 acres, which allowed them to survive. Now, the United States is a major food producer in the world. Sam Fuller President Jim ended the meeting with a Thanksgiving an 8,000 calorie poem source unknown: May your stuffing be tasty. May your turkey be plump. May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump. May your yams be delicious and your pies take the prize, and may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off your thighs!
