Stewart told the club about the trip the Association took to Africa to do humanitarian work and how 40 kids from Medicine Hat had to raise $1000 each and to work many Saturdays doing bottle drives to earn $120,000 to cover expenses to go. Their effort was well worth it as these hard working kids, with Medican s help laid the foundation for a hospital, helped build a homeless shelter, helped drill two water wells and re-worked another. Stewart told the story with great enthusiasm and that energy was defiantly felt by the members of the club. The skaters also received publicity from a skateboarding magazine which covered the story. Stewart also told us that they are looking toward the future to bring other skateboarding associations with them on their next trip. Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? I have been so used to taking pictures for so long I m afraid to delete anything and have to rebuild the Lubricator. Don t worry, Editor s Corner I m sure will be a one off sort of thing simply because I don t have enough to keep over 100 Rotarians interested without the benefit of the meeting. I could give opinions on the book Milvia has lent me or my riveting opinions on who is the better leader, Kirk or Picard (don t worry, no debates Marty Eberth regarding Chretien or Harper). So here are some more pictures. I m sure our next meeting and my writing hand will be able to fill the entire Lubricator. 3 President s Remarks: President Mike had very little to say this week as a number of us were leaving for the rural tour so he push through at lighting speed! I m sure there will be much more from our Prez next week.. Minute Matters Joel David spoke about going back to school and how much fun he had and being energized by all the young students that he got to know there. Joel said he plans on going back to investing in Edmonton where his girlfriend is a nurse. Many Rotarians were very happy to see their friend back in Medicine Hat. Adolf said that there are still 7 members who need to do a supper for the dinner club. $gt-at-arms - Adolf Seiler today Even though our meeting was a short one this week it didn t stop our $gt from wreaking havoc so lets see who this weeks victims: Joel David was fined $5 for his upcoming convocation. Terry Brekko got it twice, $5 for taking Adolf s seat and an additional $2 for his birthday. John Moldon was fined $5 for allowing Terry to take Adolf s seat. Gail was fined $1 for his cell phone going off and Karen Blewett gave $1 for being late. Al Gray was fined $5 for his introduction of Richard Munro (Adolf felt it was an excellent ad for Memory Lane). A quick aside, beware when fining the Lubricator staff. The spell check just may not work. Herman Wahl $1 for not having birthday flowers, $5 from Dick Bide for winning the golf club. Dawn Barr was fined $2 for not introducing her guest. Is it the truth? 4 (Are those chocolate timbits?) All birthday boys and girl were fined $2 and Joe Hrankowski $5 for his scary and weird Ukrainian fish mount necklace. Joe, make sure you carry the Febreze wherever you decide to wear it. Happy $ s Ernie had a happy $ for his week with a number of Rotarians in Saskatchewan and Al Gray was happy his 7 year old granddaughter preformed in Madam Butterfly. Wayne Chesley had some money for going to his aunt & uncle s 60th anniversary. Jim, Dave, Jack and Uwe all had money for attending their respective Rotary dinners. Is it the truth?
