TRACK MEET Wn Relay Pennant The annual M.I.A.A. track and feld eet was held at Alur I eld. Albon, last Saturday, and the Hope College thnclads staged a surprse party by pushng the wnner wth a total of 41 ponts and estabshng theselves frly n second place. Albon won the eet and retaned ts ttle wth ponts, although the Hopetes gave the a fne run but lost nut because of the lack of reserve ateral. It s therefore ftlng that n the Meoral Edton of THE ANCHOR, we should lrefly revew the hstory of the eollege and ts founders.... The hstory of Hope College s, an ntegral unt of that of the cty of Holland. However, after the frst years the college and cty hstory have branched. Hope College s the enactent of the drea of tho.-e en and woen of poneer.mlays, the realzaton of ther lofty deals, the fulfllent of ther prophecy. But who were these Plgr Fathers. of the West, and why s Hope CoHfege a denonatonal school an.l 'a r Chrstan nsttuton?.the an- ' swer to these questons takes us back to the second quarter of the nneteenth century, to the land of Uebrandt and of Wlla the Slent. Seals of the Great unverstes such as Yale, Rutgers, Harvard, Prnceton and Mchgan, nterspersed wth the sybols of art, atheatcs, astronoy, scence and lterature, surround the eanngful and honored Hope College Seal, the Anchor of Hope. These beautful wndows are the work of Sgnor G. A. Zucc of Vence, Italy, a eber of the staff of the George Hardy Payne Studos, Paterson, N.
