3 LIMUDEI KODESH UPDATE-BOYS MAZAL TOV To Dear Parents, Chanukah is here and with it the excitement and fun that come along with this special Yom Tov. Surely, here at YBH we make great effort to make Chanukah a most enjoyable and meaningful learning experience. At the same time, Chanukah is also a time to look back at how much has been accomplished in academic and personal growth during the past months. I look forward to sharing details and highlights of curricular milestones in an upcoming article. What can be said to describe our annual YBH Chanukah Mesibah Extravaganza? It s simply an amazing way for each talmid to experience the thrill and beauty of our Yomim Tovim. Specifically tailored to grade level, the boys of grades 1-5 actively participated in a challenging game of Chanukah Jeopardy. Using the halachos and history they ve learned in class, the contestants battled it out with real intensity. The competition was intense, but friendly. Finally the winners emerged to the excited applause of their peers. The next activity featured a fun and delicious doughnut decorating activity. Thank you to our eighth grade boys for assisting the rebbeim in running the program. Leibedig dancing rounded out a really fun morning. The middle school mesibah was equally enjoyable and clearly elevated in sheer excitement. I wish you could all have witnessed the enthusiasm and team spirit in the Chanukah Tishboo (Taboo) game. The game was tight until the very end when the eighth grade pulled out a win in the final round. Our festive meal of chicken wings, French fries and latkes added a seudas mitzvah component. 4 A Peek Into Our Week Rabbi Goldberg s Kitah Alef: Mazal Tov! After much practice and anticipation, the time for our much anticipated Chumash play arrived last Sunday. The talmidim were charged with a special energy and simcha. Their performance surpassed all of our expectations as they belted out their songs and read their parts straight from their hearts. The boys were especially proud when Rabbi Leiner addressed them and they received their chumashim from Rabbi Perlstein. We thank our supportive PTA mothers who set up the delicious refreshments which topped off the event. We are learning from Chumash Bereishis including the shorashim of words. After we heard the entire Chanukah story in full detail, we reinforced our knowledge of the story with our Chanukah booklets. We are slowly adding more tefillos into our daily davening. We are up to y varechicha in Birchos Ha Sha char. The energy in our classroom is strong as the boys daven with geshmak! Ms. Ziegler s Fourth Grade Class: The fourth grade boys have been enjoying literacy centers and our guided readers in small groups. They are also great meteorologists! They peeked out of our classroom window, wrote an entry in their weather journal describing and depicting the correct name for the clouds and the weather. As an introduction to our next lesson in matter, Rabbi Wieder, the YBH middle school science teacher, demonstrated interesting and fascinating experiments on energy and we can t wait to learn more. Rabbi FInkel s Kitah Hey: It is a very exciting time for the fifth grade boys. First we finished learning mashnayos megila and started learning gemara! In honor of this momentous milestone, we had a special breakfast with parents and grandparents. We were priveleged to hear from Harav Zupnik and a choir by the fifth grade boys. We have started learing gemara and have already finished the first sugya! In chumash we have just completed parshas mishpatim. As closure to learning the parsha, we had an exciting game of "mishpatim jeopardy" in the fifth grade classroom. ECD HIGHLIGHTS ECD Pajama Party Thank you to the PTA for this fun event. Chanukah is filled with fun and education. Thank you to Fireman Moshe Starashefsky for talking to the children about fire safety awareness in advance of Chanukah. The lichtig and freilich atmosphere was felt at the Kindergarten and Pre1A Chanukah programs and we look forward to more ECD Chanukah events next week.

With three albums, as well as four music videos, Shaindel has been touring England, Canada and Israel. Miriam Sandler singer, songwriter, Ashira s Musical Director. Graduating from The University of Miami s School with over a decade of professional experience, Miriam now shares her expertise exclusively with women and girls only. Judy Kesler accompanist. Graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of music, composer/arranger and piano instructor with experience teaching children with special needs.
