Guide us in paths of righteousness, heed the blessing of the children of Aaron. Who are the mute ones who will exult in song? Says Rav Mattisyahu Solomon, these are people who had tremendous faith their entire lives, and whenever they saw anything bad occur, they remained silent and never complained. When Moshiach comes and the truth is revealed, they will have confirmation that they were correct and really everything was for the good, and they will break out in song. Rav Avigdor Miller says that this is also the meaning in Tehillim: ) ג : ישמעו ענוים וישמחו (לד May the humble hear and rejoice. The humble ones also have faith that everything is for the good, and they will also rejoice when they hear that they were right. 2 Outstanding Accomplishments Class Acts 1B Ephy Spivak (2B) asked Rashi s question, Why end the פסוק with חיי שרה? שני It s seems extraneous. Chaim Rothberger (2B) suggested a good answer for why there was a repetition in.פסוק the Yosef Rybak (6B) got 69/75 in the Regional Chidon Tanach Contest! Yishai Eisenberg (8B) got 75/75 in the Regional Chidon Tanach Contest. He was one of three students in the USA who received a perfect score. Both students will go onto the National Chidon Tanach Contest. Yeyashru Kochachem! Rabbi Stark he boys came back from Pesach with a T tremendous excitement to learn. We picked up where we left off, but having the advantage of having left Mitzrayim. Practicing our kriah in our new Sefer Tehillim, allowed the boys to recognize how far they have progressed from the beginning of the year, while steadily improving their skills in kriah. In Chumash we have been learning and reviewing many p sukim. After the break we began to focus on finishing Parshas Bereshis. Each boy made a special Haggaddah which allowed us to prepare for our Seder with many Divrei Torah to share. We now have been focusing on linking Pesach and Shavuos and discussing the significance of counting the Omer. We are eagerly waiting to accept the Torah! Class Acts 1B Class Acts 1B Mrs. Shinbein ow! Our Fabulous and Fun First Graders W had an awesome time this week sharing a special day with their favorite stuffed animals. We loved using amazing adjectives to describe our fantastic friends. Stop by and check out our descriptive paragraphs! Everyday our Fabulous First Graders have worked hard and have kept this up all year. They have all grown in so many ways. We have accomplished some awesome skills: Telling time, understanding and using fractions, using a thermometer, writing/composing entire fantasy/narrative/how to paragraphs, comparing animals/humans as well as analyzing how and why bones help, map skills and yes all the while having fun! Our fabulous first graders are very ready for Super Star Second Grade. Great job, Fabulous First! Rabbi Goldberg he first grade completed Parshas T Bereshis the last day before vacation and celebrated with an exciting trip in the elevator to Rabbi Leiner s office to learn the last pasuk with him. Rabbi Leiner explained the pasuk and gave each boy a candy in honor of the simcha of finishing the parsha. It was so nice to see the boys come back from break and start learning Parshas Noach with great enthusiasm. We have also started to read in our new Sefer Tehillim which will reinforce the kriah and give the boys the chance to daven to Hashem on their own. Rabbi Leiner came to our class in honor of our beginning Sefer Tehillim. 2

3 PTA Board Nominations nnual elections for PTA Board positions will be held in a few weeks. We are asking that any ladies who are interested in being more involved in the planning and decision making for the benefit of our children, to please A give us a call. Many of you have volunteered throughout the year, and we greatly appreciate your time and assistance. Here is a chance to really make a difference and enhance your children s school experience. The board meets six times throughout the school year. All positions are open. We encourage you to call any one of us listed below if you would like more information and/or to have your name added to our nomination slate. Positions include: - President (consisting of 1 or 2 people) - Vice- president (consisting of 1 or 2 people) - Secretary - Treasurer - Volunteer coordinator (1 or 2 people) The PTA Board works together as a group lending support to each position and helping and guiding our volunteer co-chairs for all events the PTA organizes. There are many benefits and joys to serving. You ll also appreciate the camaraderie and social aspect. In addition to phoning one of us, you can also your nomination to ybhpta@ybhillel.org. We will be having a meeting to discuss nominations on Monday night, May 7 th at 8:30 PM at the home of Estie Turkel, 384 Terhune Avenue. Names can also be added at the meeting. Final elections will then be held IY H on Monday, June 4th at 8:30 PM. We look forward to hearing from you. Through your involvement, the PTA can continue to achieve its mission of enhancing our children s educational experience by sponsoring special projects and events. 4 I Yom Ha'atzmaut Lunch n honor of Yom Ha'atzmaut the PTA will be coordinating a falafel lunch for the students and faculty of YBH. The lunch will include half a pita, two falafel balls, and iceberg lettuce. Techina, which does contain sesame, will be served on the side for those who want it. This will take place on Thursday, April 26th during lunch. Those children who are signed up for Thursday pizza will still be served their pizza as well. Ink Cartridge Recycling Why not bring your used printer ink cartridges into the YBH office? The empty cartridges are recycled, and the yeshiva earns money back for each cartridge.
