We even make a point of including the בן רשע so that והגדת the mitzvah of מקיים we can be him, (for the purpose of reaching לבנך not to just teach him.) The reason for this is because פרעה was decrees upon the children, as the גוזר pasuk says: כל הבן הילוד היאורה תשליכוהו He had the children placed in the walls as if they were cement and bricks. He also was שוחט the children and bathed in their blood because of his.צרעת This is one of the reasons why we make an children. about the עסק There is a story that took place in the concentra on camps during the Yom Tov of Pesach. Matzohs were obviously very scarce amongst the Jews there. They went to the Blushever Rebbe, Rabbi Yisrael Spira, zt l, with an interes ng ques on. Who should get the matzah? Should it be the elders, the rabbanim, etc.? Should they give small pieces to as many people, which would be שיעור,חצי but at least they will have some matzah? The rebbe decided that the matzah should be given to the children! The adults, he said, will know it s Pesach, whether they eat matzah or not. The young ones will not feel that it s Pesach if they don t eat matzah. This was the הרגש of a tzaddik who spent five years in the camps, his family having been killed and the Nazis having struck a match to his beard. His emunah and feeling for the children was tremendous. This past Wednesday night, I a ended the Torah Umesorah dinner, where one of the honorees was our very own Rabbi Tzvi Rajchgod, rebbe of 6B. He was one of the students of the Aish Dos Rebbe training program. As an accomplished star and rebbe who gives over the beauty and מתיקות התורה to his talmidim, he was chosen to represent the many mechanchim who graduated from this program. As we know, he comes in every day full of energy, ready to make his lessons exci ng for each talmid. We all are proud of his success with talmidim of YBH and beyond, and are honored to have him as a rebbe in our yeshiva. 3 LIMUDEI KODESH UPDATE-GIRLS Dear Parents, As the Yom Tov of Pesach approaches, I have truly enjoyed reviewing the beau ful Haggados that the morahs have been crea ng with their students. Each morah has expended great effort into preparing and teaching the story of Yetzias Mitzrayim with a flavor of hashkafa and Yiras Shamayim while transmi ng the mesorah and founda on of emunah and bitachon. The classes are deeply immersed in absorbing the beau ful limudim being taught with much feeling and sincerity. It is always enjoyable to hear about new projects and crea ve ideas that the morahs have ini ated to enhance the girls connec on to their learning. In middle school, it has been a nachas to observe presenta ons in which the girls researched and prepared their own divrei Torah. Kol Hakavod! R Chatzkel Levenstein, zt l, explains that Yetzias Mitzrayim is the founda on of K lal Yisrael. The miracles of Yetzias Mitzrayim define our essence as a na on and transformed us into ovdei Hashem. Pesach can be described as the Yom Tov of emunah and therefore every lesson that our morohs teach is to help infuse strong roots of emunah in our talmidos. The G.O. girls presented the middah of tznius for the month of Nissan and how it relates to all areas of our lives in the way we act, speak and dress. The medrash relates that B nei Yisrael did not change their names, language and dress in Mitzrayim, which helped bring the geula they were wai ng for. The girls introduced the gadol for this month, Rabbi Yechezkel Landau, known as the Noda B Yehuda, and shared a beau ful story of how tznius is a lifestyle that translates into all areas of our lives. On this note, to encourage the girls to share the divrei Torah and internalize the lessons learned, they will be bringing home a checklist of tasks for which they will receive a reward a er Yom Tov for all that they accomplished. Please con nue to partner with us and discuss with your daughters how they can check off the different areas over the break. In the zechus of all the combined efforts of home and school to provide the proper atmosphere and chinuch for our daughters, may we be zocheh to see much nachas and to the coming of the geula, as chazal state: "בזכות נשים צדקניות נגאלו אבותינו ממצרים" Have a wonderful Shabbos and A Chag Kasher V sameach, Mrs. Chana Frumit Stern Assistant Principal, Girls Division The 4th grade girls have been par cipa ng in a year long program called Yesodei Halashon. The girls have been exploring real life examples of how to navigate interpersonal rela onships and being sensi ve to others in all situa ons. Devorah Mintz and Sheffa Greenspan (7G) designed a beau ful, crea ve poster to display the many topics discussed throughout the year. They explained to the girls how they chose a crown to symbolize that Hashem is our king and we are princesses. We have a responsibility to act and speak in a refined manner and each girl received a bracelet to remind her of her role as a bas melech. 4 A Peek Into Our Week: Morah Strulowitz's Kitah Vav: The students have been hard at work collabora ng with their partners to discuss and create original persuasive speeches on one of three topics discussed in Parshas Ki Sisa and its relevance today; emunah, teshuva and avoda zara. The girls analyzed famous ma amarei chazal about their chosen topic and applied elements of effec ve persuasive wri ng and public speaking to present inspiring and thought provoking speeches to their classmates. Morah Rosenberg's Kitah Daled: Fourth grade has been learning the many halachos and minhagim of Pesach. Its amazing to learn how much the seder revolves around children, and how we do so many things to keep the children interested and curious in order to teach them. We are crea ng beau ful scrapbooks for our Haggados and can t wait to bring them home and share all the divrei Torah that we are learning. We also completed our Shabbos program with Morah Weiss's class and made beau ful projects to remind us what me Shabbos is and to be ready early. Several seventh graders presented a sign to our classroom to remind us of the quali es we need to have as true princesses of Hashem. This is based on our Yesodei Halashon program that we have been learning to improve our middos and social skills. (see previous page) ECD HIGHLIGHTS Morah Shulamith's Pre-1A class recently celebrated the 100th day of school. The boys and girls had a blast making 100 day hats and glasses, stringing 100 Cheerios into necklaces, presen ng their "100 items" to the class (for example: 100 pennies) and of course, ea ng the nosh at our party. Looking forward to coun ng the next 100 days of school! CELEBRATING 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL Mrs. Kagel and Mrs. Samuels Fi h Grade Classes: On March 14 (3/14), the 5th grade girls celebrated the number Pi (3.14) with a Pi Day celebra on. Both classes worked together in groups to visit 7 different sta ons. They had the opportunity to edit a Pi themed paragraph, as well as write a Piku (a poem with three, one and four syllables). They used yarn to measure circles of different sizes, then divided the circumference and the diameter to see if there was a correla on. They read Sir Cumference and the First Round Table by Cindy Neuschwander, and completed a problem and solu on graphic organizer. They cut a circle into 8 even pieces and pasted the pieces into a shape of a parallelogram. Then they inves gated the rela onship between the radius of the circle and the height of the parallelogram. The girls also received the Pi sign on cardstock and had the opportunity to color and bejewel their papers. The last sta on was a Pi number memoriza on sta on. You would be amazed at how many numbers of Pi some of the girls were able to memorize! It was a wonderful opportunity to take a math concept and create cross curricular ac vi es that both classes were able to join together and enjoy. Morah D vorah s Kitah Alef: Learning from our new Chumash has been very exci ng and rewarding. We started from the beginning of Beraishis, and we are comple ng Yom Shayni. It is very special to see the words in the Chumash and to recognize the different shorashim, that we have learned before. We have been preparing for Pesach and the seder. We will be able to follow along at the seder, and really know what is going on. We have worked on this for the past few weeks, and we are excited to be able to par cipate this year, following along, and reading from our very own special Haggadah.
