It was at this point, says the medrash, that the Torah crowned Moshe as "the shepherd, רועה צאן and soon to be the ומשה הי' רועה Not only do we see Moshe as.בני ישראל being נושא בעול to Hashem s crea ons who can speak, but to animals as well. 2 GRANDMOTHER-MOTHER-DAUGHTER BRUNCH HIGHLIGHTS

3 LIMUDEI KODESH UPDATE-GIRLS Dear Parents, The annual Grandmother Mother Daughter brunch for grades 2 5 on Sunday was a most memorable event for all who a ended. Weeks of planning, prac cing, prepara ons and an cipa on crystallized into an event that shone as one of the highlights of the year. The theme of זמן ועת,לכל There's a Time for Everything, was elegantly displayed in the decor and emerged through the amazing musical performances presented by the girls. It was heartwarming to see all the girls on stage for the finale as they sang our theme song for this year, ז,תשע with pride. Of course, a produc on of such magnitude would be impossible without the input of countless individuals who gave willingly of their me and talents, which is greatly appreciated. Thank you to the morahs and to Mrs. Vann for coordina ng the performances which allowed each girl to shine. A special men on to Mrs. Flam (Art teacher) for working with the 5th grade Art Commi ee to produce a beau ful banner. A huge hakaras hatov to the chairwomen, MRS. PENINA GOLDMAN AND MRS. ELANA SUDWERTS, who once again dedicated hours of their me to ensure the כל העוסקים בצרכי צבור event; success of the באמונה, הקב ה ישלם שכרם. As we near the midway point of the year, it is my pleasure to reflect on the accomplishments of each grade. The textual and analy cal skills of the girls displayed on assessments and projects bring us true nachas. I had the opportunity to observe and receive feedback about siyumim that were celebrated by mul ple classes. Morah Krupenia s 8th grade girls presented crea ve and meaningful poems and posters at their Chumash siyum depic ng lessons they learned. It was an upli ing celebra on and of course, there was lots of good food. First graders celebrated comple ng learning all the script le ers of the Hebrew alphabet with a cupcake party, where they designed cupcakes with the script א ב- le ers. Morah Millman s 6th grade class presented beau ful projects through song and drama on a tefillah they had researched. These are just some examples of the wonderful ways YBH girls connect and internalize lessons they have learned. I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable mid winter break. Although it s a vaca on from school we are always commi ed to the lessons of Torah taught at YBH. As an incen ve for the girls to con nue their daily tefilos and reinforce the wonderful lessons learned, the girls in grades 1 6 were given a chart to complete over the break highligh ng accomplishments that they will be rewarded for. We look forward to returning from the break invigorated and ready to resume our learning. May we con nue to shep nachas from all YBH girls. Have a wonderful Shabbos and vaca on! 4 A Peek Into Our Week: Morah Rosenberg's Kitah Daled completed an Ivrit project in which the girls designed and made their own closets and wrote descrip ons of each ar cle of clothing inside their closets. We are now working on a chibur in which each girl is wri ng a paragraph describing her own par cular doll, using a descrip ve word for each noun with the proper dikduk. It s amazing to see how their wri ng skills have improved and the accuracy of their Ivrit descrip ons. ECD HIGHLIGHTS The three Pre 1 A classes joined together to celebrate their siyum on sefer Berayshis. The yeladim answered ques ons about stories in the sefer. The three children whose answer cards matched to a par cular ques on, got to sit together and be chavrusas. The children enjoyed ea ng the fruit and vegetables they prepared as well as the nosh. The achdus was beau ful and reminded us of the happy reunion of Yosef and his family. Morah Rabinowitz's Kitah Beis: The second grade girls are involved in a Chofetz Chaim Heritage Founda on program called Shipur Bidibur, enhancing rela onships through proper speech. We have songs, poems, and stories illustra ng the power of speech. We are concentra ng on coloring each others lives in bright, beau ful colors by using posi ve speech. Morah Balk s Kitah Zayin: Our class has been focusing on the concept of making good choices. When learning about Yosef in Parshas Vayigash, the class analyzed how Yosef made the choice to not be angry at his brothers for selling him and we discussed making good choices in our own lives. This relates to what we are learning in Sefer Bamidbar, how B nei Yisrael could have made be er choices when they complained about not having meat in the midbar as well as when the meraglim reported nega vely on Eretz Yisroel. Both of these situa ons could have been avoided if B nei Yisrael had focused on the good that Hashem had promised them. The girls wrote three things that they were grateful for in their lives and what they were proud of having accomplished in the past week (in school or at home) and placed their notes in our "Jar of Posi vity." To help us focus on the good, we read a few selec ons from the book Emunah with Love and Chicken Soup, about the enormous amounts of chessed that Rebbetzin Henny Machlis did throughout her life. On Friday, we read the notes and celebrated our successes together. This was truly a great way to go into Shabbos! Mrs. Bromberg s Second Grade Class: The second grade girls are sharpening their wri ng skills as they write le ers to their new pen pals in Silver Spring, MD. They are very excited to receive le ers back from their new friends. In a sequencing ac vity, the girls raced to place how to cards in the correct order. They are also wri ng their own instruc ons on how to bake a cake, build a snowman and make a jelly sandwich. Morah Mandel's Kitah Alef was very excited to start working with shorashim in our designated centers. Using magne c fishing rods, one group caught shorashim fish in our blue Yam HaShorashim. Girls at another center busily scavenged through a pile of alef beis tracers to find the le ers they needed to form shorashim to trace. The class enjoyed stamping the shorashim and forming various Shorashim with the correct transla on using neon colored Wiki S x. Another thrilling highlight of the week was our Kesivah siyum. Both first grade classes had a great me icing delicious cupcakes as each girl carefully iced her favorite kesivah le er on a cupcake. The girls also decorated their own beau ful hats with the en re alef beis and wore them proudly throughout the day. Finally, Morah Sora's class can't wait to complete the Kriah produc on they are currently working on. The girls displayed their knowledge of the shvah na and nach rules on video, through ac ng, singing and clay crea ons. This will be the grand finale to our exci ng "red and green" Kriah program, geared to providing visual and kinesthe c cues to students as they enjoy learning through all modali es. 1G M celebrated learning all the kesivah le ers Mrs. Flam, the girls art teacher, has requested the following recycled items be sent in for future projects. Students can bring the materials to the art room where there will be a designated box for these items: Soda cans, ssue boxes, shoe boxes, used tea lights, bu ons, nuts, bolts, screws, nails, paper board from dry cleaned shirts, toilet paper and paper towel tubes and Pringles containers.
