The pit has been filled with debris and a log has been placed in it to caution motorists. Calling volunteers for free service in Tirumala Sevas (Pallavaram) sends volunteers to Tirumala for a week-long free service starting on Mondays and ending on Sundays. 4 Page 4 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Brindavan Street Extn. pedestrian unfriendly Sir, Brindavan Street Extn. is an arterial road connecting West T. Nagar with Mambalam and Ashok Nagar. Apart from regular vehicles, school buses, heavy vehicles and MTC buses also use this road, and traffic is heavy during peak hours. The road margins are used permanently for parking cars and trucks thereby reducing the carriageway. Free flow of traffic is affected and pedestrians are forced to walk in the middle of the road thereby putting their lives at risk. Resident associations and individuals have appealed to traffic authorities several times to enforce No Parking rule on the road but to no avail. About two years back, the police convened a meeting in which this grievance was raised and the authorities had then promised that they would allow parking only on one side of the road. This was welcomed, but nothing happened afterwards. I request the authorities concerned in the Traffic Cell to immediately implement No Parking rule in Brindavan Street Extn. to ease traffic flow and make it safe for pedestrians. S. It has since been set upright by EB workers and placed atop its brick foundation. It is now standing precariously on three legs and resting on the compound wall of the plot adjacent to it. It can topple over anytime and poses a grave danger to unwary passersby. I have made several complaints to EB officials but no action has been taken so far. Nearly 3 feet of its platform is extending off the pavement and onto the road margin. It is hampering movement of vehicles and is also posing a danger at night as the protrusion is not clearly visible. I appeal to the officials concerned to demolish the portion of the platform that is extending into the carriageway. Dr. R. Narasimhan, T. Nagar Be wary of phishing over phone Sir, The other day, a caller, identifying himself as a senior SBI official, told me that my debit card has been blocked. When I asked him what he was talking about, he stated that my SBI Debit card has become invalid. Suspecting foul play, I told him that I do not have a bank account with SBI and disconnected the call. I then personally went and met the branch manger and told him about the unsolicited phone call. He checked my account and told me that my debit card was active and said I did the right thing by cutting the call. He further stated that no bank official will solicit any financial/bank information over phone. He explained further that such callers would misguide one with sweet talk or threats and try to extract details like card number, ATM pin/password by promising to revalidate the card, and misuse it for swindling money from the account or do online purchases. Rubbish chokes sewage canal LETTER TO THE EDITOR Damaged EB post in Moorthy Street Extn. poses danger Sir, I reside in Moorthy Street Extn. There are three 20-foot tall concrete TNEB posts in our street with cables for providing power to some of the older houses. The other houses in the street get supply through underground cables. One of the concrete posts in front of my house is in a damaged condition. There are huge cracks in the post and it is likely to fall anytime thereby posing a grave danger to passersby. There is a likelihood of its toppling into our compound as well. We have sent a complaint to TNEB officials and appeal to them to replace the post immediately. We have also appealed in the letter to remove the three posts and provide supply to the houses using underground cables as it would be a permanent solution.
