4 MCRC ANNOUNCEMENTS THANK YOU We would like to say thank you to everyone for your prayers, cards, and meals through the healing process of my meniscus surgery. What a blessing! SUNDAY WORSHIP Pastor Tim & Heidi are attending parent s weekend at Dordt. We welcome Randy Van Dyk to our pulpit for the morning service and Jonathan Owens from Bozeman CRC in the evening service. NEXT SUNDAY In the morning service we will welcome Ken Zylstra. Ken comes to us from Rehoboth Christian School. Howard Walhof will be giving an update from Disaster Relief/World Renew. Next Sunday evening we will have a special service of praise in our church celebrating All Saints Day. PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH The entire month of October has been designated as a time of appreciation for pastors and their families. Please remember Pastor Tim, Heidi, and family with a card, note, or some other means of expressing your appreciation. All year long we are blessed by their ministry, so let s make the most of this opportunity to say Thanks for all they do! 6 MCRC ANNOUNCEMENTS CONTINUED HARVEST FESTIVAL The Harvest Festival will be held on Saturday, October 27. Join with the school and community to celebrate this beautiful fall season and harvest! There is something for everyone! Bring the whole family to participate in the 2 mile Fun Run beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by the kids carnival games (10:00-12:00). Enjoy lunch and support the fundraising by purchasing baked goods and pies, handmade crafts and decor, holiday gifts, Dutch specialties. Don t forget the silent and live auctions. MCS greatly benefits from the generosity of our community, extended families, and alumni. Consider how you can help to make this a successful fundraiser. There are many ways you can be involved. CHURCHILL RETIREMENT HOME Halloween Community Event is happening on Wednesday, October 31 from 6 PM to 7PM for children ages 9 years and younger in the dining room. Where else can you receive 40 pieces of candy at one stop?! :) No costumes are necessary and we ask that children must be accompanied by an adult. If you would be willing to donate candy to this event, please bring your donations to the office. Last year we went through 210 pounds of candy!! WOW! The intergenerational exchange that takes place between your child and the Residents is priceless! Please plan to stop in before Gems or Cadets. 9 PRAYER REQUESTS CHURCH FAMILY We have several items for praise: Ray Van Dyken is doing better and was scheduled to be released from the hospital. Fay Smit also has recovered well enough to return to the Retirement Home. Wes & Brenda Asher s daughter, Jennifer, is doing well and hopes to return to her teaching position soon. Give thanks for answered prayers for Sheila Heidema - that the recent tests revealed no new spots in her brain. She will be having another scan this coming Wednesday. Please pray for positive results. Maynard Flikkema will be having surgery for spinal stenosis on Friday, October 26 in Billings. He expects a 4-hour surgery and 4 days in the hospital if all goes well. Please keep him in your prayers for a smooth and successful surgery. Be in prayer for Cassidy Visser as she deals with blood pressure issues and as she waits to see her doctor in November. Please pray for continued safety as the remaining crops are harvested. Continue to pray for baby Shirah Luther, the granddaughter of Patrick and Holly Luther, and daughter of Elias and Blu Luther. Pray that she will grow in strength as she deals with her kidney issues. Pray for Gary Bos as he deals with chronic lung problems. Keep Sadie Schipper in your prayers as she deals with cancer. Pray for peace and strength for her every day. Rob & Julie Hager thank you for your faithful and continued prayers. Pray for strength and wisdom as they deal with Rob s health. EXTENDED CHURCH FAMILY & COMMUNITY Pray for Steve and Jennifer Sofie s cousin, Michelle, as she deals with cancer in her lungs that is similar to the cancer that was in her sinuses last fall. Pray that she will have strength and peace, and pray for her family, too. Please continue to pray for Dave Huttinga as he suffers with lung cancer. Jeanette Visser requests prayer for her grandson, Albert Brown, who is serving time in Deer Lodge.

10 PRAYER REQUESTS CONTINUED SUPPORTED MISSIONARIES & THE GLOBAL CHURCH Be in prayer for Mark Eekhoff as he returns to his work in Nairobi, Africa. Pray for him as he works to organize the AIM Missionary Conference in November; and also as he considers his plans for the future. Pray for Kurtis Schutter as he works for the Navigators in the Netherlands. Pray for him and his new wife, Amelia, as they adjust to married life in Amsterdam. Remember to pray for Will and Dorothea Kirkendall as she works as Prayer Coordinator for Wycliffe. Pray for safe travel for them as they attend their daughter s wedding in California this weekend. Continue to pray for Daryl and Carol Van Dyken, as they adjust to life in Cyprus. They are thankful that: - Daryl s trip to West Asia last week was successful in terms of having a good meet and greet with the station owner, and doing some repairs on equipment at the transmitter site which sends Gospel programming to Iraq and Iran. - they signed a lease on an apartment and they are very excited the Lord provided a wonderful place that includes everything they needed. - They ask that we pray that their work permits would come through quickly. Also, please continue to pray against the reading of the Koran which is happening on the PANI (Pakistan, Afghanistan, India) transmitter, overriding their signal. Pray for Lauren and Connie Runia and their work in translation for Wycliffe. They ask us to pray for: - their upcoming training trip to PNG; for safe travel, good health, and unity as they work as a team with the local community where the dubbing will take place. - that they will have the opportunity in the village to share with the people the importance of spending time in God s Word. - for the Solomon Islands team as they begin to record the books of Jonah and Ruth in the Malango language. Pray for John Westra as he visits prisoners and leads Bible study with Bozeman Prison Ministries. Pray for the work that Pastor Jack does at Montana State Prison.
