Let s not be too hasty in defining who is the wicked one and who (namely us) is just! We are very quick to label others as evil, because we tend to label ourselves as good guys. We don t like it when we are brought up short by a prophetic voice that brings us some bad news about our own behavior. We don t like to be reproached for transgressions of the law or charged with violations of our training. We may condemn and abuse those who bring us up against these truths about ourselves when, if we were really good, we would thank them for helping to keep us on the right path. This is the way they treated the prophets and the way they treated Jesus. Is this also the way we treat those whose message we don t like? 4 PRAYER ROSARY RALLY AND MASS AT ST. MARY S CATHEDRAL Saturday, October 6 from 9am 2pm 1111 Gough Street, San Francisco Join Catholics from around the Bay Area at the 8th Annual Rosary Rally. In keeping with Pope Francis 2018 instructions, this year s theme is Accompaniment of Youth The day will include Mass, Eucharistic Procession, Renewal of the Consecration of the Archdiocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Crowning of the Cathedral image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP Thursdays from 2 4 pm in the St. Francis Room Weekly Prayers and Scripture Reflections. All are welcome to attend. Within the joys and hopes, struggles and challenges, dreams and visions, griefs and anxieties, prayers and reaching out of everyone of us there is the need for growth, the desire for deepening formation, ever-growing closer to our God, one another and all of God's creation. COMMEMORATION OF THE TRANSITUS OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 pm The Secular Franciscans of Our Lady of Angels Fraternity in Burlingame will commemorate the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi, his passage from earthly life into everlasting life. Join us for a candlelight procession, scripture readings, writings and stories of St. Francis, hymns, and the litany of Franciscan Saints. Refreshments to follow. The Coordinator directs the archdiocesan ministry and accompanies those who have been involved in abortion. The ministry is a network that includes specially trained priests, the Contemplatives of St. Joseph, counselors, and laypersons. The Coordinator reports to the Director of the Office of Human Life and Dignity. Required: a Catholic with pastoral counseling/post-abortion ministry experience; understands the role of mercy and the healing power of the sacraments, particularly the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Items can be dropped off in the Hall of Saints on Saturday between 3:00 5:00 pm and Sunday morning between 7:00 10:00 am. All proceeds will benefit those affected by the fires in Santa Rosa. SECOND COLLECTION September 23 This Weekend at all Masses Priest s Retirement Fund Our parish is participating in a special collection for the Archdiocese of San Francisco s Priests Retirement Fund. This collection helps ensure that the basic needs and health insurance of our retired priests are met.
