Instead they are guideposts that point us in the direction of good living. Accordingly, good living requires loving God and loving one another. We should not follow God s laws out of fear of what might happen if we don t, but rather view them as a foundation for building relationships and trust with one another and with God. The Shema prayer of Orthodox Jews is based on the reading from Deuteronomy today, Hear, O Israel. Every morning people recite the prayer as a profession of their love for God and pledge their obedience to God throughout the day. They pass on their love of God to their children, from one generation to the next. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. 4 PRAYER PARISH HEALING ROSARY Tuesday, November 6 6:30 6:45 pm OLA Church DAILY ROSARY Weekdays at 7:40 am Join us on weekdays before the 8:00 am Mass. All are welcome. BAPTISMS AT OUR LADY OF ANGELS If you are a first time parent, Congratulations! To prepare for your child s baptism, you are asked to attend a Baptism Preparation Class. This class is offered on the second Tuesday of the month (September May). The next class will be held on November 13. Please contact the rectory office at (650) to register. ALL SOULS REMEMBRANCE ENVELOPES All Souls Remembrance envelopes can be found in your weekly envelope box. They were also mailed to non-enveolope users in October. If you need additional envelopes, they are available in the rectory. All 6:30 am weekday Masses during the month of November will be offered for those named on the envelopes. The envelopes can be mailed to the rectory or put in the Sunday collection basket. The envelopes will be present on the altar at all Masses throughout November. To sign up, please visit: BIBLE STUDY GALATIANS Tuesdays, beginning January 15, from 7-9 pm Paul s fascinating letter to the Galatians reveals the merciful love God has for us. It speaks of the extraordinary gift of salvation that Jesus has won for us, and it explains how we can unite ourselves to Christ s redeeming sacrifice through faith and love. $35 for the cost of the study guide. SCHOOL OF RELIGION At several of the Masses this weekend, we will be celebrating the Rite of Enrollment for our sacramental students. We welcome these young people into our parish family recalling the welcome we all received at the door of our church when we were baptized. The children will express their faith that Jesus is present in the Eucharist. At Baptism, their parents and godparents spoke for them. Now as they prepare for another step in their initiation, they freely speak for themselves. Please keep these youngsters in your prayers as they continue their preparation for the Sacrament of Eucharist the rest of this year.

The funds will support the core programs of academic, spiritual, and pastoral formation of priests. HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE Please join us in our St. Vincent de Paul food drive to fill our OLA pantry. Our OLA ministers take these foods with them during their home visits to assist struggling families in San Mateo county. You can drop off cans in the vestibule bins in the library from now until Thanksgiving. Items needed include boxed cereal, boxed soy, almond and rice milk, cans of tuna, chicken or ham, canned fruits and vegetables, crackers, pasta, rice, beans, peanut butter, jam, and toilet paper. THANKSGIVING BOXES FOR CALL PRIMROSE Please Fill a Thanksgiving Box" for CALL Primrose and bring it to our monthly Cafe OLA+ Community Service Hour on November 11 following the morning Masses to decorate the box and create Thanksgiving cards. Boxes and food lists are available in the church vestibule. Also, please bring any leftover Halloween candy to this event for our troops overseas. We are going to fill their Thanksgiving boxes as well.
