The trail essentially follows the perimeter of our State. Everett is a middle school music teacher who lives in Lakewood. He is also the nephew of George and Karen Brandt. Everett will share the stories of his experience, what he saw and who he met during this unique summer challenge. Coffee begins at 8:00; breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Visitation for Marci Bidinger Bradley in the Narthex (Nora Houser s daughter) 12:00 p.m. Celebration of Life for Marci Bradley in the Sanctuary with Rev. Perfect for mementoes of our Bicentennial celebrations, and for gifts for your family and friends of Bath Church, they can become part of your family's annual Christmas décor, and beautiful reminders of friends and fellowship at The Bath Church. FAMILY PROMISE GOLD STAR CHALLENGE! Bath Church is accepting the Family Promise Gold Star Challenge to raise $1,000+ by Tuesday, October 30th. Prayers for Mexico: On this World Communion Sunday, oh God of love and mercy, may we open our hearts, not only, to the reality of your love for us as individuals beloved, but also, to your call to serve. As we come to your table to share this meal of bread and cup; open our

3 hearts, our minds, our arms to the life-giving ritual where everyone in welcome. Oh God of mercy and grace, open our eyes to the reality of service in your name is valuable even necessary as we seek to follow the teachings of Jesus. Oh God of Grace and wonder open paths before us, paths that lead us to see the value and dignity in those we serve more than seeking to be recognized for the service we offer. Oh God of wonder and mystery, touch our hearts anew with the spiritual truth that, as we celebrate this World Communion Sunday; not only do we share in communion meals around the world, but also, with the saints of old. New Members will join Sunday, November 4. YOUTH CONFIRMATION CLASSES begin this Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 108. The classes are open to youth in 8th grade or above wishing to be confirmed on Sunday, May 5, The class is led by Rev. Doty: / ddoty@bathucc.org FALL APPEAL MISSION OFFERING was collected last Sunday and dedicated to support the United Church Homes Campaign for Abundant Life. If you missed it, no problem Mission giving envelopes are in each pew, in the Narthex, and simply make a notation on your check Fall Mission Appeal. United Church Homes operates a system of 70 senior living communities the closest one being the Chapel Hill Community in Canal Fulton. NEW WALL OF HONOR : As part of our church s Bicentennial, a Musicians Wall of Honor has been created along the hallway outside the Music Room (#203). Come and see those who have helped us learn more of God s Word through music over the first 200 years of our existence! WATERCOLOR CLASSES are being offered by Cathy Welner on Thursdays from 9-12:00 in the Community Room for all levels of artists! To join, contact the church office. WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS have begun! BATH CHURCH BABYSITTING DIRECTORY: Akron General Lifestyles facility in Bath is offering a basic skill class for babysitting. This class is available to those age 11 and up on Friday, October 12 (no school for Copley/Revere), from 9-4:00 p.m. Once you have completed the course you can be added to the NEW Bath Church Babysitting Directory. The directory will only be provided to Bath Church families and will only include Bath Church youth babysitters. The cost of the class is: $55 Lifestyle members; $75 guests. 4 HEY MAVIS: Thursday, October 18 from 7-9:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Akron (292 E. Market Street, Akron). Including vocals, banjo, violin, bass & drums this Americana-folk band from Kent was formed by Laurie and Eddie Caner while serving as artistsin-residence in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Their latest project Silver Ribbon Dream: People & Stories of the Ohio & Erie Canal has received reviews ranging from unconventionally beautiful to startlingly original. Hey Mavis has produced 3 CDs; with some of the recording done here in our Sanctuary! TRUNK OR TREAT Sunday, October 21 from 4-6:00 p.m. Here s our chance to have some Halloween fun together! Have kids or grandkids? Dress them up and come have some safe family fun. Kids grown up? Come share in the fun!!! Grab a bag of candy, park your car, decorate your trunk and enjoy viewing all the great costumes and passing out candy. This event is open to all Bath Church members, young and young-at-heart. It s a great chance for us to have some fun together!!! THANKSGIVING PIE SALE! We will begin taking pie orders Sunday, October 21. Pie order deadline will be Sunday, November 4. Pie pick up will be Tuesday, November 20. All pies are frozen, ready to bake. All money raised will go towards our youth mission opportunities. SAVE THE DATE: Bath Church Dine Around Town will take place Friday, November 16. We will dine out in small groups (you pay your own tab) and meet at the church afterwards for dessert and fellowship Hosts will be making reservations for 8 at their restaurant of choice. Signup sheets will be posted in the Narthex for you to choose from a list of hosts/restaurants and select where to dine. You then meet at that restaurant at 6:00 p.m. and after dinner everyone meets at the church for dessert at 8:00! ACME COMMUNITY CASHBACK PROGRAM: Buy store brands at Acme and turn in your register receipts dated August 9 December 29. We earn 5% cashback! Collection boxes are in the coat rack area off the Narthex and in the church office. APOLLO S FIRE CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE at Bath Church: Christmas on Sugarloaf Mountain will be performed Monday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This concert is always sold out. To get the best seats, consider buying your tickets now. The people of the mountains welcome Christmas with Love, Singing, Dancing and Prayer. Tickets are $52, $39 and $26. $5 discount for seniors; children's tickets are $10. Call x 1 or go to ApollosFire.org where you ll find videos and samples of the music. There will also be two Section A tickets in the Fall Festival Silent Auction! It's a great show - and will sell out - so buy your tickets today! SPLASH CLASSIFIED ADS: Your Bath Church Mission Board has been a faithful supporter of the Battered Women s Shelter (now called the Center for Hope and Healing). They have an immediate staffing need that is causing them to be unable to prepare meals for their residents. This paid positon would include 24 hours of work weekly between the hours of 10:30 and 6:30 pm (covering lunch and dinner meals). Please respond with a resume or questions to Gretchenh@scmcbws.org.
