(The first set of eggs we ordered were delayed a week and would hatch AFTER Easter, so we placed a 2 nd order of eggs due to hatch during Holy Week. Voile! The Evangelism & Spiritual Life Board s mission is to express God s love by providing a gracious welcome to members and visitors; to promote the spiritual life of the congregation through music, art, retreats and devotional materials; and to complement the work of the Music, Education, Diaconate, and Caring Ministries. NAMES FOR CHURCH LEADERSHIP REQUESTED: The Leadership Council and Nominating Committee are asking the congregation for names from the membership to fill some open Board and committee positions. Please submit names to the church office. COME TOUR OPEN M with members of our Mission Board on Monday, April 24 at 11:30 a.m. We will carpool from the church at 11:00 a.m. or you can meet us at OPEN M (941 Princeton St. Akron 44311). Our mission is to learn about their important work in the Summit Lake area. Please RSVP to the church office so we have enough packets available. FIDELIS LADIES GUILD will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 27 in the Bridal Lounge. There will be a short meeting and an interesting program, followed by lunch in the Hospitality Room. Bring a sandwich to share and come join us! SWAG FUNDRAISER THURSDAY, APRIL 27! This event will be held at First Congregational Church of Hudson (FCCH) from 6:00-8:30 p.m. and includes Dinner (a salad / baked potato / dessert bar and assorted gourmet coffees), a Chance Auction, and Talent Show featuring SWAG, Hudson, and Bath Youth. $30/person; $50/couple; $75/family max; $200/table sponsor for a SWAG family. The deadline is this Sunday. Tickets are available in the Narthex. FAMILY PROMISE VOLUNTEER TRAINING Thursday, April 27 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Family Promise Day Center (111 E. Voris St., Akron). To register, call Family Promise ( ). FREE HANDS-ON CPR CLASS will be taught in Fellowship Hall on Sunday, April 30 from 1-3:00 p.m. by our own Mary Schatz. $5.00 box lunches are being offered. This is a noncertified class covering basics of CPR, choking relief, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). All ages are welcome. Reservations are required; sign up in the Narthex or church office. WORK CAMP MEETING on Sunday, April 30: This year our youth and adult team will be heading to Charlotte, New York, July If you have not registered, let Rev. Adam know ASAP if you are interested in going. A Work Camp meeting for parents and youth will be Sunday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. We will go over trip details, finish filling out forms & online registrations, as well as answer any questions. Remember, while active participation in Youth Activities is not required, it is recommended to enhance the trip experience. ONE LAST CLARINET PERFORMANCE will be on Monday, May 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Akron Public Library (60 S. High St., Akron) featuring The Venner Clarinet Choir, sponsored by our own Jim Stahl, one of the performers. Thirteen players; six different kinds of clarinets. They re amazing!

4 DORCAS & FIDELIS TO TOUR BOYERT S GREENHOUSE: Our two ladies guilds have planned a get-together outing to Boyert s Greenhouse & Farm in Medina on Thursday, May 4 with lunch afterwards at Sully s Irish Pub. Sounds like fun! Meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. to carpool. MEN S MONTHLY BREAKFAST on Saturday, May 6 may be one of the most touching, interesting and inspirational programs ever! Our speaker will be US Veteran Bernie Rardin who served our country during WWII and was a participant in The Battle of Iwo Jima. The coffee will be ready at 8:00 a.m., breakfast is served at 8:30 and we attempt to adjourn by 9:30. Invite a guest! Ladies are welcome! AAIC WALK FOR HUNGER on Sunday, May 7 with 2:00 Registration and 3:00 p.m. Walk at Unitarian Universalist Church (3300 Morewood Rd., Fairlawn) and 2.5 mile options. Stay for food and fellowship after the Walk. All proceeds support the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. Non-perishable food donations will be collected at Registration. You can register/sponsor in the Narthex. BIBLE STUDY with Rev. Daniel Doty beginning Wednesday, May 10 for five weeks at 1:00 p.m. in Room 202. The class will study the book Fear of the Other by Will Willimon. Copies will be available for $10. Rooted in the faith of Israel and the Christian story and vision, Willimon brings a unique perspective to bear on what may be the hardest thing for people of faith to do: keeping and loving the "Other" as they are - without any need for them to become like us. FAMILY PROMISE FEETS & SEATS NEED: There is a collection box in the Narthex for new, unopened packages of underwear and socks (all ages, male/female/child sizes). BATHROOM UPDATE! The second floor bathroom has been renovated as a family bathroom with new paint, flooring, vanity, mirror, lighting and a baby changing station! The privacy stall and urinal were removed. A BIG thank you to Dave Claes and John Sandora for doing this in their spare time, along with a few other helping hands! Thank You! Thank You! UCC STATEMENT ON VIOLENCE: Officers of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have published a joint statement in response to recent violence in the Mideast. Copies are in the Narthex and church office. AS WE EAGERLY AWAIT the arrival of baby boy Marquette, the Card Ministry invites you to share in the preparation! Adam and Cecilia are registered at Target.com and Baby Sweet Pea in Green. We welcome baby cards and contributions for baby Marquette s needs! We will be collecting your well wishes during the month of April. There is a collection box in the church office. FRIENDS OF THE CARPENTER meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month (next one is 5/3) in the Narthex at 9:00 a.m. and finish whenever (flex time.). Come have a cup of coffee and help with a variety of projects; which right now include: cleaning out items from the garage and storage barn, cleaning out and organizing areas of the church basement, and touching up paint (interior and exterior, weather permitting).
