1 R E D E E M E R M O N T H LY O c t o b e r A Newsletter for Members and Friends of Redeemer Lutheran Church 1700 West Fair Avenue, Marquette, Michigan Redeemer s Mission...inviting all people to become students, believers and followers of Jesus Christ. New Message Series Starting in October New Member Class New Member Class Begins in October This class is for those people interested in joining Redeemer or finding out more about the Christian faith and the Lutheran Church. The class will be held on Sunday mornings beginning October 14, 21, 28 and November 4 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The class will run for four weeks. If you are in need of child care please contact the church office to let us know so that it can be arranged. If someone asks, Who are you? how would you answer that? Sure, there are the obvious answers: You describe your relationship status, what you do for a living, and even your interests. But is this who you really are? Isn t there much more to what makes you you? The problem is, if you don t know who you are, you may sell yourself short on what you are truly on this earth for. When we realize that through Christ, our identity and our purpose are all connected, it changes everything. So who do you think you are? If you have any more questions about the class please feel free to talk to Pastor Chad or Pastor Daniel. If you plan to attend these classes please let us know by calling This will help the office plan for the correct amount of materials. Series Schedule October 6, 7 I am Royalty October 13, 14 I am Created October 20, 21 I am an Alien October 27, 28 I am Free (Reformation Day) November 3, 4 I am a Temple (All Saints)

3 Scrip Cards Benefit Redeemer s Youth, Preschool and Child Care We re pleased to share that the Scrip program at Redeemer has been very successful. What is Scrip? Scrip is simply a word that means substitute money in other words, Scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They are the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our Scrip program including Econo Foods, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Holiday Gas, Applebee s, Red Lobster, Dairy Queen and many, many others. You re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It s simple Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our church at a discount. Families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our church receives a percentage as revenue. The beauty of Scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. Your Scrip purchase earns money for our youth group, child care and preschool without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with Scrip at the stores that participate in the Scrip program! Scrip cards are available to purchase after each worship service in the narthex with volunteers available to take your Scrip orders, or drop them off in the church office. Questions? Contact Kay Beauchamp or Jane Ryan The Scrip Team for more information. Give Scrip cards in October for Halloween candy and costumes. In November for Thanksgiving dinner, hunting and Black Friday shopping. Plan ahead for Christmas shopping and holiday travelling with Scrip. Women Crafting for a Purpose (WCP) Women Crafting For a Purpose (WCFP) meets this month on Monday, October 22 nd at 6:30. Please note that this is the fourth Monday, not the last Monday, due to schedule conflicts. All women are welcome to attend. This month s project will be Christmas crafts for the Annual Bazaar.
