Opportunities for renewal seem to abound this time of year. This week we welcome Fr. Blaise Czaja to St. Michael for a Parish Mission. I encourage everyone in our parish to participate in one or more activities this week. Note Fr. Blaise s schedule in this week s bulletin. Today is Catechetical Sunday. The theme for Catechetical Sunday is Do This in Memory of Me. I want to thank all in our parish who are actively involved in the PREP Program. Secondly, our RCIA Program begins this Thursday. Thank to all our Presenters and Sponsors. Your involvement in these ministries is a wonderful expression of your commitment to share your Christian faith and witness to the Gospel. PREP and RCIA are two of the many ministries that receive support from the DAA. The 2011 Campaign has begun. Our Parish Goal is $40, of which $10, remains at the Chancery. Last year $45, was returned to our Parish. Fr. Fall Festival Dinner and Bake Sale Oct 16, 2011 from Noon 6pm. Serving Sneaky's Broasted Chicken--2 piece dinner, vegetable, potatoes & gravy, homemade salads and desserts. Bring your entire family and friends for a great meal, and don't forget, dessert and beverage are always included in the price. Prices are: Adult $8, Children ages 6-10 $4, Children ages 2-5 $2. Circle Leaders will be contacting our parishioners for salads and desserts as well as workers. If you do not receive a call and wish to volunteer to work, please call Carrie Fischer at The Catholic Globe is holding its 2011 subscription campaign. You should have recently received a subscription renewal notice in the mail. The cost remains at $20. The Catholic Globe is the official newspaper of the Diocese of Sioux City and is an important vehicle of communication for Bishop R. Walker Nickless. With that in mind, the bishop asks that all Catholic households receive the newspaper. Available for the first time this year is the option to pay online. Go to the Globe s website at and look for the icon marked Globe Online Payment. Thank You. This is our Parish Mission Week. We have been praying for the success of this mission for over a month, and we sincerely hope that all of you will try to attend as many of the evening presentations as possible. All of us are in need of having our faith rekindled and our hearts set ablaze with God's love as we live out our baptismal call. Monday evening we are offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation and on Tuesday morning the Sacrament of Healing. We are so blessed to have Fr. Blaise with us so please support this program with your regular attendance. You have received 2011 Diocesan Annual Appeal mailing and we ask that you once again carefully consider your contribution, pray about it and let the Lord who has given us everything we have, guide your decision. You may place the DAA envelope in the parish collection offering or make it online at the diocesan website. Congress is preparing to debate health care legislation. The Catholic bishops of the United States strongly support genuine health care reform that protects the life and dignity of all from the moment of conception until natural death. However, all current bills are seriously deficient on abortion and conscience rights. Fliers are available at the main entrance of the Church asking you to contact Senators Harkin and Grassley and Representative King urging them to fix these bills with pro-life amendments. Also check out the Bishops web site listed on the flier. Thank you. 15th Annual Bishop s Dinner for Catholic Schools Featuring acclaimed basketball analyst and commentator Dick Vitale. Dinner is October 9th at the Sioux City Convention Center. Tickets are $125 per person with all proceeds funding the 17 elementary schools and 8 high schools within the Diocese of Sioux City.
