2 St. Michael Parish News Christ, Jesus, though he was in the form of God did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave he humbled himself becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-9. Beginning today, Palm Sunday, we enter into the holiest week of the Church year. We celebrate God s work in Jesus Passion, Death, Resurrection and Sending of the Holy Spirit. We call this the Paschal Mystery. We are especially drawn to the interconnected liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. On Holy Thursday we focus on the broken bread and the shared cup of the Eucharist. In response to Jesus gift of ultimate love we are challenged to service by washing the feet of others. Thank you to 12 members of the First Communion Class who have volunteered to be apostles. We will have adoration in the chapel after Mass until 9:30 pm. On Good Friday, we embrace the cross as the symbol of our way of living. We adore you O Christ and we praise you, because by your Holy Cross, you have redeemed the world. On Holy Saturday, we bless the new fire and the new water, signs of the new life that the Risen Christ brings into the world. This leads us to Easter Sunday where we proclaim once again. Let heaven rejoice and earth be glad, let all creation sing. Let children proclaim through every land. Hosanna to our King. It only takes about an hour on Saturday mornings. St. Catherine s Circle is in charge of cleaning the church for the month of April. It s true, Catholic radio is here to allow the Holy Spirit to use the programming to help you get to heaven that s priority number one. Priority number two is to be part of the community! Since Christmas 2010, Channel 88.1FM has been a part of at least one live event each month, with more to come! We re making a commitment to broadcast Catholic events live on the radio, so stay tuned for more! Our final priority is to ask you to listen at least one hour per week. 3 Palm Sunday Easter Flowers for St. Michael Church will be supplied in part through generous donations given by parishioners in honor of living and deceased loved ones. If you wish to make such a memorial, please place your gift in the envelope found at the church entrances marked: Easter Flowers and complete the lower portion of the envelope, or complete the bottom portion of this box and place it in an envelope marked Easter Flowers. Your gift may be placed in the collection basket. All memorials will be published in the bulletin after Easter. The All America Concert Band will present a Palm Sunday Sacred Music Concert on Sunday, April 17th at 7:30pm at Eppley Auditorium. The $10 tickets will be available at the fish dinner on April 15th and after 9:00 Mass on April 10th & 17th. 100% of the admission revenue will go to our church. St. Michael Knights of Columbus 12th Annual Easter Egg Hunt Where: St. Michael Parish Center When: Saturday April 23rd at 1pm What: Games and Prizes, Activities, Snacks, Easter Egg Hunt, Visit from a Special Guest! Please contribute to our Lenten Project this year, we will be collecting non-food items for the Personal Care Cupboard. The last day for this collection is Palm Sunday. Suggestions: Toilet-paper/Kleenex, shampoo, bath soap, dish soap, band-aids, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, diapers, razors, shaving cream, tampons, pads, combs, laundry detergent (powder only), and new wash cloths.
