Camrose Pro-Life On Down Syndrome Conclusion 40 Days for Life Campaign, March 6 - April 14, 2019 The largest spring campaign of 40 Days for Life begins March 6, with 377 cities worldwide participating. Camrose Pro-Life plans to pray by the Women s Health Option ( A Avenue), Edmonton, sometime during the 40 days. Other ways to participate in the campaign are recitation of the rosary, praying a novena or a chaplet for the unborn. Copies of the special meditations of the rosary, novena and chaplet are posted on the Pro-Life Bulletin board for you. More information of the campaign will follow. 3 From the Pastoral Team s desk... Living in the Word of God Archbishop Smith issued a Pastoral Letter on Thursday, September 14th, 2017, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Entitled Living in the Word of God, the letter invites us all to renew our focus on Scripture as we answer the call of the Holy Father Pope Francis to listen to the Word of God and then to put it to practice. Living in the Word - The hearing of Christ's Word demands a silent and attentive listening. This requires effort and determination. Living in a world of noise, we must be always cultivating, with the help of God's grace, an inner stillness in which we are disposed to hear and be transformed by the Word of God. In response to Archbishop Smith s Pastoral Letter Living in the Word of God our St. Francis Xavier Parish Pastoral Council spearheaded an initiative to give a great Catholic book to our parish families as a parish Christmas gift to increase our Faith, Hope & Charity in Jesus Christ.. Signs of Life by Scott Hahn was chosen to help us to see the biblical roots of many of our Catholic beliefs, practices & rituals. We will be highlighting some common questions about the traditions of the Catholic Church and provide a response from Signs of Life and the Bible. Be sure to read the entire chapter in your book! Why do Catholics trace themselves with the Sign of the Cross? Accordingly the Sign of the Cross is a brief declaration of our faith in the three great mysteries: of our faith in the Blessed Trinity, in the passion of Christ, and in the forgiveness of sin, by which we pass from the left side of curse to the right side of blessing. The goals of the Youth Ministry will be to help our youth fall in love with Jesus, learn about our faith, and develop a sense of belonging in our church community. It will initially be offered to youth in grades 7-9. Please take the time to consider how you can contribute to this ministry and share the opportunity with anyone you think may be interested.
