2 St. Michael Parish News Then they said to each other. Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us? Luke 24:33 Angry, dismayed, disappointed. These are all words that could describe the two disciples travelling on the road to Emmaus. Jesus joins them, but they do not recognize him. They are surprised that he seems unaware of the events that resulted in Jesus death on the cross. The apparent ignorance of the stranger only adds to their frustration. Yet, they share their thoughts and reactions. They had great hopes hopes that now seemed dashed. They believed he would change their lives. Jesus listened. He empathized with them. Then, Jesus spoke and brought them to a fuller understanding of these events. Finally, in the breaking of the bread, they would identify the stranger as the risen Lord. Jesus walks with each of us. Jesus is fully aware of all facets of our lives. He is compassionate, he is understanding. In the Eucharist, he gives us support. During this Easter Season may our hearts be on fire. May we allow the Lord to open the Scriptures to us and to nourish us with his Body and Blood. TOTUS TUUS (Totally Yours), a summer catechetical youth program, is being held at Saint Michael Church July For grade school children entering (grades 1-6 Fall 2011) the program runs Monday-Friday 9:00am- 3:00pm. The day program includes catechetical instruction, daily Mass, songs, games, and the end of the week water fight! For youth entering 7 th 12 th grades (middle and high school youth), the program runs Sunday-Thursday 7:30pm- 9:40pm. All are invited to a potluck dinner on Wednesday at 6:00pm. Registration is available through the parish office. Cost is $15. Participants in the grade school program should bring a sack lunch and recess equipment to share. Questions?
