GOD S PLAN FOR GIVING Collection for the weekend of 2/7/16 was $14, May God bless you for your generosity. SPECIAL COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, and the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. One way this appeal works to support home mission dioceses in the United States is by supporting seminarian formation in poor dioceses. Your support is needed for these young men so they might go back and serve their parishes. Also, this special collection supports Catholic organizations that provide affordable shelter and training for seminarians in a region that still struggles from the effects of Soviet rule. By providing pastoral care, catechesis, and funding for building renovations, our donations help restore the Church and build the future in the region. Please give generously to the collection next week. FAIR TRADE items will be sold this weekend at all Masses. During Lent we invite you to join us as we prepare for Easter in a spiritual way. Stations of the Cross are each Friday evening during Lent at 7:00 PM in the church. This popular devotion has been around for over 500 years! It encourages us to journey with Jesus through the last hours of his earthly life meditating on each Station through readings and prayers. The St. Vincent DePaul Poor Box for January contained $1,780. 2 St. John Vianney School News School will be closed on Monday, February 15, for Presidents Day. Please return your re-registration paperwork as soon as possible, along with the registration fee. Openings are available for kindergarten classes for the school year. Students must be five years old by October 31 in order to register. Please call the school office at for more information. Pre-School News School will be closed on Monday, February 15, in observance of Presidents Day. Openings are available for our three and four year old programs for the school year. You can obtain more information by calling the school office at SJV CHEERLEADING NEWS Another great weekend for our young ladies! Biddy and JV attended the St. Mary's New Monmouth cheer competition on Saturday, February 6th. Biddy took home Best Motions while JV took home Second Place!!! Varsity attended the Brearly cheer competition on Saturday and took home Third Place!!! This weekend, our Biddy team will have a break, while our JV and Varsity teams head to Paramus Catholic!!! Good luck ladies! YOUTH MINISTRY Living Stations of the Cross practice will return this Sunday, February 14th, (Valentines Day) from 6:45pm to 9:00pm in St. Cecelia Church! Come explore your role in this amazingly powerful communal prayer experience, new participants are always welcome! Parents want to put Living Stations on your Calendar? The date is Good Friday, March 25th at St. Cecelia Church with a 7:30pm Start time. Amazing events are taking place in youth ministry! Permission slips have been ed and handed out for Diocesan Youth Day on Sunday April 3rd. Come see the Amazing Speaker Justin Fatica from "Hard as Nails" ministry. Need a preview? Check him out on YouTube. Permission slips for the Appalachia service project, (July 3-8) have also been handed out and ed. Completed and notarized Appalachia permission slips along with payments are due back at the office at the mandatory meeting for students and parents on Wednesday, March 9th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the youth ministry office. The St. John Vianney Social Justice Ministry would like to thank all of you that contributed cans of soup to the annual "Souper Bowl Food Drive" thanks to your generosity we collected 235 cans of soup which has been delivered to the St. James Food Pantry in Woodbridge.

3 Music Ministry News Adult Choir Thanks to our adult choir for enhancing the 10:45 am mass last Sunday! Our adult choir is now beginning to practice for the Lent and Holy Week!! Our next rehearsal will be on Wednesday February 17 th from 7:30 to 9:00 Pm in the church. The adult choir sings most Sundays at the 9:00 Am mass and occasionally at the 10:45 Am mass. The adult choir also sings for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, Holy Week, The Easter Vigil and several other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. New members (Including high school students) are welcome to join! Children s Choir Many thanks to all those who came out to sing for the 9:00 am mass last Sunday! The children s choir generally meets for practice on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 Pm in the church. The group sings twice a month at either the 9:00 or 10:45 Am mass! Our next practice will be on Tuesday February 23 rd from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the church. We will sing again on Sunday February 28 th at the 10:45 am mass. All children in the parish from 2nd grade and up are welcome to join!! Folk Group The SJV folk group can be found playing and singing most Sundays at the 12:15 Pm mass. Rehearsals are held on Sundays at 11:00 Am in the meeting room in the church foyer. The group is always looking for additional singers and instrumentalists. The folk group is under the direction of Ms. Jennie Esposito. Teenage Group On the fourth Sunday of each month our high school students are invited to sing and play for the 12:15 Pm mass. ALL high school students are invited to sing, play an instrument or do both! This group is also under the direction of Jennie Esposito. In this 3 night parish mission join with other parishioners as we listen to this year's vibrant speaker Jon Lionetti as we uncover how to live God's purpose for our lives through prayer, the sacraments, family life, and the help of Mary and the saints. SUNDAY EVENING: WHO IS GOD AND WHY LOVE HIM? In order to love God we have to first know God. Jon will help us see how God wants to break into our lives, and how it will change us completely if we let him do it. MONDAY EVENING: GOD'S DREAM FOR YOUR LIFE God's dream is to make you a saint. On this second evening, Jon shares both powerful and humorous stories of Catholic men and women who revolutionized their generation, living and sharing the extraordinary love and mercy of God in the most ordinary of ways. TUESDAY EVENING: LIVING GOD'S DREAM How are we equipped for the mission Christ has given us? We have to get back to the basics. Jon shares 3 practical and effective ways we as Catholics can strengthen our resolve to live the life God always meant for us to live, and bring others with us along the way BISHOP S ANNUAL APPEAL GRACE, MERCY & PEACE Next weekend, our parish will be conducting an In-Pew campaign for the 2015 Bishop s Annual Appeal. If you have yet to contribute to the appeal, please take this opportunity to prayerfully consider a gift. If you have already given, please know how much your gift is appreciated.

4 PRO LIFE The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:00 PM in the meeting room off the church foyer. Maternity donations can be dropped in the crib in the foyer of the church. Both new (especially diapers size 3 to 6) and gently used items are accepted.. Please continue to remember the children and families who are helped with your donations. If you have larger items, please call Carolyn at to arrange for pickup. Thank you for your continued generosity.
