A copy of the birth certificate and attendance at Baptism Preparation class are required. Baptism is celebrated several Sundays a the year at 11:00 AM. Reconciliation/Confession Saturdays after 4:00 pm Mass, by request after weekday Mass, and other times that are mutually convenient for you and Fr. Chris. Marriage Couples wishing to marry must contact Fr. Chris at least six months prior to the date they desire. Log on to for info. Anointing of the Sick Anyone seriously ill may ask for this Sacrament of Healing. You may also request prayers and visits to homebound/ill parishioners. 2 ST. MARY STAR OF THE SEA BROOKLYN Please pray for vocations to the priesthood we need them now more than ever! Please also remember you ALL have a vocation! You are invited to our annual Parish Thanksgiving Day Mass Thursday, November 22nd at 9:00 am. I believe that our joining together in prayer and celebration is the BEST way possible to state this wonderful holiday! Please come join your Parish family to thank God for our many blessings. If you wish, you may bring an item of food that you will use for your Thanksgiving meal and it will be blessed at Mass. All are welcome...bring a friend! This year we are helping some of our brothers and sisters most in need of Christmas happiness right here in our own neighborhood! We invite and encourage all our Parish family to help the infants, Moms, and men and women ministered to by the Chips organization, located on 4th Avenue. We will have more information in up coming bulletins. I hope all will eagerly help bring the powerful light of Christ and Christmas to some of those most in need in our neighborhood! YOU WILL MAKE THEM ALL VERY HAPPY THIS CHRISTMAS! As you read in the letter from the Bishop that I distributed last weekend, we will have a special 2nd collection after Holy Communion today to assist our brothers & sisters struggling with the aftermath of Hurricanes Florence and Michael. So many in the southeastern part of the US need our help. Thank you! Our Organist/ Cantor, Ms. Deirdre Donovan, would love to have a Choir to sing at 2 special events Our 4th Annual Family Christmas Sing-Along & Children s Nativity on Sunday, Dec. 16th at 2 pm AND Our 167th Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. I wish to offer a very special thank you to our good friend, Mr. Charles Roussim, for installing our new banner outside Church. The process took a great amount of time and effort on Charles part and I am deeply grateful! I also wish to thank Doris Palenque for helping Charles do all the work. THIRTY FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME GOD S LAWS God s laws are not intended to burden or torment us. Instead they are guideposts that point us in the direction of good living. Accordingly, good living requires loving God and loving one another. We should not follow God s laws out of fear of what might happen if we don t, but rather view them as a foundation for building relationships and trust with one another and with God. The Shema prayer of Orthodox Jews is based on the reading from Deuteronomy, Hear, O Israel. Every morning people recite the prayer as a profession of their love for God and pledge their obedience to God throughout the day. They pass on their love of God to their children, from one generation to the next. 5 NOVEMBER 4TH, 2018 Non-Catholics are invited to join us in prayer. We kindly remind them not to come forward to receive Holy Communion. Catholics who are new to our Parish are asked to please introduce themselves to Fr. Chris after Mass. Registration may be done at the rectory during office hours or by dropping the parish membership form in the collection basket. Active parishioners are those who are registered, join us regularly for the celebration of the Mass and use the weekly donation envelopes. Only in this way can we issue documents attesting to Parish Membership and Catholic practice.
