SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT de PAUL The Thanksgiving Vigil Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday November 25 th an opportunity to give thanks to God for all our blessings and to share our gifts with those in need. Traditionally, since 1959, the collection has been taken up by the Society to provide food for the poor in our parish community. The Society is grateful to Msgr. O Neill, our pastor, for his generosity in continuing this tradition. The offerings for the Vigil and Thanksgiving Day will be donated to SVDP. Non perishable food will also be accepted at the Mass. Frozen turkeys and canned hams may be dropped off at the rectory for Thanksgiving holiday distribution. Thank you to all who continue to support the Society. ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY The gift counter now has Christmas items available. Advent wreaths, candles, children s books, and Christmas wafers (Oplatki) which are also available at the Rectory. If you know a family or individual who may benefit from the Giving Tree, now is the time to contact the rectory with their information. All students must wear their regular school uniforms (no gym uniforms or sneakers). Also, if your child was absent when pictures were taken in October, they can have their individual picture taken. You must send in the envelope with payment. Re-takes will be done in January. We will begin our Thanksgiving celebration with a Prayer Service on Wednesday, November 25, at 10 AM. Dismissal will be at 11:30 AM. No aftercare will be provided on this day. Please be prompt when picking up your child. School will be closed on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27. We wish all of our families a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving! Please be sure we have all your correct contact information. Pre-School News The Pre-K Thanksgiving Feast will take place on Tuesday, November 24. All students are invited to join us on this day. On Wednesday, November 25, we will follow our half day schedule. Morning students will be dismissed at 10 AM. Full day students will be dismissed at 12 noon. There will be no aftercare provided. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our students and their families! The Home School Association is sponsoring a Christmas Bazaar on Thursday, December 3, in the Parish Center. Students will be able to shop during the school day, and from 3-8 PM it will be open to the public. There will be many vendors and lots of items that would make great Christmas gifts!

3 MUSIC MINISTRY NEWS Adult Choir Thanks to ALL the members of our adult choir who sang at the 10:45 am mass last Sunday! Our group is now practicing for our parish Advent/Christmas concert, which will be held on Sunday December 13 th in the church. We meet each Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 Pm in the church. The adult choir sings most Sundays at the 9:00 Am mass and occasionally at the 10:45 Am mass. The adult choir also sings for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, Holy Week, The Easter Vigil and several other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Our next rehearsal will be on Wednesday December 2 nd at 7:30 P m in the church. New members (Including high school students) are welcome to join! Children s Choir Many thanks to ALL the children who came out to sing for the 9:00 am mass and altar server installation last Sunday The children s choir generally meets for practice on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 Pm in the church. The group sings twice a month at either the 9:00 or 10:45 Am mass! Our next practice will be on Tuesday December 1 st from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the church. We will sing again for the Christmas tree lighting at the Evergreen Center on Thursday December 3 rd, following the tree lighting all are invited into the evergreen center for pictures with Santa Claus as well as crafts and refreshments! We will also sing for the basketball and cheerleading mass on Sunday December 6 th at 9:00 am mass. All children in the parish from 2nd grade and up are welcome to join!! St. John Vianney s Boy Scout Troop #523 will be holding their annual spaghetti dinner on Saturday, December 5th, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the SJV cafeteria. The menu consists of Spaghetti with a choice of plain or meat sauce, salad, bread and butter, coffee, tea and juice, and of course desserts. Ticket prices: Adults: $8.00, Seniors: $5.00, Children under 10: $5.00 Boy, Girl and Cub scouts in uniform are admitted free. Interested in joining one of our musical groups? 4 YOUTH MINISTRY I would like to ask for your prayers for the 23,000 catholic youth ministry teens travelling home to all 50 States from the National Catholic Youth Conference today. For this reason there will be no meeting, (as scheduled) on Sunday November 22nd. Please note there is an error in the schedule. We will not be meeting on Sunday, Nov. 29th. As a general rule holiday weekends are family time, and we do not disrupt family time. Our next meeting is Sunday December 6th, and the Christmas retreat weekend is on December 11th to the 13th. In new news, we are seeking volunteers for Saturday, December 19th to serve and clean up the reception for the installation of Fr. Thomas as pastor, (Yea!) Please join me in attending the 4:30pm Mass at St. Cecelia's on Saturday night, and hang out for some service fun! I can't wait to see you again!
