Children s worship bags and age-appropriate worship activity bulletins are available in the foyer. Restrooms are located down the main hall turning to the left. A baby changing table is available in the handicap accessible restroom. Name tags can be found on the clipboards in the pews. Assisted listening devices, large print hymnals and large-print bulletins are available. Ask an usher for assistance. A nursery is offered as an option for our children newborn through age four (located downstairs). Children s bulletins are available for kids ages 3-12 in the narthex. The flowers on the altar are given by Ed and Nan Blackwell praising God for Eddie s 20th birthday and in memory of Tom Rennie s birthday. The flowers in the narthex are given to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for the gift of their daughter Rachael on her birthday this past September 26. Happy 17th Birthday! Also, many blessings and good wishes for a great senior year! We love you very much. Mom and Dad The rosebud on the altar is in honor of Gabriel Watson Wilms, who was born on September 26, 2012, and is the son of Christopher and Isca Wilms. Sarah is his big sister. ANNOUNCEMENTS This Sunday concludes our services on Family during the month of September. The pictures shown during the service capture some of the families in our church. We are thankful for you all! Our guest speaker today, Ms. Angie Williams, is the Volunteer Coordinator at United Methodist Family Services. Angie worked with the Virginia Conference for over 7 years as Director of Ministries with Young People and has almost 17 years experience in youth and young adult ministries in the United Methodist Church. Angie has a B.A. from The College of William and Mary and Certification in Youth Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary. Angie also holds a Certificate in Youth and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. She is currently working on her Certification in Volunteer Administration! Angie is married to her high school sweetheart, Jeff, and they are the proud adoptive parents of two beautiful daughters (Sharon, age 19 adopted through UMFS, and Leona, age 8). In her free time, you can find Angie spending quality time with family and friends and enjoying the great outdoors (skiing, hiking, swimming, kayaking, even sky diving!). Angie is highly competitive and loves the opportunity to play ANY type of games. Angie s greatest passion is children and youth! This week s Wednesday Night Dinner will be our Community Dinner. The menu includes corned beef brisket, fried cabbage, boiled potatoes, cornbread, and dessert. Cost is $5.00 for adults, and $3.00 for children 10 and under. Who will you invite? Our guests eat free. 5 On Wednesday night the drop-in class for adults is Andy Griffith and Christian truths. Flu shots are today, 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the Social Hall. Bring your Medicare card or copayment (credit cards are not accepted). Cost is $ No sign-up required. The flu shots are set up through Instructive Visiting Nurse Association (IVNA), a charitable not-for-profit organization in our community. The proceeds from our flu shots help support skilled home health care, rehab therapy and other medical services to uninsured patients who have no other access to care. Interested in singing in the Christmas Cantata? Join the Chancel Choir Rehearsals starting October 10th from 7:30-8:15 p.m. Any questions contact Margaret at m.e.taylor003@gmail.com. Did you know that children in our community are hungry this weekend? There are more than forty students at A. M. Davis Elementary School who need meals on the weekends. For $12.00 a week or $360 for the remainder of the school year, you can provide food for these students to feed them until they return to school each Monday. If you would like to pay by check, please write the check payable to the church, with A. M. Davis on the memo line. The group of Sanctuary Organizers is beginning its third year this month. We are in need of three people to help straighten up the hymnals and pew rack each week. You do it for a month at a time, any day from Wednesday to Friday. It takes about an hour a week. If you think you may be interested or like more information, you may call me at home or me. If you come to the Wednesday Night Suppers, you might see me there.
