Worship Service Second Sunday in Lent February 21, 2016 Singin the Spirituals As we journey through the season of Lent, we enter a time of self-examination and repentance, a time of preparation for the transforming power of Easter. Our Scripture readings today remind us of the enduring faithfulness of God. If only our faith were strong enough to trust God every moment! Through the Scriptures, we discover that God stays with us even in our doubt. Be inspired by these striking images of comfort: the Lord protects me (Psalm 27); Jesus seeks to gather us under his wings (Luke 13). Through the coming of Jesus Christ, we know firsthand the power of God s kept promises! 4 United Methodist Women will be collecting paper products for the Alliance Domestic Violence Center for the month of February. This includes toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels. There will be a box in the lounge during the month of February. UWM Soup: We have extra vegetable or vegetable beef soup leftover. Please let Pat Helsel or Dolores in the church office if you would like to buy some of the soup. The May Smyth circle meeting was cancelled due bad weather last Tuesday. They will be meeting this Tuesday, Feb., 23 rd at Ellen Sol s. A Big Thank You to the Staff Parish Relations Committee for the wonderful luncheon, the certificate and gift. We would also like to thank everyone who gave us Valentines last Sunday. Thank you the Staff The March-April issue of The Upper Room are now available. Cost is $1.00 each.
