Making disciples is our mission. This is how we think God is transforming the world. But do we all know what it means? When I have asked this question of congregations, there would be many different understandings: Christian Education, mission, following Christ s teaching. The list goes on and on. The truth is, all of these are correct. The problem is, they are only parts of a life of discipleship. To me, discipleship is a life lived in devotion, relationship, service, and education. Discipleship is a journey. It is not a program, a service, a project, or something we can just do. It is a way of life, culture, and purpose. So, are we disciples? Are we making disciples? From time to time I will try to give you resources for this journey. I hope the following books will begin, continue, or rekindle the passion to transform the world by making disciples. "But I really, really, like what Jesus said and did." This is not what Jesus wanted. His goal was to not make a band of fans. He wanted to see lives changed, hearts transformed, and the good news to be told. Are we fans or followers? This is a challenging read that cuts to the core of our intentions and heart. Be warned!!! This will change your perception of what it means to be a follower of Christ. One of the most frequent questions from church members is, how do I pray? This is almost like someone asking, How do I have a conversation? Prayer is fruit of a relationship with God, and fosters a deeper relationship with God. Also, there is great power in prayer. The Power of a Praying Parent is one I have recommended to many people. If you want to establish or reestablish a commitment to prayer. This is a great guide. Retired Pastors Rev. Johnny Dinas, Rev. Not only does it remind me of the importance of spiritual disciplines, it has been a great guide and re-centering tool for my spiritual growth and formation. Foster gives great attention to detail as he calls us into intentional rhythms of discipleship and spiritual growth. I hope that some or all of these books will be a glimpse of my heart, passion, and journey. I pray that you will engage the words in these books and grow as disciples and followers of Christ. In fact, that is what we are called to as Christians, to strive for holiness.

Items needed are cloth diapers, receiving blankets, bottles, regular size bath cloths, bars of ivory soap, small bib, teething toy. These items will be packed into gallon ziplock bags and shipped to Honduras in November and given out by our short term missionaries in Feb We ll announce a date in October for assembling the kits. The United Methodist Women invite you to join one of their circles. Each circle offers the opportunity for spiritual growth through study, participation in missions, and Christian fellowship. We will have 7 sessions in the fall and 7 sessions in the winter. We will begin on Sept. 10th. Cost for the study is $20.00 and comes with a workbook. Please prayerfully consider giving to this fund. The money collected is well spent helping people in need in our local community. Soup Kitchen Donations continue to be needed for the Soup Kitchen.
