Mattie Gipson Glad Tidings Potter s Wheel February by Rev. Tom "I know that God won't give me more than I can handle..." I've heard a lot of folks say that over the years. Folks who were in pain, in grief, in confusion, in failure. Each of them had the same thing in common: They Were Wrong. Every single one of them. While it's true that God knows each person's individual breaking point, there is no scripture which assures us we won't be pushed beyond that point. You see, God routinely gives us more than we can handle. It happens all the time. Why? So we will lean completely on God! Because there are a multitude of events, horrors, and tragedies which can beset us which are beyond our ability to cope with. But at the same time, there is nothing, Dear Reader, that is going to happen to any of us that GOD cannot handle. Here lies the beauty of a life in Jesus Christ. To be a faithful Christian is to hear God say, "I'm God. You're not. Allow me to worry about the course of history and the events of the cosmos. You just remain faithful and it'll all be okay. Okay?" Talk about taking the pressure off! So what? What if you and I, Friends, decide today to quit telling God His business, and just hunkered down, remaining faithful no matter what? Further, what if we just owned up to the fact that there is indeed MUCH that we cannot handle...unless we rely fully on the God of the Cosmos? Try it. Find joy in every day of life. I dare ya. In Joy, Tom
