This month s appeal by the SSVM Missions (Servants of the Lord) for their efforts in Papua, New Guinea was very successful. On behalf of the sisters, thank you for your outstanding generosity. REFERENE LIBRARY IN TE WEEKDAY APEL We have set up a lending library in the back end of the chapel. You will find Bible study tools, Lives of the Saints, meditation materials, a hurch Directory and some liturgical catalogues. We have an extensive library in the office meeting room, but no one visits. Perhaps if it s more convenient, more people will take advantage of it.

That any far-reaching decisions of economists and politicians protect the family as one of the treasures of humanity. Servers Lectors Eucharistic Ministers Greeters TOUGT FOR TE WEEK Those who walked away In the past few weeks, the gospel has shown us how things went downhill for Jesus. e sent his disciples out to minister in is name. They brought back thousands of curious, potential followers, whom Jesus teaches, feeds, heals and to whom he even promises eternal life. But when e starts explaining that the Eucharist, consuming his flesh and blood, is the key to this eternal life, they walk away. In no time, his audience goes from 8-10 thousand to about (his disciples and the holy women). People were not going to eat his flesh and drink his blood no matter what the prize. Do you think that Jesus understood their reluctance and let them into heaven anyways? You ve got to wonder where they are now. And, of course, this brings us to wonder about the fate of our friends and relatives who have likewise walked away from the Eucharist. You know, those who, because of scandal, misunderstanding, laziness or ignorance have found other places to go and things to do on weekends. They don t seem worried. Perhaps they think this warning was only addressed to those who opposed Jesus and refused to accept him. They are probably confident that since they haven t rejected him outright and they are leading a pretty decent life, they should end up in heaven. After all, Jesus came to save, not to condemn; it stands to reason that most people will make it to heaven. Just try to be an above-average hristian and you should be fine! Trouble is, this theory has no basis in Scripture; in fact, the Lord s words say just the opposite! I d hate to see people I care about show up at the pearly gates and be told that because they walked away from Jesus (and his Precious Sacrament), they have got to keep on walking. We are seeking cash contributions to cover the prize money ($2,050). We are accepting donations from organizations or individuals (minimum of $25). If you are new to the program, watch the bulletin for more information or call the office at Don t forget that the D classes have been moved to the Boutin enter in Tilton. By the way, remember that a lot has changed: First Eucharist and onfirmation will be celebrated in Grade Three, and, this year, onfirmation will also be conferred in Grades Eight, Nine and Ten. Make sure your students attend regularly. The D Program is in need of a teacher and aide for 2nd and 4th grades. Please call the office if you are interested in helping out ( ).
