Amen. We would like to sincerely thank Phyllis Shoemaker for providing us with the breads that are distributed at the Thanksgiving Day Mass. She has provided 150 loaves of home made bread every year to those who attend that mass. She does the same for other churches in the area. Please pray for her son Joshua, who passed away last Summer. Our St. Gabriel Parish Family hristmas Tree The parish hristmas Tree will be going up next weekend! This year we would like to try something new we are inviting families to make their own ornaments or purchase an ornament for your family to put on the tree. You are welcome to pick up the ornament after the season. Be creative: make it something that represents your family. There is no limit to the number of ornaments you add to the tree we have noticed each child likes to put his own up! Or you can use the ornament we prepared for you last year: there are plenty of angels available. At St. Paul you will find the angels on the table at the front of the church by the gate, at St. Mary near the St. Joseph shrine.

I ve seen bumper stickers out there disclaiming the current administration. Nothing new: this happens all the time, no matter who s in the White ouse. As we learned in civics class, when you vote, you share in the credit/blame for the shape of our government. If you re not happy, you don t want to share the blame! ence: the bumper sticker. That s how democracy works. Fortunately, we ve never had to deal with an absolute monarch, emperor or dictator. It is understandable that the feast of hrist the King seems a bit strange, hard to relate to. Maybe we should call him President Jesus instead of hrist the King? Like it or not, Us cradle atholics were born into his kingdom, without any kind of commitment or decision on our part. We were baptized, made our first confession, First oly ommunion and even onfirmation according to a prescribed schedule, at the proper times. We were taught to obey a set of rules and to live a certain way. But, unless you had a faith crisis, a personal conversion or joined the hurch as an adult, you never voted for Jesus, never made a decision to accept im as your Lord and Savior. People in Jesus day had no vote: their king either inherited the throne from his father or was installed by the latest conqueror. Like it or not, he was in charge. And his religion, his god(s) would be their religion, their god(s). Jesus came as a different kind of king and a different kind of God. As a king, e meets their needs without taxing them, rules through example rather than decree and prefers to pardon rather than punish. But the biggest difference is that e rules by the will of is subjects: e gives them the option of choosing him, or finding someone or something else. And as God, e allows them not only to choose to serve im, but also to decide how much they will allow im to impact their lives. And they can change their minds repeatedly. Each time we choose hrist, we re voting for im. And each time we do, we re claiming a share of credit for all the good e does through us! Isn t democracy grand? Instead, you can donate to our Outreach Program. You can donate annaford / Market Basket / Walmart cards through the parish office. On Saturday (Nov 24) the lights are on from 5 PM until 9:00 PM and Sunday (Nov. 25) is hildren s Day from 3 PM until 5 PM. There will be Santa, the hristmas Story Pageant, ornament making, film, refreshments, and gifts. The lights will be on from 5PM until 9 PM. Then starting Friday, November 30 thru December 31st lights will be on from 5 PM to 9 PM nightly. If you are interested please contact Mark Lemire at Quantities are limited so don t wait too long. WINTER AT ST. GABRIEL S Snow ancellation: we don t cancel Mass because of snow. As long as there is one person in church besides the priest, we can have Mass. The rectory is just a few feet from the church (in Franklin). Tilton is just 3 miles away. Parking: We will clean our lots as soon as possible after a storm. Please be careful on the walkways and driveways. andicap Access: There are a half dozen handicap spaces at each hurch. Please leave them for those who need them and please park so that you don t take up more than one space. Use the ramp to enter the church: it s the first thing we salt & sand! Entrances: most of our entrances are cement or granite. Both surfaces are slippery and hard to keep safe. Watch your step! If you find icy spots, tell someone or spread sand or salt. There is a bucket inside every doorway. A lot of effort is made to keep the floors in the churches clean. Please make an effort to use the rugs at all the entrances to stomp and wipe your feet.
