Her family and all things Norway were the gi s she shared with those she loved. To her family of nieces and nephews she was Aunt Eva, our special friend, confidant and life coach. She never missed an opportunity to spoil us, support us, cry and laugh with us and hold us when no one else could understand our pain and joy. To her many friends in Moscow and around the globe she was the faithful ambassador of a helping hand and forever hope. Her gi to all who were lucky to know her was her unending loyalty. We will miss Eva. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Reilly and brothers Don and Rudy and a nephew David. She was an ac ve member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Moscow. 6 The Lord be with you! In early March, late April, then a third me in June, we told you about one goal of your Stewardship Commi ee: to help every member with their personal stewardship journey. As part of our work, Stewardship has been trying to be er understand the demographics of our congrega on and the City of Moscow. In our efforts, we have noted that our church membership records need some upda ng. We only have the most basic of informa on for only about half of our membership. We are asking everyone, no ma er how long you have been a member, to please update their demographic, and Chris an, records. By doing so, we feel that we will be be er able to provide more directed, and relevant, informa on to specific groups within our congrega on. For example, the concerns and needs of young parents with college loans is quite different than recently re red professionals, or an older adult on a fixed income. Accurate informa on also assists Pastor in visita ons and member support. We ask that you please update your membership informa on. A BIG thank you those who have already responded! We have had Member Informa on Forms returned from 98 out of 231 families from previous mailings. If you have yet to respond, we look forward to hearing from you! We recently mailed out a third request. If you have misplaced it, you may pick up a form here at church or download it off our website (a PDF version is available at h p:// s and giving/membership data form.html). You have some op ons to return your completed form: 1. If you fill in a hard copy of the form by hand, please: return it by mail or in person to the Emmanuel Church Office, or place it in the offering plate. 2. If you fill in the PDF online, you may: save the file and it to the Church Office (emmanuelmoscowid@gmail.com) with "Membership Update" in the subject line, or print the completed form and return it to the Church Office by mail or in person, or place it in the offering plate. Your records are kept confiden ally using so ware designed specifically for churches. Thank you for your assistance. Stewardship Commi ee Kas Dumroese, Jon Kimberling, Ben McLuen, Bob Ri er

9 What would like to do? Here s an idea! Make a positive impact on the Sunday experience of all who enter here! Definitely not a difficult job but what an important one! Here is what the ELCA describes about Holy Communion: In the Sacrament of Holy Communion, after hearing and experiencing the good news of Jesus Christ in word, prayer and song, the community receives bread and wine. They experience the tangible presence of Christ by eating and drinking these elements. The outward signs of the sacrament are simple earthly elements: bread and wine. Yet, together with the spoken promise of God these elements convey the presence of Jesus Christ to the assembly of believers. Martin Luther said that Jesus is present in, with, and under the bread and wine. We believe this because Jesus says it is so (Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 22:19-20) even when we cannot fully explain how it happens. The presence of Jesus Christ in the sacrament of Holy Communion is a great treasure that is received in faith. In the eating and drinking of bread and wine, we experience love, forgiveness and life of Christ is ours. In the sacrament, Christ takes on our sin while we take on Christ s righteousness. The sacrament s emphasis is on God s action rather than the strength of our faith. Help make a significant difference during Sunday morning worship!
