6 All Saints Day Thank You: As you may know, my dad passed away on due to complica ons between Parkinson s, Demen a, and Diabetes. It was a long year. My dad and I were very close. I loved him very much. He died quietly; family was there. Pastor did a Commenda on of the Dying, where we all had a piece to say. We love you Dad. We will miss you terribly, but we give you permission to return to our Lord and Savior Jesus. Last Sunday, we sang a hymn by David Hass tled: You Are Mine I will come to you in the silence, I will li you from all your fear. You will hear my voice, I claim as my choice. Be s ll and know I am here. I played and sang this hymn to my dad many mes in the past year. We all have hymns that were our loved ones favorite. For me, singing You Are Mine will always be etched in my mind as a my Dads. My mom is doing as well as expected. I will spend 3 4 days with her prior to All Saints Day. We will sing You Are Mine. Our devo ons will be thanking God for the Saint in Light, my dad, Ma hew. I would like this congrega on to know that your cards gi s thoughts prayers hugs words have been incredibly wonderful. They are a treasure to me and Pastor. 11 What would Here s an idea! Make a posi ve impact on the Sunday experience of all who enter here! like to do? Definitely not a difficult job but what an important one! Here is what the ELCA describes about Holy Communion: In the Sacrament of Holy Communion, a er hearing and experiencing the good news of Jesus Christ in word, prayer and song, the community receives bread and wine. They experience the tangible presence of Christ by ea ng and drinking these elements. The outward signs of the sacrament are simple earthly elements: bread and wine. Yet, together with the spoken promise of God these elements convey the presence of Jesus Christ to the assembly of believers. Mar n Luther said that Jesus is present in, with, and under the bread and wine. We believe this because Jesus says it is so (Ma hew 26:26 28, Mark 14:22 24, Luke 22:19 20) even when we cannot fully explain how it happens. The presence of Jesus Christ in the sacrament of Holy Communion is a great treasure that is received in faith. In the ea ng and drinking of bread and wine, we experience love, forgiveness and life of Christ is ours. In the sacrament, Christ takes on our sin while we take on Christ s righteousness. The sacrament s emphasis is on God s ac on rather than the strength of our faith. Help make a significant difference during Sunday morning worship!
