Our Fabulous Fellowship Facility! We have such a wonderful area (our Fellowship Hall) for learning, playing, living, and loving our Lord! But alas, with everything comes guidelines (rules). Please refresh your memory on the guidelines for use of our fabulous fellowship facility: Here is the Regular Set-Up for the Fellowship Hall tables. Please use the Fellowship Hall as it is available, and feel free to move things around as needed. When you are finished, before you leave the building, please return tables back to this posted configuration. (You will find this diagram posted on every wall in the Hall. Table placement is not exact, but please try and be as close as possible to the diagram.) If you find that this table set-up is not working for any reason, or you have ideas you wish to have taken into consideration, please contact CindyMarie in the Church Office. She will communicate your suggestions and concerns to the appropriate people. Thank you!

2 Sunday s Scripture Segments Scripture readings for this Sunday, January 10, 2016, Baptism of Our Lord, are: Isaiah 43:1-7 Near the end of Israel s exile in Babylon, God promises to bring them home. They need no longer be afraid, because the one who formed, created, and called them by name now redeems them from all their enemies. God declares them precious and honored, and God loves them. By next Thanksgiving, 2016, we will have read through most of Luke s Gospel at Sunday morning worship. Join us for this compelling overview of Luke s Gospel. It will most definitely bring clarity to behind the scenes information and messages Luke writes into his Gospel. Beautifully written with many sub-themes; join us in Biblical Discovery Pastor Daugs Acts 8:14-17 Peter and John are sent to support the new Christians in Samaria, a group that was recently baptized after hearing the good news of Christ through the preaching of Philip. Here the Samaritans receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in the laying on of hands. Luke 3:15-17, The reading opens with questions about the identity of the Messiah. John the Baptist insists that he is not the Messiah; instead he points ahead to one who is coming. And whether the voice of God was heard by all or only by Jesus, God settles the matter: Jesus is God s beloved Son. Sermon Title: The Most Powerful Event in Your Life Pastor Dave Daugs J.A.M. for children through age 12. Following the Children s Sermon, J.A.M. leaders will escort the kiddos down to the Fellowship Hall for crafts, games, songs, and a snack. Children will return to the Sanctuary just prior to Holy Communion. Prayer Pieces Book Study Sunday mornings at 8:30 in The Gallery. We will be reading several of the stories from The Book of God by Walter Wangerin, Jr. during Advent and into the New Year. This is the Bible as you have never read it before - told with passion and depth. We are beginning with the story of Mary. Please come join us whether you "knit or not." 6 The Hope Center is Hiring Part time lead evening cashier position. Opening available ASAP. We have traditionally hired college students as evening cashiers here at the HOPE Center, and college students have a way of moving on, so we are back to the place of looking for a responsible and reliable person who is willing to work evenings and weekends. College age or older. The position could be for 25 hours, or could be split between two people for less hours. A full position description can be seen downstairs on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. 9 Serving NEXT Sunday January 17, 2016 What would like to do? Here s an idea! Make a positive impact on the Sunday experience of all who enter here! Usually this servant opportunity is reserved for our younger members. There is a special significance to what the acolyte does. First, an acolyte lights the candles. This signifies that the Holy Spirit is in the place of worship. By lighting the candles, you show those who worship that God is present in this house. When you extinguish the candles at the end of the service, you are signifying that the Holy Spirit is leaving the place of worship in everyone s hearts. Lighting and extinguishing the candles generally indicates the start and the end of a worship service. Acolytes dress in robes, quietly carry torches, crosses, thuribles, alms basins and cruets. A vital part of worship, they blend into the background helping our liturgies flow smoothly, and rejoicing in the privilege to serve at God s altar. If you are interested in serving as an Acolyte, or you have children that you feel might wish to serve in this role, please speak with Pastor Daugs or Youth Director, Lisa Allen. J.A.M is in need of some donations of items like: Gummy Treats - Crackers - Cookies - Fruit Leather - or similar goodies, (nothing with nuts please) for our J.A.M. - Jesus And Me!
