Pius the X # Anchorage- No State Court in Alaska Current Events April 13, 7pm, Monthly Meeting, Holy Rosary Academy. Our annual baby shower will take place. See list needed. Donations will be going to the Crisis Pregnancy Center. We will have a speaker. We will be having a snack luck at the meeting... just light snacking food... dessert will be provided LOOKING AHEAD: Installation of officers and new members 05/07/2016 at St Pat s, at11 am, follow with meeting and potluck.. See list. Hello Anchorage CDA! I hope that the early spring weather we have experienced in Montana has reached far north to Alaska. As of this writing Easter is two weeks away and Lent has moved quickly this year. May it have been a time of renewal and reflection on your gifts and willingness to serve our brethren in need. Spring brings new growth and your nominating committee will have contacted members requesting your service as a new or continuing court officer. I am fond of saying we are an organization that Recycles. But we also train our members to be leaders and each of you have gifts to share. Please say Yes if called to be a court officer. The National Board just met in Pittsburgh to view the facility for our July convention, plan activities and workshops. We are offering luncheon meetings with representatives from our National Projects and Charities. I look forward to seeing delegates from Alaska at convention. Membership is growing and we continue to seek opportunities to expand into Fairbanks and renew interest in Juneau. Please continue to BOGO! by inviting women to join your Court and pass on names of women who live elsewhere in your state. You have worked hard this year providing service to your Bishop, your brother Knights of Columbus and your parishes. The report from Regent Mary Rapp about the stove purchased for Camp St. Therese was included in my National Report on your state. We are proud of your efforts to serve God s people. May they be healed, spiritual as well as physical. PROLIFE As we prepare to bring gifts for our Baby Shower, let us remember 2 things from the Bible. The King will answer them. I assure you, as often as you did it for the least of my brothers. You did it for me. Matthew 25:40. Let us not grow weary of shall doing good: if we do not relax our efforts, in due time we shall reap our harvest. Galatians 6: 9. Pro-life issues are not just Catholic or American they are world wide. Please remember to pray for all prolifers who are out there on the front lines. 3 Catholic Daughters of the AmericasCourt St. Pius X #1866 Court Meeting March 9, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 7:08. Opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was said. New members sworn in: Maria Vandenbos. Roll Call - Mary Rapp, Regent Present Sandie Yonker, Vice Regent Absent Danna Hoellering, Recording Secretary Present Cecilia Vance, Financial Secretary Present Denice Yonker, Treasurer Present Minutes Minutes were distributed with the February newsletter. A motioned was made by Edna Resari and seconded to accept the minutes. The motion passed. Correspondence CDA was the ministry of the month for March for St. Benedict s Parish, bulletin is available for viewing. Kerry Whitney recognized in the Catholic Anchor as heading the local chapter of National Council of Catholic Women here in Alaska and CDA was mentioned. CDA National also belongs to this organization. Treasurers Report Report read and will be placed on file. Mary had a bill for food purchase. Financial Secretary s Report Report was read and will be placed on file. Committee Reports Scholarship two winners from 13 applications and another was very close. Asked if they could have additional funding to sponsor a third. Pat Redmond motioned that if it was in our ability to do and not break our budget that we do this. Seconded. Confirmed that we could do so without breaking the budget. Passed. Legislative Report Ann Curro sent in a report. 40 days ends with Easter Week thank you to those that participated. Good Friday is the KoC day of the Unborn. Rosaries for Babies is coming in May. Voting day is approaching in May don t forget to vote prolife. Assembly seats are where politicians begin their careers. Raffle Working on donations, we have only received 4 so far. Tickets for this will be available in April. National News National Quarterly received. Contained financial review paperwork that is due in April, next meeting we will need to form the audit committee, other information available on national website. We have been asked to send a donation to assist with purchasing a present for the outgoing National Regent. Joan Alles motioned that we send in $50.00 to assist. Seconded and passed. Old Business Reception for Eleanor Spernak had food left over that MaryAnn took to Clare House. The family did give us a donation for our assistance. New Business Heidi from CPC will come in at our next meeting and give a report on what has been happening there. For the baby shower next meeting please look to the newsletter for a list of needed items. Always in need are the basics diapers, wipes, etc. May 14 th we may be asked to assist with the Archdiocese picnic and CSS 50 th celebration. This will be only for assistance with help not donations of food. Helen Vic gave us a heads up on this. Discussion followed about how many functions we can help with in a year. Discussion tabled to be further discussed at next meeting. Nominating committee was formed. Terri Peterson, Debbie Vea, and Edna Resari volunteered and will do this for us this year. Thank you ladies! Election is next meeting. Next Board Meeting March 29, :00 pm at Mary Rapp s home. Officers and Past Regents are invited to attend. Next Court Meeting Wednesday April 13, :00 pm at Holy Rosary Academy. The closing prayer was said and the meeting adjourned at 8:30. Refreshments followed the meeting. If you know a person or business that might be interested in donating please let me know or you can also send a letter yourself! Consider making a personal donation of an item, gift card, or service. Raffle tickets will be sent out in April??. All monies collected will be donated to charities most of which are in Alaska. Raffle will be June 8th. Thank you for your participation.
