2 In looking back over the past few weeks, I realized there s been quite a few events that I haven t written about in the whirlwind of busy parish life... So, let s catch up! A quick (but nonetheless sincere) Word of Thanks to the following: To Diane Nappi and all her angels who planned, coordinated, and made possible our parish s Annual Cancer Mass at the beginning of October. This yearly opportunity for prayer, support, and camaraderie means so much to so many... bless you for continuing the tradition! To Brother Richard Contino and Brother Joe for leading our Annual Transitus Service to commemorate the life and inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi... thank you for continuing the long and blessed relationship our parish has always had with the brothers from St. Anthony s High School! Congratulations to the Knights of Columbus on finally getting their Annual Golf Outing accomplished in October! Mother Nature threw you quite a few curve balls but you managed it with patience and humor... We re glad it turned out to be a big success! Thanks to everyone who supported their efforts. Congratulations once again to John and Patty Carr on receiving the St. Agnes Award from Bishop Barres on October 28 th. It was a proud moment watching the both of you at St. Agnes Cathedral and a reminder that the two of you are emblematic of scores of folks here at St. Joseph s giving the best of yourselves to our parish and our brothers and sisters every day! On October 30 th I was privileged to participate in a Prayer Vigil at the Kings Park Jewish Center in memory of the innocent victims of the synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, PA. More so, how wonderful to see the faces of so many St Joseph s parishioners in the overflow crowd! I can tell you, Rabbi Rabinovich was overwhelmed with the demonstration of support from the Kings Park Community. It was an event that was quickly organized and I m certain that with more lead time the crowd would have been immeasurable. My thanks to the Catholic Daughters for the invitation to celebrate their 95 th Anniversary Mass on November 10 th... congratulations on achieving this milestone! Arriving at this point in your history is due in large measure to the CDA members who went before you... keep up the great work in the present moment so that those who follow you will reap the benefits of your contributions! It was a similar privilege to celebrate the Knights of Columbus Annual Memorial Mass for their deceased members on November 14 th... a long and illustrious list of brothers who strengthened their council and enriched our parish. Eternal Rest Grant Unto Them, O, Lord...Bless their memory. I d also like to express my appreciation to everyone who supported the Thanksgiving Pie Sale which benefits our Catholic School ~ Holy Family Regional. This is a unique partnership between the good folks at White Post Farms and Holy Family and it has proven to be very successful... It s also a very convenient method of purchasing award-winning desserts without having to leave town! And then...it was Thanksgiving! We kicked off the week with the Annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service which St Joseph s hosted this year... I was happy to see so many familiar faces in the crowd and to welcome many of our neighbors who attend our nearby houses of worship. One of the nice things about living in Kings Park is that people know their neighbors ~ even if you go to a different church ~ and when we come together like this it s very comfortable and enjoyable. Many thanks to Cathy Jones for organizing the hospitality that followed the service. Thanksgiving Day was appropriately begun with a well-attended Mass at 10:00 AM...afterwards we enjoyed refreshments provided by our Knights of Columbus (Thank You Gentlemen!) while the Annual Fall Raffle was being conducted. Some folks had an extra-special reason to be thankful when their winning ticket was pulled and a few of them caused us to be grateful when they donated some of their windfall back to St Joseph s!... Congratulations to all our winners and a big THANK YOU to EVERYONE who participated. Don t Forget: Our Annual Christmas Pageant (with an absolutely adorable cast) is next Saturday, December 1 st at 3:00 PM in the church AND Our Annual Advent/Christmas Concert is on Sunday, December 9 th at 2:30 PM. 4 ST. JOSEPH'S FAMILY MASS! St. Joseph's Parish is excited to announce the Family Mass Schedule for ! December 2 nd and 16 th January 6 th and 20 th February 3 rd and 17 th March 3 rd and 17 th April 7 th Please join us for Family Mass at 11:00 AM in Travis Hall and experience the joy that comes from attending Sunday Mass as a family! The liturgy will be specifically inclusive of our youngsters who are attending with their families. Immediately following Mass we will enjoy hospitality together!

5 Please join us for our Children s Christmas Pageant Saturday, December 1 st at 3:00 PM in the Church! Our children have been practicing diligently to bring us a wonderful interpretation of the Christmas Nativity Story. This will be a fun and memorable family event for our parish. All are welcome! Refreshments will be served immediately after the Pageant in Travis Hall, so that you can meet and thank all our little actors!
