3 Pentecost XXV1 Proper 28 November 13, 2016 The Vision Statement of St. Andrew Parish Church is: A church reconciled to God, aware of its identity and healing the community through the proclamation of the Good News of the Gospel of Christ. The Mission Statement reads: The mission of the St. Andrew Parish Church is to proclaim the good news and inspire the parish family to unity with God and one another by: 1. Ensuring that the church establishes programmes to maintain, engage and expand membership. 2. Identifying and mobilizing the human and financial resources available to the church. 3. Responding to human needs as we work for the transformation of unjust structures and the preservation of the integrity of the created order. 4. Presenting the Biblical tithe as the standard of Christian giving and the shaping of the programmes of ministry that express the stewardship of God s creation. 5. Immersing our members in and expanding the knowledge of Christian identity in the context of our cultural experience and obligations they impose. 3.

4 Pentecost XXVI Proper 26 November 13, 2016 THE PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Leader: We pray for preachers of the word, theologians and Bible translators, for all organizations that seek to provide people with the Scriptures. We remember before you all who are growing in the faith for those in confirmation classes and preparation for baptism classes. We pray for shepherds of your flock, for all ministers of your word and sacrament for John, Archbishop, Howard, Diocesan Bishop, Robert and Leon Suffragan Bishops, for Sirrano, Olando, Andrea, and all clergy and church workers. Lord of the Scriptures Leader: Lord of the Nations, we pray for our nation and leaders; for Patrick, Governor General, Andrew, Prime Minister, Portia, leader of the Parliamentary Opposition, members of the House of Representatives and for all members of the judiciary that they may serve justice, protect and promote the welfare and well-being of our people. Lord of the Scriptures Leader: Lord, creator of all, help us to be aware of our stewardship of the environment and creation and grant that we may use the resources of the earth rightly. Enable us to protect our watershed and landscape from pollution. We pray for areas where the soil is overworked, and the landscape is unproductive. We pray for farmers where crops have failed and fishermen of our world especially in areas where reefs have been overfished. Lord of the Scriptures. Leader: We pray for all who work to promote your kingdom, all who seek release for captives, to bring sight to the blind, to bind up the broken-hearted and to restore the fallen. We ask your blessing on relief agencies and care workers, for the work of the Red Cross, the United Nations and the World Health Organization and save the Children fund. Lord of the Scriptures Leader: We pray for homes where it is difficult to be a Christian, 4.

5 where there is enmity and strife, and violence, for homes where there is neglect and abuse. We give thanks for all agencies, organizations and people that support families in their needs and crisis. We pray for friends and loved ones who have lost faith, for any who have become hard and cynical, for all who fail to see glimpses of glory, or hear your call. Lord of the Scriptures Leader: We give thanks that you bear us up and do not suffer us to face destruction; you offer us life which is eternal. We pray for loved ones departed, for all who have left sorrow and pain for life and love eternal. Lord of the Scriptures All: Lord God Almighty, we look for you, we long for you, we watch for you, we wait for you. Give us wisdom to know you and courage to serve you, whom to serve is perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. 6 Faith Formation and Christian Education Did you know? There is a difference between a Tabernacle and an Aumbry. Though both are used for the exclusive reservation of the consecrated elements (the Body and Blood of Christ), the Tabernacle is either placed on an Altar or an adjacent wall to the Altar, while an Aumbry is less obvious, because it is set into the wall. However, both are able to be locked in order to prevent the consecrated elements from being removed without authorization. Quote for reflection The five Marks stress the doing of mission. Faithful action is the measure of our response to Christ (cf Matt. 25:31-46; Jas. 2:14-26) However, the challenge facing us is not just to do mission, but to be a people of mission. That is, we are learning to allow every dimension of church life to be shaped and directed by our identity as a sign, foretaste and instrument of God s reign in Christ. Our understanding of mission needs to make that clear.
