4 The Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost Parish Happenings Readings for next Sunday: Amos 8: 4-7; Psalm 113; 1 Timothy 2: 1-7; Luke 16: Bible Study will resume on Wednesday, September 14 th at 9:30am and 7:30pm. Homecoming Service will be on Sunday, September 18 th with one service at 9:30am. We will return to our regular service schedule of 7:30am and 11:00am on Sunday, September 25 th, Transportation Service (Church Bus) will resume on Sunday, September 25 th. Nursing and Allied Outreach (NAO) annual scholarship application form is available in the Church Office. Applicants must be high school graduates/college freshmen with GPA 3.0 or better. Applications and related documents deadline is September 18 th Church Office. Applications for Confirmation are now being accepted for candidates born in 2004 and earlier. A copy of your Baptismal Certificate must be attached to the application. Applicants for Reception and Renewal are also welcomed. Please see Carol Gaskill for more information. The Choirs and Musicians of St. Luke s Episcopal Church invite you to a Home Coming Concert on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 6:00pm. Donation: $30 (Adults), $10 (Children 12 and under). This will be a celebration of Music with Voices, Drums, Dance, Pan, Organ and many other musical styles. Tickets are available from any choir member. Sunday School resumes on September 25 th at 9:30am. All are invited. Parents/Guardians are requested to complete registration forms and meet their child/children s Sunday school teacher(s). As customary since our 100 th Anniversary, we are asking for your annual special contribution of dollars matching the number of years of our church s anniversary. This year as we celebrate St. Luke s Day on October 16 th, we are appealing for your donation of $ to mark our 103rd Anniversary. This contribution can be made in the Church Anniversary envelope found in your box of tithing envelopes. Special envelopes will be available for those without. Stewardship Corner Jesus said, Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Luke 12:34). A heart is like a hinge that enables one to swing. A heart fastened on earthly things is unable to swing past the threat to, or loss of, that to which it is attached. Have you included your church, St. Luke s Episcopal Church in your will? Father, we pray for all who suffer from pain, disease, human discomfort, and misery, that God may bring healing and joy for the renewal of their faith.
