Please join members of the parish in a Holy Hour from 3:00-4:00pm every Friday, for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Mercy Stations of the Cross during Eucharistic Adoration. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is also prayed every morning after the 8:30 am Mass, Monday through Thursday during the school year and additionally after the 8:30 am Mass on Friday mornings during the summer months. If you cannot be present to pray with us at the parish at these times, simply join in prayer with us spiritually by briefly thinking of our Lord s Passion & Death every day at 3:00pm and especially on Friday s at 3:00pm by simply praying the words, Jesus I Trust in You. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 4 St. John the Evangelist Weekly Bulletin Dear Folks, THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST Many thanks goes out to our dear Dominican Sisters, Sr. Mary Martha and Sr. Cecilia, for their work with the kids in our annual parish Faith Camp. Sr. Mary Martha hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, not far from the home of Steve and Cindy Chapman. Sr. Cecilia hails from Mexico City, not far from the home of Judy Pineda. The greatest of accolades go out to Sherin Murphy, Donna May, Tami Burns, and many others who did a great job in promoting the program as well as setting it up for the young ones of the parish. A production that was months in the making. Cecile B DeMille would have been envious. Well done. Many thanks to all the parishioners who were involved in the baby bottle program, raising money for the unwed mothers in the Paul Stephan Program. The shelter program, located near Culpeper, has been a great influence to some of our own local folks. The director of the program, Mr. Randy Davis, indicated the program now has to include attention for those mothers also caught up in the Opioid epidemic. How very, very sad. Your kindness is most appreciated. Please, please, please don t forget to send me a picture of your relatives or friends from the parish who are serving in the military. God bless them and may the angels watch over them. I have a rosary to give each of the young ones going off to the military. Each is light weight, nonmetallic, and very durable to carry the distance. An updated board of pictures will be placed in the entrance of the church. Let us remember the young ones in our prayers and encouragement. Speaking of encouragement. during the Summer time many of the Eucharistic adoration members sneak away for vacations. To sustain the security of the Blessed Sacrament in adoration we need many new members to come in and replace those who will be gone. Please take the time to come and offer and hour in prayer before the Lord. God bless you as you become the medium of many blessings that come to the church by your devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharistic adoration hours are all day Wednesday and continuously from Thursday morning following the 8:30 Mass to Saturday morning, before the 8:30 Mass. A signup sheet can be found at the entrance to the Church. Please call me, , if you need any help in joining this most important apostolate in the parish. Let us pray for one another. Now that Summer is here we are allowed a reprieve from all the distraction that overwhelm us in the school year. Let everyone enjoy their Summer vacations. May they be happy, healthy, and holy. For those staying please join me in watching the upcoming play by the Torch Drama Group of the parish. Many accolades go out to Miss Ceci Galvin, youth director of the parish, and her many actors and actresses from the parish youth programs and some local home school kids not in the parish. The Play is, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I am going just to see the character, Caractacus Potts, played by Dick Van Dyke, in the movie of the same name. The Show times are: 7:00 PM June 22 nd thru the 24 th with a 2:00pm only show on June 25 th. A second weekend of shows are scheduled for 7:00 PM on June 29 th, 30 th, and July 1 st. Yahhooooooo. Come on down. There will be plenty of popcorn. Collegiate answer: The number of days considered to have passed between the escape from Egypt and meeting the Lord and Mt. Sinai numbers around fifty which are number of days set from the Resurrection of Christ to the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The flame on the mountain demonstrated the divinity of God present and the tongues of fire in the upper room demonstrated the divinity found in the Holy Spirit. Collegiate Question: In honor of the Indian parishioners of the parish. Who was the first canonized Saint of India and most surprisingly, when did the canonization take place? In what century. 5 St. John the Evangelist Weekly Bulletin 18 June 2017 Greetings, Plans to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Elementary building next year continue to take shape. A logo has been approved and a Facebook account has been created to reach out to previous SJES alumni students. Please continue to check the bulletin as a "SAVE THE DATE" ad will soon be posted for November 17,18 and 19. We have several activities planned on campus and we plan to celebrate the traditions of the past while enriching our school's future. I offer many thanks to members of the Anniversary Committee, especially Cindi Chapman. This is the last parish bulletin until the beginning of the school year. Principal Macdonald Religious Ed RE Registrations: All students in grades 1-12 who are not attending a Catholic school should be enrolled in RE classes. Pre-filled RE registration forms for current students are available at the parish office. We have begun accepting RE Registrations for the upcoming year. Please call or stop by the Preschool Office for more info or to schedule a tour at St. John Preschool has 3 Summer Fun and Learning Camps available for 3, 4 and 5 year-olds and is open to the Parish. All camps are taught by qualified staff members and follow a theme each week. Camp hours are 8:00am -2:30pm with Extended Day available until 6:00pm for a separate fee. Space is limited. Please call the Preschool Office for more information at SUMMER RCIA CLASSES - We invite all interested Adults to a Summer RCIA class starting June 6th. All RCIA classes are also open to parishioners who would like a refresher on our faith. Classes will meet each Tuesday evening from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm at the school. CATHOLIC FAITH CAMP This Year s Catholic Faith Camp was a success! A big thank you to Sr. Mary Martha and Sr. Cecilia from the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. We were blessed to have the Sisters here who came to spend the week with us and to help make this Faith Camp very special. The gift of their presence enriched us all. In celebration of the 100-Year Anniversary of the Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the children at Fatima, Portugal, Father Gould is leading a discussion of Our Lady of Fatima by William T. Walsh. Not the newest book on this subject, but considered by many still to be the best, it is an inspiring and compelling account of momentous events which are as important today as they were 100 years ago. Work Camp News: Attention all parishioners, work camp volunteers are in need of 4 to 5 water coolers to take to camp. If you can help them out, please have the cooler at the parish office before the 23 rd of June, it would be greatly appreciated. Work camp will be the last week of June, you will be able to pick up your cooler the first week of July when they come back. 8

Make calls to parishioners, especially those living alone. There is also free transportation through Vol-Tran. The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat others, as if they were Christ in disguise.
