1 Route 46 East, Netcong, NJ Volume 11, Issue 9 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2) The answer boils down to the way we think. The Bible asserts that right thinking produces right living. Real and lasting change happens when we learn how to renew our minds. How does that happen? Find out as our pastoral teaching team teaches the practical and powerful process that will lead us to change the way we think...and live. Twelve years ago, on Tuesday morning, September 11, many of us were devastated by the sight we saw. Each year since those terrorist attacks, Americans have found different ways to remember loved ones who have fallen. In 2013, we want to honor their memory a little differently. On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, we are calling for a church-wide day of prayer and fasting. This is a call for every congregant at Grace to follow the words of 2 Chronicles 7:14, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. We will end the day with a prayer meeting at 7:00 P.M. in the Youth Room. In our prayers, we are seeking to humble ourselves before God, seek His face for mercy and revival, confess our sin along with the sin(s) of our nation, pray for our nation s future, and take concrete steps and effective action to true and lasting repentance. A prayer guide will be available on Sunday, September 8. If you have any questions, you can reach Pastor Segun Shegz Aiyegbusi at segun@grace4families.com.

2 MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM We think becoming an official Member of Grace Church is an important step for everyone who has chosen to call Grace their church home. Actually, we prefer to refer to our members as Partners, because, as a partner, you are an invested cog in the wheel. We NEED our Partners to make Grace the Church that God wants us to be. Grace is not a brick and mortar building. It is a group of Partners who have made the commitment to put down roots here. Partners are willing to do their part to Raise Up Generations of Families that Are Built to Last. If you would like to find out more about what it means to be an official Partner, come to our Partnership classes on September 8,15, and 22 from 5-7 P.M. in Room 204 (Grace Café). This is the class for you to find out all you need to know in order to make that commitment to becoming an official partner with us. Call Mary Ann in the church office at or maryann@grace4families.com to sign up! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Page 2 Wednesday, September 4, 7:00 P.M., Netcong Campus Join us at our monthly Communion service. In September, we will not only celebrate communion, but baptisms as well. We will also hear the final part in our series on the Lord's Prayer. Join in the worship, and hear from Pastor Reuben Sheeringa as he speaks powerfully from the word and equips us for the battles we face every day; equipping us through prayer. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Are you a prayer warrior? Do you speak with the Lord often? Consider praying for others at Grace as part of that conversation. Every day Grace Church has close to a hundred people praying for the needs of others through an prayer chain. If you are a person of prayer and a believer in Jesus Christ, we need you on our Prayer Team. If you are interested in finding out more, contact Mary Ann at: maryann@grace4families.com. If you are in need of prayer, let Mary Ann know and she will publish your request to the team. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmm BEGINS ANEW on September 9 MARK THE DATE! You don't have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare groups help you move toward rebuilding your life after the loss of a loved one. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements: r Expert Video Seminar r Focused Support Group Discussion r Workbook based personal study GriefShare meets weekly on Monday evenings at 7:00 P.M. at the Netcong Campus (Room 101-Library) and meets weekly. Questions? Contact Frank or Kathy Rizzo at MMMMMMMMMMMMMM Saturdays, beginning September 7 8:00 A.M. in the Youth Room To wish for change will change nothing. To make the decision to take action right now will change everything. (Nick Vujicic). On Saturday, September 7, at 8:00 A.M. your life could very well change in a remarkable way. That is the first day of our next Run for God class Get up, get moving and come join other family members from Grace for a physical and spiritual training program. The program mission is to strengthen us spiritually, mentally and physically. The program goal is to get all participants to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) road-race, using God s word as a primary source of inspiration and guidance. The first class was a huge success with more than 40 participants completing the Roxbury 5K last May. It doesn t matter if you have never run, or if you are a seasoned runner, there is a place for you in this class. The training literally starts with jog/walk intervals for just a few minutes. The class is for ages 5 and up and will run for 12 weeks. The cost to participate is $20 for the book, which can be shared amongst family members. The price of not participating is, never knowing if you could cross the finish line. The joy of accomplishing something you never thought possible priceless. Helen Keller said, Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. The place between your comfort zone and your dreams is where life takes place. Are you ready to take action right now and leave your comfort zone? For more information Dave Hickey at djhickey@comcast.net. Sign up in the lobby or just show up on Saturday, September 7.

3 September's Topic: What Does The Owner's Manual Say? Participants will discover: r The true nature of marriage r Under what circumstances the Bible clearly permits divorce r How to use the Bible and other tools to make wise postdivorce decisions Recommend DivorceCare to someone you know who can benefit from it! DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life's most difficult experiences. Gain access to valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life. DivorceCare meets on the first Sunday of every month at the Netcong Campus (September 1) from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Childcare is not provided. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM You don t have to go through it alone Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they ve ever faced. It s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you ve never faced before. On Monday, September 9, our DivorceCare ministry will be meeting weekly for thirteen weeks. This recovery group will meet from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Netcong Campus, Room 100. This offering is in addition to our once a month DivorceCare group meeting Sunday nights. You do not need to attend both sessions. Pick the one that's right for you. Contact Steve or Tracy Heady at sheady521@optonline.net with any questions. You can also check out the DivorceCare Website at to learn more. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM We are excited to be able to reach out to couples who have a blended family. The iconic Brady Bunch, captures the stress and the joy of a blended family all with a nice, neat, happy ending. But what if you're not living a television script but experiencing this type of life first hand? You know, for yourself, the hard work and the love that it takes to succeed. On Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, we will be holding a very special marriage seminar specifically for married couples with blended families. Over the course of these hours, we will provide families 1) with an understanding of the most common problems that can occur in a blended family structure; problems that are unique to this family structure AND 2) a structure for working through these problems utilizing common sense solutions and biblical resources. You will understand how God's word can be your guide and your roadmap to success. The seminar will take place at the Netcong Campus, and space is limited to eleven couples. A non-refundable $20 per couple off-sets the cost of seminar materials and lunch on Saturday. Please arrange for your own childcare needs at home. The seminar is being presented by Grace's own Bob McCloskey from Christian Life Coaching Ministry. Please contact maryann@grace4families.com to register now for this unique event; or call ext. 10. 10 We announced earlier this summer that we were planning to launch a 5th service at our Netcong campus on Sunday evenings. The launch date we proposed was Sunday, September 8. We are still on course to launch the service this fall, however we need to push the launch date a little further out. In our efforts to make this service as excellent as what you ve become accustomed to on Sunday mornings, a few details still need to be worked out. We truly believe that this new evening service will have a great impact on the lives of many within and on the outskirts of our community. We are certainly still moving ahead with it, but we want to do so in God's best timing. So stay tuned, we will be announcing a new launch date shortly! It s with great anticipation and excitement that we enter into the 2013 fall season at Grace Church. We are eager to see God move powerfully through all our worship services and draw many who are far from Him into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. We desire to see lives changed, marriages healed, the broken restored, and families made whole, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. (Colossians 1:28) To prepare ourselves for what we expect to be an outpouring of God s Spirit and favor on our Church, we want to enter into a season of prayer. Join us for prayer every Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. in the basement of the white building next to the church. You don t need to sign up. Just bring a Bible and a heart full of faith, and we ll guide you in prayer as we call on the name of the Lord together. If you have any questions, you can reach pastor Segun Shegz Aiyegbusi at segun@grace4families.com Page 10 Page 10

11 Tuesday Morning Bible Study Begins September 24, :20-11:20 AM Gideon: Your Weakness. God's Strength This 8 session study by Priscilla Shirer is about God and His people--his love for them as well as His strength operating in spite of, even through, their weakness. From a state of fear, weakness, and insecurity Gideon emerged as Israel's hero, filled with God's presence and His passion for deliverance. This study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, see them as the gifts that they are, given specifically and strategically by God. If you've ever felt insufficient, ill-equipped, incompetent, or outnumbered, this study is for you. Sign up in the lobby. Words are powerful. Especially the words women speak to themselves when they lie in bed at night or look in the mirror in the morning is not even close to the words God wants them to speak to their souls. According to Rothschild, what we think about often has a ripple effect on nearly every area of our lives. Sign up in the lobby.
