1 FEBURARY 2015 VOLUME 13 ISSUE 2 To Raise Up Generations of Families That are Built to Last On February 6, drop your kids off at church and you go have a date! Your children will be cared for at Grace where they will have a structured program run by some wonderful adults and teens who will take great care of them while you enjoy a care-free evening out with your spouse. Sound good? You need to do a few things: 1. Get your childcare voucher in advance! Your kids must be registered in advance to be dropped off. You can register Sundays, January 25 and February 1, or at a MOPS meeting. 2. Pay for your child care voucher when you register. The cost for childcare is $5 per child to be donated to the Sr. High Missions Team and the hours are 6:30-9:00 P.M. A snack will be served, but not dinner. 3. Plan a great Date! If you have no children or are an empty-nester we could use your help. We would like to invite you to invest in the lives of these young families by helping us in the children s program that evening. We will provide you with all you need. You will just need to be there to work with the children. What a great way to live out our vision to raise up generations of families that are built to last! For more information, contact Tim Leonard at ext. 17 or tim@grace4families.com. For child care questions, contact Janice Rodland at ext. 22 or janice@grace4families.com. (973)

2 We are very glad that you came to worship with us at Grace Church on the Mount! We would love the chance to get to know you better. You can help us begin that process by filling out a welcome card, located in the back of the auditorium chairs. Return the card to the Guest Services desk in the lobby, then visit the Grace Café and get to know some new friends. Find out more about our church, our passions, and all our community events by visiting During the month of February, we are encouraging everyone to pray for the families and ministries of Grace! How is it going to happen? Every day, we will post a prayer prompt on the Grace Church Facebook page. Just browse the page, review the prompt and begin your conversation with the Father; know that you will be praying for the same people and ministries as your other friends at Grace. A new prayer topic will be presented each day and you can pray any time that is convenient for you. It may be simple, but we can expect great things from our Father! What you can expect: A joyous time of worship in song An exploration of the Word A reflective time at the Lord s Table Childcare is provided birth through Kindergarten What is marriage? Why does it matter? How can we get better at it? The Bible begins and ends with a wedding. That clearly means this divinely-instituted union must be quite important. It behooves us to understand its meaning as well as to sharpen our understanding of the skill set that a healthy marriage requires. 1+1=ONE is a seven-week series that will help us properly to "do the math" of what it takes to have a great and durable marriage. January 25: Part 3: Marriage for Life February 1: Part 4: The Goal February 8: Part 5: Basic Skills February 15: Part 6: The Confusing Equation (Headship & Submission) February 22: Part 7: One is a Whole Number (Singleness)

3 Consider praying for others at Grace as part of your dedicated time with Christ. Nearly every day Grace Church has close to a hundred people praying for the needs of others. If you are a person of prayer and a believer in Jesus Christ, we need you on our Prayer Team. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Mary Ann at or maryann@grace4families.com. If you are in need of prayer, let Mary Ann know, and she will publish your request. Grace Church on the Mount is a great church! One of the things that makes it great is the people who call it home. If you would like to learn more about the church and what it means to be a member of Grace, we would invite you to attend three classes that will be held on February 15, 22 and March 1 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. in the Youth Room. These classes are designed to answer all your questions about Grace and what it means to be a member here. Please contact Mary Ann in the church office at maryann@grace4families.com or to sign up. There is no charge and childcare is available if you register your children when you sign up. Raising a child in today s world can be a frightening proposition. If you are a new parent and want to dedicate yourself to raising your child to be a follower of Christ, YOU NEED HELP!! Grace Church on the Mount is here for you. You can participate in our next Child Dedication Sunday on February 22. This is a service in which you make public your desire to raise your child following biblical principles and you seek the help and support of your church family. If interested, please attend the class for parents on Sunday, February 15, at 9:45 A.M. in the Church Office. If you would like to participate in this service contact Mary Ann in the church office at or maryann@grace4families.com. Do you have a business you would like to share with the Grace Church congregation? Would you like to use the businesses or network with other businesses that attend Grace Church? Starting this February, Grace In Business ministry is providing an on-line business directory and a regular business networking meeting. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 10, from 7:00-9:00 P.M. in Room 200. Participants must consider Grace Church their home church to be listed. It is necessary to attend the networking meetings to be eligible for inclusion in the business directory (annual fee $5). Further details will be provided on the business directory website. You can also contact the organizers james.naylor@kenovatech.com or mark.breckenridge@kenovatech.com. One of the most exciting and successful groups at Grace is the Run For God group. This group has allowed people to improve their health, expand their personal goals, form new friendships, deepen their faith and glorify the God that makes it all possible. Many people have gone from complete nonrunners to being able to complete 5K, and 10K races, half and even full marathons. The most important thing you need to know is this group is for YOU! It is designed for all types of people. If you have never run at all, this group is for you, if you are an accomplished runner, there is a place for you as well. There have been participants from 7 to 74, so age is also not an obstacle. You will complete a study that explores the parallels between what it takes to have an enduring faith and what it means to be an endurance athlete, as well as what God s Word says about taking care of your body. This class will be accepting anyone interested in running their first 5K, 10K or half marathon, or if you are already a runner, improving your running goals at any of those distances. The next class begins on Saturday, February 14, in the Youth Room at 8:00 A.M. Sign up in the lobby or contact Dave Hickey at djhickey@comcast.net.

Men, Are You Looking for the Perfect Valentine s Day Gift? Grace Women s Retreat FULLY ALIVE March 20-22, 2015, at Dolce Basking Ridge, New Jersey Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 If you have a woman in your life and you are looking for a special gift for Valentine s Day, give the gift of spiritual strengthening! We have created a beautiful gift bag and included the book Victory over the Darkness by Neil Anderson, which along with scripture will form the foundation of the weekend content. The retreat this year will be a special time of prayer, meditation and fellowship as we discover what it means to unlock the power of our identity in Christ. As believers, Christ lives in our hearts; but are we living free, full, and joyous lives? Or are we struggling with feelings of failure, rejection, sin, faithlessness, and trouble in our relationships? Believers in Christ are not immune to spiritual warfare. We too have struggles. In His Word, God continually provides powerful truths and clear pathways for you to live a fulfilled, secure, successful, and peaceful life. Come and learn how to win the battle for your mind and heart, as we interact and internalize the Truth. Learn how to become the spiritually mature, significant, and satisfied saint that God has called you to be. Spend time with God, seeing what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Our time together will be a weekend of refreshing encounters, righting our minds and hearts through prayer, meditation on God s Word, and fellowship with other women. Spaces are limited! Tickets and Gift Bags will be available in the church lobby through February 8. Please contact Sherrie McDonald at sherrie@grace4families.com with any questions.

7 EVENT: SCREENING OF THE FILM, NEFARIOUS, MERCHANT OF SOULS DATE: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27 TIME: 7:00 PM PLACE: YOUTH ROOM Length of Film: 1 hour 43 minutes WHAT IS NEFARIOUS, MERCHANT OF SOULS? Nefarious is a 2011 American documentary film that exposes the disturbing trends of modern day sex slavery. From the first scene, Nefarious gives an in-depth look at the human trafficking industry, showing where slaves are sold (often in developed, affluent countries), where they work, and where they are confined. With footage shot in over nineteen different countries, Nefarious exposes the nightmare of sex slavery as experienced by hundreds of thousands daily through the eyes of both the enslaved and their traffickers. Nefarious features expert analysis from international humanitarian leaders and captures the gripping and triumphant testimonies of survivors in order to galvanize hope and vision. Nefarious was written, directed, produced and narrated by Benjamin Nolot, founder and president of Exodus Cry, the film s distributor. Exodus Cry is built on a foundation of prayer and is committed to abolishing sex slavery through Christ-centered prevention, intervention and holistic restoration of trafficking victims. WHY SHOULD I SEE THIS FILM? The purpose of this film according to Nolot is to draw people s attention to the issue, but also to inspire them in terms of what they can be doing to take a stand against this injustice. Go to: for more information or to watch a trailer of the film. This film is not rated, it is not suitable for children. Any questions, contact Jenny Bowman at jenny@justice-network.org, Marisol MacCheyne at marisol@justice-network.org, or Tim Leonard at ext. 17 or tim@grace4families.com. In an effort to raise up generations of families that are built to last, Children's Ministries is coming alongside families to provide an incentive which we hope will encourage verse memorization for our children. As you know, the Bible encourages us to hide God's word in our hearts and it's hard to imagine any activity more helpful in living a successful life than the memorization of the Scriptures. If you haven't already picked up a Children's Ministries Brochure, please do so in either the preschool or elementary wings. Inside, you will find verses that even our youngest students can memorize. Once the kids have a verse locked in their heart, they should recite it to either the preschool coordinator, Susan McDermott, the elementary coordinator, Tara DiGiacomo, or the 6:00 P.M. coordinator, Courtney Kane, for a small prize. Once all of the verses have been memorized, the child will be entered into a raffle to win a 7.85" NuVision Tablet. There will be four tablets awarded...one for preschool, one in elementary, and two in Club 56 (our 5th & 6th grade class). The big prizes will be presented in Sunday School on June 28. The last chance to say the verses will be June 21. Tips on how to memorize Scripture can be found in the brochure. Have fun working with your children toward this life-changing goal! It is that time again!! Join us for our annual Trivia Game Night. A great time of fun and fellowship. Teams will consist of 8-10 people. You can sign up as a set team or as an individual and be placed on a team. Trivia questions will cover all types of topics from movies to sports, history to music, something for everyone. Prizes awarded to the team with the most correct answers. When: Saturday, February 28 Time: 7:00 9:00 P.M. Cost: Free (a free-will offering will be taken for our Youth Missions Trip) Refreshments will be served. Sign ups will be held in the lobby February 15 & 22. Come out for a great night of fun with your friends, family and neighbors while supporting our Sr. High Missions Team.
