6 Finance Ministry Northview University presents: Financial Peace University Financial Peace University (FPU), a nine-week course, teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small-group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you've dreamed you could be financially. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely and more! 7 Growth Growth Alpha Alpha is a nine-week course designed to explore the key issues relating to the Christian faith in a relaxed, friendly setting. Each class begins with desserts, followed by a short video and small-group discussion time. Come explore the validity and significance of the Christian faith in our lives today. Course participants will also attend Alpha s Day Away, where three powerful talks will be shared. Discipleship Walk The Discipleship Walk is a three-day weekend experience designed to draw participants into a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Lord and to experience God s love in tangible ways. Those who participate are better equipped to live as modern-day disciples of Jesus. 8 Growth Growth Disciple 2 Disciple 2 is a series of 20 spiritual conversations between two Christ-followers over a one-year period. These Biblefocused discussions are designed to help both people grow in their knowledge and devotion to being a disciple of Jesus Christ. In this one-on-one journey, one person is taking the lead by initiating the relationship and leading conversations. Becoming a fully devoted disciple of Christ is a lifelong process, and Disciple 2 is simply one step in a journey that spans a lifetime. To engage in the Disciple 2 spiritual mentorship program, prayerfully determine whom you d like to be your mentor or mentee. Let God be the matchmaker. Whoever God brings to your mind, ask that person to join you in the program. Then the contact details for both the mentor and mentee to dave.choutka@northviewchurch.us. Membership Class Membership at Northview offers the opportunity to make a statement of greater commitment to the church. This class helps explain our membership process, reviews the expectations of our members and discusses the theology at Northview. Membership allows you to vote on church leadership and changes to Northview s constitution and bylaws, as well as other substantial changes in the life of the church. Childcare is provided by Northview Kids. You only need to attend one class. 10 Healing and Recovery Pastoral Care Ministry The Pastoral Care Ministry provides support and encouragement to those who are sick, injured and hospitalized. We also provide assistance and grief support for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Please inform us if you or someone you know would like pastoral care. 11 Life Groups Life Groups We believe life change can and will happen in Life Groups, and we strongly encourage everyone to be involved in one. Community is essential to our spiritual journey, so we organize the groups around your life stage, schedule and location. Groups meet every week or every other week in homes. You can expect to participate in a biblicallybased study, develop relationships with each other and do life together. In the fall, we'll start several new Life Groups for our church-wide spiritual growth campaign. You'll have opportunities to join and host new groups at that time. 12 Marriage Ministry Dynamic Marriage Dynamic Marriage is a transformational nine-week course for married couples. Through an interactive process, couples identify behaviors that may be damaging your marriage, develop healthy ways to deal with marital conflict and take concrete steps to meet each other's emotional needs. 16 Northview Kids Northview Kids Weekend Services Northview Kids is our children's ministry for kids ages birth through 4th grade. No matter the age or need, your child will experience God's love here at Northview. In creative and inspiring classrooms, kids learn about God and His immense love for everyone through playtime, songs, activities and storytelling. For more information, visit northviewkids.us. Date/Time 9 & 11 a.m. on Sundays Baby Dedications Baby Dedications are conducted during Weekend Services on Mother s Day and in December. By dedicating your child, you are coming forward to declare that, as the parent, you take your responsibility seriously and commit yourself to raising your children in a God-honoring manner. A class is required in advance for all participating families. Family Experience (FX) Family Experience (FX) is a worship and teaching event for the whole family. Each FX service will introduce the next month of curriculum that we will teach our elementary students in Northview Kids. FX will incorporate high-energy worship, fun crowd games, interactive biblical teaching, and family small-group time. We will even send a "widget" home with you that will help your family keep the spiritual conversation happening all month long. Although FX is designed with elementary kids and parents in mind, we believe the entire family will benefit, and we welcome kids of all ages. Please note that no childcare will be available, and this is not a drop-off event. You will remain together as a family for the entire event. We ask that you register for this free event so that we can plan well. However, we don't want registration to be a barrier for you to invite your friends and neighbors. 17 Northview Kids Northview Kids Parent Baptism Class How do you know if your child is ready for baptism? Please join Northview Kids for this class to assist you in determining your child s readiness for this next step in his or her spiritual development. We will walk through what it means to be baptized, the process for baptism weekend and some next steps beyond baptism. Please note that Northview Kids suggests that a child be at least 8 years old to be baptized; however, we trust your judgment as the parent. When parents have completed the class and feel their child is ready to move forward with baptism, they can register at northviewchurch.us. Summer Adventure Summer Adventure is a 36-hour event for kids in grades 2 4. We ll spend the night at the church, travel to local fun spots and experience a few surprises. The kids will learn more about God in ways that challenge them in their spiritual journey. 30 Serve One. Worship One. (SOWO) Join us this Christmas in Northview Kids! Additional Northview Kids volunteers are needed during all of our Christmas Eve services. Worship during one Christmas Eve service and volunteer to serve in Northview Kids doing another. This is a one-time-only commitment and a great way to test the water to see if serving in Northview Kids is a good fit for you. Transition Weekend During Weekend Services on Aug. 3, Northview Kids will move to their new classrooms or new grade levels for the school year. 19 Northview Students Northview Students Northview Students 5.6 Northview Students 5.6 is a place for fifth and sixth graders to meet during the 11 a.m. Weekend Service. Students can join us for a message geared toward their lives. It's also a great place to hang out, play games and get to know other students and leaders. No registration is required. Date/Time 11 a.m. 12:15 p.m. on Sundays Fall Blast Fall Blast is a retreat for seventh and eighth graders at Miracle Camp and Retreat Center in Lawton, Mich. Students will build relationships, make friends, grow deeper in their walk with Christ and have tons of fun! The weekend includes great worship, chapel sessions and small-group discussions as well as various activities such as games, a zipline, climbing wall, crafts, hayrides, s mores and water games. Date/Time 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug Northview Students 7.12 Students in grades 7.12, we invite you to join us Sunday nights at Northview to celebrate life through laughter, friendship, music and an encouraging message from God s Word. It s fun and fast-paced with practical messages designed for teens. We are connecting teens with God, and helping teens connect their friends with God. We ve got a seat saved for you, and we d love to have you check it out! We don t believe that church should be boring, and we try to prove that each week. No registration is required. Father-Daughter Purity Ball Girls in grades 7 12 who have not attended a previous Purity Ball and their fathers or male role models are invited to this special event. 20 Northview Students Northview Students Father-Son Chili Bowl You won't want to miss out on playing flag football with the guys, eating an awesome chili dinner and hearing an important message at our annual Chili Bowl at Northview s Carmel campus. All seventh- through 12th-grade guys and their father or male role models are invited. Date/Time Oct. 25 Cost $15 for two people and $5 for each additional person Location Northview s Carmel campus Mudder-Daughter Mud Run Be prepared to get muddy! This is a fun-filled event for mothers and their daughters in grades Participants will come to North Beach for breakfast and hear a message about their God-given identity. Mothers will have an opportunity to encourage their girls about the strengths and gifts they see in them. Afterward, everyone will participate in a 3K race at Northview with various obstacles and mud challenges throughout the course. Register at northviewchurch.us. Date/Time 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 Location Northview s Carmel campus, North Beach 36 Shake Up Kalamazoo Students from Northview s Greater Lafayette campus will travel to Shake Up Kalamazoo at Miracle Camp in Lawton, Mich. Enjoy a hybrid experience that offers both camp and serving together. We will be serving in Kalamazoo, Mich., during the day. Then we ll return to camp for worship, teaching and camp activities such as gym and field sports, high ropes, tubing, zipline and the blob. 22 Outreach Outreach 40 Bauer Community Center Mentorship Program The Bauer Community Center Mentorship Program offers an opportunity to volunteer 2-4 times per month for 1- or 2-hour time segments working with elementary and junior high students. Volunteer in either the after-school homework help time between 3 and 5 p.m. or the evening programming from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the school year. Training and orientation will be held in late August or mid-september. Please watch your worship program for the upcoming time and date of the callout meeting. Location Bauer Community Center, 330 Fountain St., Lafayette Contact Bill Wolfe at gloutreach@northviewchurch.us or Lafayette Transitional Housing Center (LTHC) Food Pantry Assistance The Lafayette Transitional Housing Center food pantry, the largest pantry in the county, serves all Tippecanoe County residents in need of food. Northview helps manage the pantry for LTHC. Volunteers serve a two-hour shift in the pantry once a week, bi-weekly or once a month. Help to stock shelves, organize donations, bag groceries and process paperwork. As a church going out to serve together, we strive to show Christ s love in a tangible way. We ll meet at Northview s Greater Lafayette campus and then head out to serve at various locations in the community. Kids Against Hunger packs are a great way to serve with your Life Group or family. Children of all ages are welcome.
