We would like to keep the list as current as possible. Thank you. Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time We recognize that unrepentant idolatry could dangerously lead us to anoint ourselves as gods. We become the golden calf! God thunders, Woe to the complacent in Zion! Lying upon beds of ivory they eat lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall!. We are reminded of the earlier scripture when the Israelites create a golden calf, but now the long unrepentant ones eat the calves and anoint themselves, acting as if they are half-gods. The psalm acts as a counterpoint, again addressing Zion and reaffirming the true and only Divinity: The Lord shall reign forever; your God, O Zion, through all generations. If we return to the story of the golden calf for its conclusion, we discover God s anger is rightly stirred. However, Moses intercedes for the Israelites, reminding God of his covenant: Remember your servants and how you swore to them saying, I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky; and all this land that I promised, I will give your descendants as their perpetual heritage. Remembering the promise, God remains faithful to the Israelites. Will we also remain true as we remember our relationship with God in this month s psalms? God s promise is far brighter than any golden calf can sparkle. Reach for the true Light and return again to God, the faithful one. Fr. Pat Difference ($10,065)

All members, member s family, family of diseased members and folks who helped with our ballfield lighting project are invited. The celebration will include a pork steak dinner. Anyone attending is asked to please bring a side or dessert and RSVP with one of the members below so that we can get a count for pork steaks. We hope to see you all there! Bottles can be turned in at the parish office. The money from these bottles will be used for Vitae Caring Foundation, MO Citizens for Life, Youth trip to Washington, For Life, Pro Life highway signs, and any other Pro Life needs in our diocese. Don t forget the tub in the back of Church for those less fortunate! When you use a coupon (buy 1, get 1 free) why not give the extra one to the poor. Or, when you are shopping, start a new habit of picking 1 item up extra for them. They will appreciate it and you will be practicing a Corporal Work of Mercy. Thank you. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE OPENING RALLY UPDATE All are invited to attend the Opening Rally of the 40 DFL on Tuesday, Sept 27 at 6pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 903 Bernadette, Columbia in Flanagan Hall. Mizzou Students for Life to speak at program and then process via carpools to Planned Parenthood, 711 N providence Rd, Columbia for a candlelight vigil service. Please go to to sign up for your own vigil hours from Sept 28 to Nov 6 anytime from 8am to 6pm daily with trained core person to greet and pray with you on the sidewalk.. We anticipate a HUGE turnout of sidewalk prayer time especially as Columbia PP has a pending application with DHSS to begin abortions again. Your physical presence is needed to combat the principalities seeking the death of children once more in Columbia. God has prevailed before and He CAN do it again. 4 Annual Assembly of the Missouri Catholic Conference JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY Celebrate the Year of Mercy! Plan on attending the Missouri Catholic Conference s 2016 Annual Assembly on Saturday, October 8, at the Missouri State Capitol building in Jefferson City. This free event is sponsored by the Missouri bishops and everyone is invited. The keynote speaker will be the new bishop of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, Bishop Edward Rice. Workshops will be offered on a number of issues, including how virtue meets a culture of violence and how Catholics can approach decisions for the 2016 election. Lunch is provided and the day will end with a Mass concelebrated by the bishops.
