Pastoral Care: Holy Communion may be received at home, in a nursing home or in the hospital. If you find yourself unable to attend Mass and want to receive Communion, either you or an immediate family member may call the office to make the necessary arrangements. Anointing of the Sick: Anyone in danger of death from a serious illness, an emergency situation or from advanced age ought to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. If you know, in advance, that you will be entering the hospital for a procedure, it is preferred that you receive the Anointing prior to entering the hospital. PASTORAL CARE VISITS Because of the Right to Privacy Laws, Good Shepherd is not notified of parishioners who are hospitalized, homebound, or have entered a health care facility. We must hear from you or a family member if you would like to be visited by someone. Please call the office with the necessary information and our pastor will be alerted. ASSISTANCE MINISTRY If you or someone you know needs meals provided or transportation to and from doctor appointments or therapy appointments please call Donna Cone at or the Parish Office at to arrange for assistance. 5 Just Another Day at the Shelter October 9th was a day for blessing the animals at the Humane Society of McCormick County s shelter. Father Bob, from the Good Shepard Catholic Church of McCormick, SC performed the ceremony for our shelter animals and patrons. It s evident from these photos that the day was a special one for our rescues. Father Bob & HSMC Volunteers

6 Diocese of Charleston Native American Catholics' Heritage Celebration Saturday, December 5, 2015 Corpus Christi Catholic Church 2350 Augusta Highway, Lexington, SC 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. All are invited to attend the 2015 Native American Catholics' Heritage Celebration, "Strengthening the Native American Family: Nourishing the Mind, body and Soul." Rev. Raymond Carlo, will serve as celebrant and Deacon Dale Palmer will serve as homilist for the Mass at noon and a luncheon and social will immediately follow. Sr. Kateri Mitchell, Executive Director of the Tekakwitha Conference will be the keynote speaker. Other guests include Chief Gene Norris of the PAIA Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC and Cathy Nelson and the Keepers of the Word Drum Team. This is a free event, but registration is required. Advent Piano Concert Mark your calendars and hold the date for an inspirational Advent Piano Concert on December 1 st at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary of the Lutheran Church by the Lake. Admission is free and a free will offering will be taken to benefit the children of the McCormick Children s Home. The concert will be performed by the Reverend Doctor Jim Morgan, an ordained Presbyterian Minister, composer, and accomplished musician. This Advent concert will feature hymns arranged by Dr. Morgan in a style similar to that of George Winston. The concert can be most enjoyed in an atmosphere of quiet reflection. This is a great way to get into the true Christmas spirit, so please come and hear some beautiful Advent music and support the children of the McCormick Children s Home. (The Native American Ministry is funded by a grant from the Black and Indian Mission.) Quit griping about your church; if it was perfect, you couldn't belong. I don't know why some people change churches; what difference does it make which one you stay home from?
