Every cook and helper blessed us in so many ways. The school children were so sweet. Being a part of the Mary's Home family is a beautiful blessing. The second collection is meant for supporting the work of Catholic Relief Services in the third world countries - refer the bulletin insert. During lent, this will be one of the ways of almsgiving recommended by the Church. Rice Bowl: It is also a way of almsgiving intended to feed the hungry in the world by our little sacrifices that we make during lent and send the proceeds by way of Rice Bowls to CRS to be distributed to the countries that are in greater need. Catholic Stewardship Appeal: This will be the last call by the diocese for supporting the common ministries of the diocese. Our given goal was $ and as of today, we have turned in only $ 11, by 84 donors. We are still behind the set goal.. Now, it is the time to check on those who have not done any contributions to the appeal of the diocese. It is a good time to turn in on line to the diocesan website Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City, click on Giving and then click on line giving CSA By our collective effort, I look forward to have our goal completed shortly so that we will be in good standing with the diocesan program. Confession for PSR kids: (smaller group) It will be done on two Sundays during the class hour. That will be on March 31st and April 7th. As before, the teachers will prepare them in their respective classes and guide them to receive the sacrament. I will hear the confession on March 31 st after 8 am Mass and Fr. Roberto Ike will do it on April 7 th. The kids prepared for first reconciliation may do it on March 31st if they are ready. If not, they can do it on April 7th. For the teens, (bigger group including confirmation) it will be done on two Wednesdays, April 3rd and April 10th. The parents and teachers concerned will kindly ensure that their kids receive the sacrament of reconciliation on the set time. It is a collective responsibility that has been placed on us to bring up our kids in the sacramental life of the church. Listening sessions by Bishop McKnight: Two listening sessions with Bishop Shawn McKnight will be held in our Diocese, to assist the bishop in preparing for a special report to the Holy See on the state of the diocese. Please consider attending one of these sessions to provide Bishop McKnight with your reflections in a facilitated conversation around a series of questions. You can find more information in the Catholic Missourian and on the diocesan website at diojeffcity.org. The sessions are March 28, 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2215 W. Main St., Jefferson City, and March 29, 6:30 p.m.: Immaculate Conception Church, 402 N. Rollins, Macon. These questions will be used to frame the listening sessions. Please consider referring to them when you present your reflection. What Church do you want your children and grandchildren to inherit? What are your dreams for their Church? What does it mean to you for your parish to be a Center of Mercy and Charity? How is your parish seen in the broader community? What is your responsibility as a baptized Catholic to the parish? What is your responsibility as a baptized Catholic too the broader community? How could your parish or church help you be a better disciple of Christ? How do the clergy and the laity share the responsibility for the life and mission of your parish? How does your parish effectively engage people in the life of your parish community? How can it do more? A practical lesson by Pope Francis: Soon it will be lent. It would be so beautiful if each of us, during this lent reflect on this: How do I behave with people? How is my heart in front of people? I m a hypocrite? Do I smile and then criticize and destroy them with my tongue? And if we, at the end of Lent have corrected this a little and are not always criticizing others from behind, I assure you that the Resurrection of Jesus will be seen more beautiful and greater among us. Eh, Father, it is very difficult, because I always criticize others. Some of us say that, because it is a habit that the devil puts in us. It s true, it s not easy. But there are two medicines that help a lot. First of all, Prayer. If you criticize another, pray for him, pray for her and ask the Lord to solve that problem, and to close your mouth. First Remedy: prayer. Without prayer we cannot do anything. And secondly, there is another medicine, which is also practical like prayer. When you feel the desire to talk about someone, you bite your tongue. Strong! Because this will swell your tongue and you will not be able to speak. It s a practical medicine, it s very practical.
