To observe our meeting requirement, we will combine our meeting with the Chapter open meeting on December 19. We will hold our officers meeting on December 17. Our recruiting is right on our goal.

2 Grand Knight s Report Dear Brother Knights and Families Brother Knights So that everyone can attend our Parish Advent Mission Week at Good Shepherd, December, we will not be holding our regular business meeting for December. The meeting will be postponed until January. I didn t think finding a free date in everyone s busy December would work. To observe our meeting requirement, we will combine our meeting with the Chapter open meeting on December 19. We will hold our officers meeting on December 17. Our recruiting is right on our goal. Great job to everyone. Keep spreading the word about our council and what we do for fellow knights and our community. A shout-out to Hall Managers, Bar Teams and WEDOs. We could not do what we do without these Knights that put in the extra work so we can have this fantastic building to operate from. We set a new record for first Friday fish sales and gave fifteen families Thanksgiving baskets. Thanks to all who helped. Our ministries for Knights Sunday had a great meeting with Father O. We got some refresher training to help the service run more smoothly. If you missed the meeting don t worry about it the folks who were there will help make sure we are all up to speed on the new things Father has for us. No giant changes just little adjustments. December we will be having our Council Christmas Party on the 9th. Details are later in this newsletter. And we will be hosting the Chapter meeting and Christmas party on the 19th. This is an open meeting. All members are welcome to attend and bring you spouses. 4 Divine Mercy Moment Our Lord Jesus of Divine Mercy places a huge responsibility on St. Faustina, Apostle of My mercy proclaim to the whole world My unfathomable mercy. Do not be discouraged by the difficulties you encounter in proclaiming My mercy. These difficulties that affect you so painfully are needed for your sanctification and as evidence that this work is Mine. My daughter, be diligent in writing down every sentence I tell you concerning My mercy, because this is meant for a great number of souls who will profit from it. (St. Faustina s Diary 1142) Lecturer s Corner Christmas reflections By Dr. Chris Anthony Butterworth, Malaysia Jesus is born but have we found Him yet? Once again, we are in the season of Advent indicating that Christmas is just around the corner. Many of us may remember the once popular hymn during this season, "Oh Come Divine Messiah" whose lyrics go like this: Oh come divine Messiah The world in silence waits the day When hope shall sing of triumph And sadness flees away Yes, those days life was very simple as we waited in silence with full of hope that soon good will soon triumph over evil thereby ridding our lives of sadness. Those words were so meaningful and bring back pleasant memories of Christmas of the yesteryears. Christmas is a commemoration of God's coming into the world. He came for all of us - believers and nonbelievers alike. His birth should bring us hope and triumph which will dispel the sadness from our lives. But after years of celebrating Christmas after Christmas many of us are yet to see that triumph in our lives and our hopes may be giving way to despair. Has the Messiah really come? If He has where is He? Why doesn't He bring the triumph that dispels the sadness of man? The real problem today is that we are waiting for God to literally come to us. We celebrate His birth just like that of any one of us - offering prayers, eating, drinking and making merry. We celebrate his coming into the world but we do not welcome Him into our hearts and lives. Yes, He has come into the world and is very much in our midst but unfortunately, we refuse to recognize Him therefore fail to welcome Him. By being born to poor parents, in an environment of extreme poverty, Jesus is telling us where He dwells - not in places of majesty and glamor but among the poor and the down-trodden, the sick and dying, the hungry, the oppressed and in those we love and even in those we hate. In short, He is among the masses. Amidst our celebrations this Christmas, let us pause a while to look around us to recognize that Jesus who was born into the world two thousand years ago. He is among us in every person and in every trial and tribulation we encounter in our lives. Let us take a moment to look around to recognize Him in those who do not have joy and peace in their lives. Let us do the little within our means to alleviate the pain and misery in their lives. Let us do whatever we can to give them the hope that triumph will one day wipe out the sadness in the hearts. We too, like Jesus, must have the humility to come down from our positions of comfort and power to meet Him in the people around us. If we isolate ourselves from the masses by building a fortress around us with all our wealth and power together with greed, selfishness and pride, then we can keep waiting for Jesus all our lives but it will only be in vain. To us then His birth into this world, that is Christmas, will be just another day to celebrate, eat, drink and make merry. It will never become the day when hope shall sing of triumph and sadness flees away.

5 Faith Director Knights Choir The Knights Choir will sing on Sunday, December at Good Shepherd Church at the 8:00 AM Mass. Rehearsal is at 7:15 AM. We are looking forward for more Knights to join us. We need to plan and implement A NOVENA for our parish. Fr. O has ok'd the 8 days leading up to the 22 JAN Coincidently that is the anniversary of ROE v WADE. I will need a KNIGHT for each of the NINE DAYS to help Jim Lovering make this project another peg in BUILDING THE DOMESTIC CHURCH. Pray and discern your commitment to the CULTURE OF LIFE in the coming weeks and be prepared to step forth as we strengthen the parochial family. We Walk by Faith and not by Sight. Knights Sunday, supported by our Council, is scheduled for Immaculate Conception Church on November after the 9:45AM Mass. Please support this event to recruit new members. Good Shepherd Columbus Club Good Shepherd Columbus Club: The next Directors meeting will be Wednesday December 5 at 7:00 PM. All members of Council 6358 are welcome. In an effort to reduce printing and postage costs, we want to distribute the newsletter and any other Knights of Columbus communications via . Please send us your address so that we may update our records; include your full name in the body of the . Council Christmas Party The holiday season will be here soon and time once again it s time for our annual Christmas party. This year's event will be on 9 December at the hall starting at 5:30 p.m. All members and guests are invited. If you have a guest in mind it can be great for recruitment. Most importantly, he party is FREE. Once again, the party is REE. An adult gift exchange will also be on the agenda. This is a fun activity that all will enjoy. The participants are to bring a co-ed gift valued at least 10 dollars. Of course, the gift should be wrapped. Brace yourselves for the fun to begin. Santa will make an appearance to deliver gifts to the children. So, make an attempt to bring your children to see and receive a gift from him. The Council requests that the parents bring a wrapped gift posted with the child s name. All the presents will be in Santa s bag for distribution. Come and see the smiles that will accompany this special activity. The Council plans on serving the following: ham, green beans, potatoes, tamales, beans, rice and all the trimmings. Unfortunately, with this or any other event, help is always required. Team 4 is on schedule for the event but any help is welcome This Month's Challenge Jesus said to his disciples, In those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Gospel for Nov. 18, Mk. 13:24, 32) There s an old country Gospel song with a catchy refrain that asks this question: What would you do if Jesus came to spend the day with you? As Advent quickly approaches, the Church invites us to ponder this question and prepare our hearts and souls accordingly. We frantically prepare for Christmas, buying gifts and decorating our homes. But will we prepare our soul with the same sense of urgency, purpose, and care? Advent is a sobering time of reflection on the second coming of Jesus. What would you do if Jesus came to spend the day with you? Soon he will. May we meet him with open arms and pure hearts. Challenge by Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William E. Lori This month, recalling that we do not know the day or the hour, I challenge you to go confession, and make a commitment to go monthly thereafter as a means of maintaining vigilant care over your soul.
