3 HEAR THE WORD OF GOD CLEARLY Our Parish sound system offers the opportunity for individuals who have difficulty hearing the mass, to use a Personal Hand Held Amplification Device (PHHAD) The PHHAD taps directly into the sound system allowing an individual to clearly hear the Mass in its entirety. If you feel a PHHAD will increase your ability to enjoy and participate in the Mass please fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket. A training secession will be scheduled and posted in a future bulletin. Any question: call Colleen Corsi at or leave a message for a return call. This program is supported by the Parish and the Holy Family Rosarians. Name Phone # I usually attend Mass at 4:00pm or 10:30am SHERMAN STREET CEMETERY PROJECT Rebuilding of Cemetery Crosses Nathaniel Battisti, a young man in our parish, is volunteering his time as part of his involvement with the Boy Scouts to replace and repair the Crosses in the Sherman Street Cemetery. He writes: My name is Nathaniel Battisti. As my Eagle Service Project, I would like to replace the deteriorating crosses in the Sherman Street Cemetery. I am asking for donations from you, our church community, to help fund this project. If you would like to help me help our church, please make a donation to this project by sending it directly to Holy Family Parish for the Eagle Scout Project. You can either mail your donation to the parish office or place it in the regular, weekly collection in an envelope specifying it is to be used for the cemetery crosses. Thank you for any donations you feel you will be able to make. Nathaniel has spent the past several months investigating what needs to be done and hopes to start it as soon as he raises the necessary funds. THANK YOU PARISH PICNIC We would like to thank Father Tom and everyone else who helped in making our annual parish picnic such a huge success. This year s picnic was the best ever. To all the many volunteers we thank you for all that you did! We had many new faces and many old faithful that are always willing to give of their time and talents. Also, thanks to all the people who attended the picnic. Hopefully all had a great time and are planning on returning next year!! INFORMATION FOR BOTH PARISHES FLOOD ASSISTANCE Forms State of New York Mohawk Valley and 2013 Upstate Flood Recovery Program Disaster Assistance Applications are available at the Parish Office. MASS BOOK 2014 The Mass Intention Book is open for scheduling.. Mass intentions will be taken over the phone for anyone who is unable to come into the offices. SECOND COLLECTION FOR ST. FRANCIS de SALES SCHOOL As many of you may know, or even read about in The Evangelist, St. Francis de Sales School suffered significant damage during the recent flood. Hit hardest was their gym and library. To show our support for our Regional Catholic School, we are having a second collection this weekend. Please consider giving to this special collection, if you are able. Checks may be made payable to Sts. Anthony & Joseph or Holy Family Parish CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL STRENGTHENING THE CHURCH AUGUST 24/45 There are over 80 home mission dioceses in the United States. These dioceses struggle to fund basic and essential pastoral works such as religious education, seminarian and lay ministry formation, and evangelization, and are unable to attend to the needs that are unique to the communities they serve. With your support, the Catholic Home Missions Appeal helps ease the struggle and form vibrant faith communities. Women at the Well - 6:30 8PM on the last Tuesday of each month at The Good News Center All Christian women of any age are invited to come to Women at the Well to enrich their awareness of God in their life and become more attentive to the ways He nourishes them each day. Facilitated by Sister Mary Ellen Schopfer, CSJ, Spiritual Director, this evening becomes a time for receiving insights, as well as gaining support. For details and registration: call Tanya at The Good News Center at (315) or visit TheGoodNewsCenter.org Events Calendar.

4 PROBLEMS WATCHING TELEVISED MASS? Some residents of the Albany Diocese who watch the Diocese's "Table of the Lord" televised Mass each week need to make a change in order to continue accessing it. In late July, Time Warner Cable, which airs "Table of the Lord," began broadcasting public access television channels in digital format only. This is a more efficient way to deliver the video signals but some customers have since been unable to receive the channels on which they watch "Table of the Lord." Time Warner cable customers who have cable boxes will continue to see the channels that air "Table of the Lord." Those who own newer, digital televisions will only need to reprogram their TVs (scanning for additional channels) in order to make sure that the public access channels which carry "Table of the Lord" appear. Customers who own older, analog TVs and do not have cable boxes must acquire digital adapters in order to watch the channels on which "Table of the Lord" is aired. For now, the adapters are available free of charge, but they must be ordered by Sept. 23 in order to avoid an immediate monthly service charge of 99 cents. Regardless of when the adapter is ordered, the fee will go into effect for everyone after Jan. 1, If you know someone who is having trouble watching "Table of the Lord," please call Time Warner Cable at about receiving a digital adapter, or go to The adapters do come with instructions, but anyone needing assistance can call Time Warner at the same number. STS. ANTHONY & JOSEPH Please say a Prayer for: Bob Giammaria We will pray for those who are ill, hospitalized or recuperating. If you know someone who could use prayers, please call the parish office and leave their name for inclusion in the bulletin. Please make sure you have their permission to do so. BIBLE STUDY Continues on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. in August. Study will be held at Sts. Anthony s Church Hall. Topic will be 1 Peter. Study is for beginners as well as Readers. Facilitators are Mary Jane and John Scialdone. MONEY COUNTERS Monday, August 19 Frank Evangelista, Rose Marie Lamanna FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION Registration forms have been mailed. If you need a registration form please call the office or pick one up in the vestibule of Church. YARN MINISTRY Thank you to all those who have dropped off prayer shawls and lap robes. Having an inventory means that we will never have to refuse someone that needs remembrance or some comfort. Our supply of lap robes and prayer shawls is getting better, but we could still use a few more. Could you help by making and donating one or more? Are you getting bored making the same thing over and over? We will be needing hats, scarves and mittens for the Christmas season, we could also use adult sized slippers. Yarn and patterns are available at the parish office LET S HELP KEEP THE BABIES WARM Catholic Charities Community Maternity Services welcomes donation of hats, sweaters, booties and blankets. If you are interested in making any of the Items listed, we will accept them gladly. Yarn is available at the Parish Office. We also will accept clean, used or new baby or children s clothing. Please contact Rosemarie Peruzzi at PERHAPS YOU COULD HELP? To date donations of $ have been made to the fund by parishioners and Christian Service Committee to help those families that may fall short of receiving help for their children through the free breakfast or the reduced lunch program, offered by the school. We can t begin to express how grateful we are for your continued generosity to this program. Statistics show that one in every five children live in poverty in this area. Providing them with a meal is one way we could help. The project is overseen by the school, with reports made to the Christian Service Committee. If you would like to help, checks can be made directly to the Herkimer Elementary School, with a note in the check memo Lunch Project, and mailed to 255 Gros Blvd., Herkimer, NY or you could put the check in a plain white envelope marked Lunch Project and put it into the collection basket. If you prefer to give cash, please put it into a plain envelope marked Lunch Project and put it into the collection basket. We d like to continue the donations throughout the summer so that we have a balance available when school starts in the Fall. Your help has always made the projects we undertake successful. Any donation you wish to make will be greatly appreciated. Christian Service Committee Of Sts. Anthony & Joseph
