3 SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Congratulations is extended to Michael LaValla & Katie Read who received the Sacrament of Marriage last weekend. HEAR THE WORD OF GOD CLEARLY Our Parish sound system offers the opportunity for individuals who have difficulty hearing the mass, to use a Personal Hand Held Amplification Device (PHHAD) The PHHAD taps directly into the sound system allowing an individual to clearly hear the Mass in its entirety. If you feel a PHHAD will increase your ability to enjoy and participate in the Mass please fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket. A training secession will be scheduled and posted in a future bulletin. Any question: call Colleen Corsi at or leave a message for a return call. This program is supported by the Parish and the Holy Family Rosarians. Name Phone # I usually attend Mass at 4:00pm or 10:30am SHERMAN STREET CEMETERY PROJECT Rebuilding of Cemetery Crosses We are still accepting donations to assist Nathaniel Battisti, a young man in our parish, who is volunteering his time as part of his involvement with the Boy Scouts to replace and repair the Crosses in the Sherman Street Cemetery. Nathaniel has spent the past several months investigating what needs to be done and hopes to start it as soon as he raises the necessary funds. INFORMATION FOR BOTH PARISHES FLOOD ASSISTANCE Forms State of New York Mohawk Valley and 2013 Upstate Flood Recovery Program Disaster Assistance Applications are available at the Parish Office. The Parish Offices are open from 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. 12 noon on Friday until September for anyone who would like to schedule Masses. Mass intentions will be taken over the phone for anyone who is unable to come into the offices. ALL PARISH ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMITTEES September will be here quickly and that heralds the return of meetings and activities. Please contact the parish offices with your dates so that you can be on the calendar and included in the weekly bulletin. 50 th Anniversary of Priesthood will be celebrated for the Most Reverend Howard J. Hubbard, Bishop of Albany on October 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Albany, NY. It is requested that each parish submit four names of persons who wish to attend. We are asking you to please call the parish office if you are interested in attending this celebration. If there are more than four persons signing up, we will in turn have a drawing. Women at the Well - 6:30 8PM on the last Tuesday of each month at The Good News Center All Christian women of any age are invited to come to Women at the Well to enrich their awareness of God in their life and become more attentive to the ways He nourishes them each day. Facilitated by Sister Mary Ellen Schopfer, CSJ, Spiritual Director. This evening becomes a time for receiving insights, as well as gaining support. For details and registration: call Tanya at The Good News Center at (315) or visit TheGoodNewsCenter.org Events Calendar. PROBLEMS WATCHING TELEVISED MASS? Some residents of the Albany Diocese who watch the Diocese's "Table of the Lord" televised Mass each week need to make a change in order to continue accessing it. In late July, Time Warner Cable, which airs "Table of the Lord," began broadcasting public access television channels in digital format only. This is a more efficient way to deliver the video signals but some customers have since been unable to receive the channels on which they watch "Table of the Lord." Time Warner cable customers who have cable boxes will continue to see the channels that air "Table of the Lord." Those who own newer, digital televisions will only need to reprogram their TVs (scanning for additional channels) in order to make sure that the public access channels which carry "Table of the Lord" appear. Customers who own older, analog TVs and do not have cable boxes must acquire digital adapters in order to watch the channels on which "Table of the Lord" is aired. For now, the adapters are available free of charge, but they must be ordered by Sept. 23 in order to avoid an immediate monthly service charge of 99 cents. Regardless of when the adapter is ordered, the fee will go into effect for everyone after Jan. 1, If you know someone who is having trouble watching "Table of the Lord," please call Time Warner Cable at about receiving a digital adapter, or go to The adapters do come with instructions, but anyone needing assistance can call Time Warner at the same number.
4 CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS Many dioceses right here in the United States do not have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve their parishes. These dioceses are known as home missions. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be generous in this Appeal and help strengthen the Church at home. REST IN PEACE: May the souls of Gregory Fusco, Harry L. Gibson, Jr. and Frances Mlekoday be granted eternal peace with the Lord. Sanctuary Lamp is Lit in Loving Memory of: Dolores Gardner Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Mula Salvatore Cifonelli Irene Polczynski MONEY COUNTERS Monday, August 26 Florence Caliguire, Laura Caliguire SAY A PRAYER We will pray for those who are ill, hospitalized or recuperating. If you know someone who could use prayers, please call the parish office and leave their name for inclusion in the bulletin. Please make sure you have their permission to do so. CHRISTIAN SERVICE Thank you The Christian Service Committee is most grateful. For your generous support for our Back to School Project. With your help we were abler to give 35 children a new outfit and school supplies to start the new year. We truly appreciate your generous help. May God Bless you and yours. Remember, a full year of instruction must occur before the Sacramental year If you are a new family to the program and would like to register your child/children in the program, or have someone who will be new to the program, please call the parish office and we will make sure you receive the materials you need for registration. Forms are also available in the Chapel Area of Church. CRAFTY LADIES There will be a very important meeting on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Please make every effort to attend. PERHAPS YOU COULD HELP? To date donations of $ have been made to the fund by parishioners and Christian Service Committee to help those families that may fall short of receiving help for their children through the free breakfast or the reduced lunch program, offered by the school. We can t begin to express how grateful we are for your continued generosity to this program. This project is overseen by the school, with reports made to the Christian Service Committee. If you would like to help, checks can be made directly to the Herkimer Elementary School, with a note in the check memo Lunch Project, and mailed to 255 Gros Blvd., Herkimer, NY or you could put the check in a plain white envelope marked Lunch Project and put it into the collection basket.
