4 Contending for the Inerrant Word FEATURE T hroughout history God has used anchors to hold His people steadfastly to the authority of His Word. These individuals held Scripture in high regard because they held the Author of the Scripture in high regard. In the fifth century BC, God used Ezra the scribe to ground His people steadfastly to the authority of the Law. When he opened the book and began to read, all the people answered, Amen, Amen! while lifting up their hands; then they bowed low and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground (Nehemiah 8:6). During the era of sacramentalism, the Roman Church became a surrogate Christ and an enemy of grace and faith. Yet men arose who were committed to the recovery of expository preaching. It was these men who sparked the Protestant

5 Reformation; men who understood the inspiration, inerrancy, and importance of God s Word. The eighteenth century is often referred to as the Age of Reason, an epoch that left the western world rejecting the Bible and lifting the human mind to the position of god. Yet again, men stood for the infallibility of the Word men like B.B. Warfield, John Gresham Machen, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and the group that gathered in Chicago in 1978 to pen 29 articles that would become the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. God has always used anchors like these men to hold His people steadfastly to the authority of His Word. He has always established workmen who rightly handled His Word of Truth. This week The Master s Seminary, Grace Community Church, and our invited keynote speakers affirmed and proclaimed the perfection of God s Word. Our desire was to inform, edify, and challenge our attendees; to call these faithful men to take a stand on the issue of biblical inerrancy, to eagerly contend for the faith, and to rightly esteem the Word of God. May the Lord use the Inerrancy Summit to firmly establish this next generation to rightly handle His Word and glorify His name. May those who attended be committed to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3). May they strive to entrust to others that which was given to them (2 Timothy 2:2). Please pray with us that the effects of this last week would continue to be felt, not only by the church here in America, but around the world, for years to come. FEATURE

6 HIGHLIGHT Evangelism Ministries The Bible describes Christians as ambassadors for Christ those who were saved to proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). One of the most joyful duties we have is to proclaim this great gospel to others. To this end, Grace Church members hold evangelistic Bible studies in jails, rehab centers, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and on Skid Row. Groups also go door-to-door right here in our own neighborhood. The Grace Church Accounting Department has a full-time opening for an accounting manager. Candidates will manage dayto-day operations of a fast-paced team environment and oversee and review processes related to month-end close, audit, and year-end tax reporting. Position requires ability to research and document tax and accounting issues; excellent organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking skills; and experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
